I can imagine it all now, but I could be wrong. Azula: Hey guys remember my brother? Zuko: Hi. Ty Lee: What in the Hell happened to your face?! (At first scared, but then starts laughing) Did you get burned by a firecracker or something?! Mai: "Screams and runs out of the room". And poor Zuko is sad. quote] I think that Ty-Lee would be more: Hey, Zuko..Does this ugly scar hurts? (in her inocent tone) And Mai: ..........o_-...........-_-..........I have to go........[/

Because she's superficial.
Ew, shut me up, I'm character-bashing. But it's true, I want to learn more about Mai before I judge Maiko. Right now all I'm getting from her is a strong apathetic vibe.

I wouldn't be opposed to Maiko if she didn't seem like a two demensional character right now. We've only seen one side to her, so it's hard to ship her. Because otherwise I might actually be open to Maiko.

yeah if mai got more development then i might see it. it would just seem unfair to me for mai if she ended up with a character that has had tons more development than her. it would seem too much like she's just there to end up with that person. i would like to see mai become more than a one-sided character. like luna i might be ok with teen maiko if mai is developed in a way that i think would fit with zuko's character well. hopefully i made a bit of sense . luna...it's two-dimensional^_^;;; ahhh where did that karma come from? who do i give some to in return^_^;;;?

no problem^_^.
i would like to see mai have more than one side to her though. sometimes she seems like she might be an interesting character...of course sometimes her apathetic attitude gets me a little bored^_^;;;. i love her fighting style though.

I try to maintain an open outlook on other ships, but the reason why I don't support Maiko is based on my comparisons to Fruits Basket, which I must've stated multiple times by now. Basically Mai is from the fire nation, so if she gets Zuko, how will he learn about the outside? I mean he's been exiled for a while, so he's had a chance to experience other cultures, but he lacks a loving relationship with people from other nations. Which leads to Soko, Zujin, Zutara... And I prefer Zutara. Wait, didn't Mai see Zuko with his scar already? The Agni Kai one, right? Or it's at least that they may have briefly encountered each other, not enough for her to react or whatever. I don't recall much.

hmm you have a point about the fruits basket comparison.
i don't think it's been said whether or not mai has seen his scar. she wasn't at the agni kai...or they didn't show her at least. i guess the only way to know is to wait for a scene between the two.

I'm interested to see them in a scene together after all the stuff has gone on. What will Mai think of him, and what will he think of her? This might open up the other side to her we've been waiting for.
That's an interesting theory. Zuko's role in the show and his development has seemed to be following a trail of breadcrumbs. He meets many different people on the outside world that bring about a subtle change within him, some more important than the others, and if he were to stay close to the nest and choose Mai over Katara, he could be missing out on the cultural aspect of a different nation pairing.

yeah i'm actually looking forward to some mai/zuko interaction. that's alot coming from me considering what i first thought of mai. i'm really curious now.
yeah you have a point luna. he may miss out on something. although he might find something great too. it all depends on how mai and zuko react to each other next season.

In a relationship, the two people ought to bring out the best in each other. Zuko has many good qualities that have been suppressed due to circumstances and upbringing. He could be a good guy if certain needs are met. Mei being from the Fire Nation shares the same sort of environment and outlook that Zuko has been bred to have: Fire is superior to all other elements etc. How will someone like that encourage Zuko to expand upon the lessons he has learned from his interactions with the common people and those who are supposed to be his enemies. The answer is that she won't. She has shown no compassion for anyone and thus far has only shown an interest in Zuko because of her crush. Zuko would benefit more being with someone from outside that environment who can show him that thinking is wrong. Really I think Zuko's regression will help him to see that he can't act in the same conqueror mode that he did in Season one cause he no longer truly thinks of the other nations as beneath him.

hmm you might have a point, youkai-slayer.
although i think love brings out the best and worst in people like i've said before. zuko and katara seem like they would do that in my opinion. if you only bring out the best then you only see one side of someone. if you bring out both, then you understand the person more in my opinion.

In fact Zuko is a mama's boy.(I keep saying that).Oh well mothers are alot in common and Katara has her relationship with hers.Who knew mothers could bring relationships.

I would be interested in seeing Mai and Zuko interact. We see her react to him a lot, but other than the blush in Zuko Alone, not much else has happened.
