What does everyone think about this group of online "hackers" known simply as Anonymous? It has been said that they hack MySpace pages, there was apparently a random "victim" that they hacked and post nude gay sex scenes which made his gf leave him because she thought he was cheating on her with guys. Over time, the organization started to have a problem with Scientology. Ever since a Tom Cruise video got out on Youtube and Anonymous made a response telling them they will fight and destroy them. There has been someone by the name of Paul Fetch who nobody listens too that tries to fight Anonymous. He says that Anonymous moves closer to Scientologist's house so it is easier to kill them. Below is the link to their message to Scientology. www.youtube.com/watch?v=JCbKv9yiLiQp.s. They also invaded Habbo Hotal.

(Interesting...I just realized that was already a thread on Anonymous here on the Critical Thinking Board but it's mysterously on the list. Anyone here delete the thread for any particular reason >_> )
Well I say what I said in that thread before.
Based on the news and wiki-research I've done, I'm left to say that this group are just a sort of cyber-gang with nothing better else. I don't think much for groups that exist solely to antagonize another (in this case antagonizing Scientology).
Sure the "scientologists" committed several illegal "stupid name" operations. But jeez, why can't the offical authorities deal with it?
Not to mention I never even heard of Scientology until I read some random news that the group Anonymous were harassed a man who they mistakened to be a scientologist.
So Anonymous is out to stop Scientology for crimes they commited....and they want to do that by commiting "crimes" of their own???
Right...

support the /b/rethen!
Honestly I have nothing against them. As long as I don't make myself a target, they won't care

I agree with the majority of what anonymous is doing I love when I type in cult on Google now but not all of it is good. The peaceful protesters that registered to have their protests back in February are being blamed by Scientologists for recent bomb/death threats being made by the radicals. I know one of them personally and its being taken too far.
I'm going to the protest in Atlanta this weekend. I believe in getting rid of Scientology's "tax-exempt" status because of it being a so-called religion and yes I'm wearing a surgical mask because Ga law states that we can't wear full masks in public.

^ Why can't you wear a mask? For safety reasons? How are you supposed to cosplay as the Blue Spirit? And wouldn't the KKK freak out over a law like that? [/offtopic] Personally, I think it's a little lame that they call themselves "Anonymous" and that the best they can do is make stupid comments on Tom Cruise YouTube videos. Geez, I'm scared.

I am seriously beginning to believe Anonymous is everywhere. I cannot go on the internet without seeing someone a part of Anon. Has anyone ever heard of one Mr. Fetch? He is fighting back against Anonymous (I think he is a Scientologist). He gets all kinds of hateful comments and messages on Youtube. I ran into someone else, who is a noob pwner by the way, and someone on Mod the Sims 2 even. Anon isn't lying when they say they are everyone. Because the internet is filled with them haters. They even saw that the news has almost every single thing wrong with the organization. Also I never heard of a law like that and people wear full mask all of the time. So cosplaying as the Blue Spirit is alright with a group of close friends somewhere in your home I imagine. Now in a shopping mall is isn't allowed, but it's a stupid law anyways. In the words of one Dr. Gregory House a.k.a The Big Cheese from Life is Pointless.

The KKK did freak out over that law....thats what it was made for back in 1952. Unfortunately it still exists today, just like chicken can't cross the road and certain sexual acts are also still illegal in Ga as well. <----True. As far as cosplaying goes, masks are legal as long as they are worn in the convention center (depending on the convention you go to in Atlanta...). Public protests, however, are a different story. They can't be worn for "safety reasons". Surgical masks for some reason don't fall in that category. As far as saying its lame, thats a little critical. Go to xenu.com and read some of the testimonials from previous Scientologists.

All i know is they better watch themselves else I wouldn't be surprised if they ended up on the homeland security "terrorist" list
I don't remember where i heard it but the quote, "one man's freedom fighter is another man's terrorist" seems appropriate here.

I have yet to see an Anonymous act do physical harm to body and property, let alone to a government official, so I think that being put on a Terrorist watch list is highly unlikely. In the past, their attacks have been limited to hacking websites, posting personal information, and Dedicated Denial of Service campaigns. Before the whole Scientology campaign, or "Operation Chanology" as it is being known as, they were generally known as being an intimidation group, usually picking on some unfortunate /b/tard who happened to annoy them incessantly. Alas, such is the harsh mistress that is the Interwebs. It's just good to see them having bigger fish to fry.

Of course, there begins the problem of policing the Internets. A DDoS attack, for example, is similar to a large group of people boarding a bus and not paying the fare. The only solution is that bus doesn't leave the stop and everyone is ejected from the bus, even if they already paid. The only real repercussion is that everyone is denied a bus ride and the schedule would be thrown off. Few arrests, if any. Even then, they'd probably be for other charges than "stopping a bus."
In any case, Anonymous never really had a real objective or agenda to push until Operation Chanology came around. One could say that they were a faceless army for completely democratized information, but all I've seen prior to OC were vendettas against aforementioned annoying /b/tards.
In any case, I think they're doing a great service by protesting the Church of Scientology. IMO, they've done in 50 years what the Catholic Church took 1,500 to do.

Alright, where was Anonymous before the Scientology Tom Cruise video came on Youtube? Because every single time I log onto Youtube and search for crappy videos I always see something from the popular website 4chan which is home to Anonymous. I Pedobear. >_< Although they did bring back Lazytown to the public and the songs are catchy as hell. XDD
