To slightly go off topic:
The whole reason why i thought of that question, I was thinking what an interesting scene it would be if it was reversed, Aang holding a lifeless Katara with tears flowing and his eyes glowing, but not being able to attack. Lets say the water had been used on Zuko, and there was no other way to heal her. Aang, in his frustration holds Katara closer and begins to cry. All of a sudden his arrow glows, and the light flows down to the tattoos on his hands holding Katara, her body then begins to glow and it fades after a while. She weakly groans and looks up at Aang with a small blush on her face and a smile. Aang, brightly smiling with tears in his eyes, hugs her even closer.
*sigh* Im sorry I just love happiness

Aww! You should make that into a fic Power! But yeah, I imagine it would be something similar to that, Katara can't die, it's too soon! Besides, Aang wouldn't let her, he'd sacrifice himself for her if he had to.

if the roles where reversed and katara was hit? Oh my, may Aang have mercy on there souls. Aang wouldn't know what to do he wold be a celestial ball of Angy energy. He would definitely do severe damage to his foes and would try to do anything to make sure she was okay. It would probable be even more depressing of finally if that happened and make Aang into Somdone I have no desire to meet.
Power changed his name back my joke dosen't apply anymore

Amen cuz if he went into the Avatar State over Appa, he'd master it and kick their butts if they ever hurt Katara.

He'd probably have destroyed the whole place. But then again maybe not, because that way he'd be hurting Katara as well...

Yet that seems to go against the idea of mastering the Avatar State. If Aang had mastered it, he would be able to keep full control of his actions. If he had mastered it, he would have let go of Katara, meaning he would have been very, VERY upset to be sure, but the rampaging, berserk Aang in the Avatar State would be gone. To be sure he would have beat the bajeebus out of Azula, Zuko and the Dai Li, but he wouldn't have done anything crazy, imo. I don't think he would be capable of killing them.
The idea of him using the Avatar State to revive Katara is one I like. It would reveal another side to the Avatar State. Too many people consider it an anime-esque "power up" which is a last resort weapon. I think it's a tool. You can't blame a hammer for what it does, whether it's used to build a house or hit someone. You can only hold the person who wields the tool responsible.

I think he would be able to find a way to desteoy the place without even putting a scratch on katara, he seems to be good like that ever since after the eppisode "The Deserter".

That's a good way to put it. I'm sure Aang'l know what choices to make with the AS, he won't try to kill anyone unless it's completely necessary.

I'd sap like a baby while reading it if you did. ;D Anywho, I guess it's time for a new topic. Do you guys think that Aang gave up Katara out of desperation for their safety back in Ba Sing Se? Or did he really "let her go" and completed his chakra training to fully master the Avatar State? If this has been discussed before, feel free to boil me in oil I watched Avatar Day today and make up a new one. xD

I think he only tried to let her go to save her life, which seems to contradict the original point of letting her go at all. Possibly why he didn't fully enter the Avatar State.

Yeah, that's what I think too. Perhaps by trying to enter a fully mastered Avatar State because of the attachment, it became warped somehow. I don't know, but I kind of feel like the AS was destroyed somehow. Does that mean that Aang isn't attached to his past lives anymore? Since the AS is the combination of all his past lives.

I don't want to go into a massive debate over it but I think from the look on Aang's face he knew that it was now or never. He had to let her go or they would both be killed/captured. He realized it was what was best for both of them.

He realized it was what was best for both of them. He did what he had to do, I guess. Like, "I love Katara but I know that in order to save her (and the world), I'll have to let go!". Thus, "I'm sorry, Katara". Almost like he's betraying her in some way, I dunno. That could just be my biased shipper self speaking. Aang would do anything for love~ but he won't do that. Duty vs love, such a classic.
