My question to us Kataangs is, is clearing of the Chakras a one time deal? Because to me it doesnt seem like that. They are bound to get clogged up again, because Aang is human and he is prone to mistakes, like any other person. Although the Avatar making a mistake is a big issue to some.

I personally think the clearing of the Chakras is a one time deal. I doubt it's going to be as easy as "Okay, you can only let go of your attachment to Katara whenever you want to enter the AS". I don't know, but I just get that feeling in my gut. They wouldn't introduce it and have Guru Pathik say "You must learn to let go" so that his attachment to her could just as easily be put aside whenever he has to enter the Avatar State.
The Avatar State, the chakras, and letting go of Katara all seem to fall into a "one time deal" thing. Either Aang "lets go" of Katara and he's able to control it, or he doesn't let go and risks the lives of not only himself, but the people around him. It's a classic choice between duty and love, divinity and humanity.

Now what gets me is that once he clears all the Chakra's, enters controlled AS, does his duty, ceases from the state, will his Chakra's hold that same clear flow?

I'm guessing it would, because the reason people unblock their chakras is so that they can reach a height of enlightenment. So that they could feel balanced within themselves. If Aang goes right back to his attachments, his fears, etcera then it means that he didn't unblock them at all.

Good enough.
Iroh's and the Guru's words may do some serious head clashing this coming season.

Good enough. Iroh's and the Guru's words may do some serious head clashing this coming season. I agree. Aang had that conversation with Iroh for a reason. I think it's blatantly foreshadowing that he doesn't need the Avatar State the way he thinks he does. If "Power and perfection" are overrated, then "happiness and love" is the key. I dunno, or it could be foreshadowing the struggle Aang will face in season 3. Does he respond to duty? or to love?

I think the creators purposely nixed Aang's trump card for a good purpose. If he could have defeated Azula and Zuko with one flick of the wrist, then we could forget the invasion, and the eclipse, just quick roll on the Fire Nation and take out the opposition. Seriously if that was the case, the creators woud not have much plot conflicts to go on this season. One thing we know the Fire Nation has become more and more advanced the last one hundred years. It contains very powerful benders that now pose a problem to the Avatar (I.E. Azula)
I just still hold to my belief that its going to take more than raw power to win this war, not with the Fire Nation so technically advanced.

I think the message the creators are trying to place across is that you don't need to be powerful to actually be strong and defeat your enemies. It could help you, but great power can easily be manipulated and turned against you. (Case in point: Azula zapping Aang with lightning) Plus, where's the conflict if there's no consequence to gaining such an awesome force at your hands? It is true that Aang needs to master the Avatar State so he doesn't need to be controlled by his emotions, but I don't think he needs it to win the war. A lot of people are calling Aang's decision to not give up on Katara (at first) selfish because he's only thinking of her. But it has to be there because it's part of the plot. The romance isn't that big but it's still essential to it, especially in Aang's case. But what will his romance with Katara be used for? For Aang to realize that although he loves her, he has to think independantly and grow on his own? Or for the world to see that love can overcome any obstacle it faces?

It does seem like that, but the guru also said "let go of fear, grief etc.." How is it really possible for him to not feel anymore sorrow for the air nomads? And I'm sure he's still going to be afraid sometimes, I mean, Look at this pic: His face has scared written all over it. So if it's possible for him to greive and fear, doesn't that mean he can still love too?

Yeah, I just hope he'll never have to make that choice.

"If wishes were wings, sheep would fly." ~Lini
In my eyes, he will indeed have to make that choice. We might not want ti to happen, we might wish the whole chakra business had never occured, but it did. So why did it? Drama for drama's sake? I don't really think so. The concept isn't finished yet, and he will have to chose.

True, he will have to make a choice like that, it's part of the conflict. I just hope Katara won't have to die because of it.

Yeah.....I don't think that Aang could handle Katara dying...especially if it was because he chose the world over her....

If he has to choose again, lets hope the creators dont use the same conflict matter that they used this season finale.
