ya, im pretty sure that aang wont have to be pressured to repopulate the airbendeds himself.
i think that some airbenders escaped, hid their aribending ability, and forgot the art through the generations. so there are people out there that have the ability to become an air nomad, all they need is aang to show them how. you dont have do be directly decended from a bender to learn the art...
but if you did... there is alwys the idea that Ty-lee looks like aang and might be decended from an airbender... and now she has many sisters... ;D
Aang: "Katara?"
Katara: "yes Aang?"
Aang: "you know i love you, right?"
"yes. "
"you know i am completely loyal to you and our children dont you?"
"yes..."
*sigh* katara, i am sad to say...my avatar duties are not over... there is still hope for the avatar line to be guaranteed to continue, and balance to be restored to the world."
"Really?! thats great aang.... but how? all of our children end up being water-benders."
"Iroh has traced a blood line that is descended from an air nomad clan, they have lost the art of air-bending, but their blood has been kept mostly pure air nomad by the white lotus... the current family has only been able to produce daughters and their blood line has come too close to itself to continue on its own."
"Aang... where are you going with this?"
"Katara, it pains me to have to say this... *sighs* but it is my avatar duty to visit Ty-lee and her sisters every nine months for... repopulation."

actually, there is a way to allow the next Avatars to reach their full potential without having kids like rabbits. Aang can follow in the Waterbender tradition and draw out the different forms of airbending, as well as maybe a written manuscript on how to think like an airbender, like Toph explained (sort of) of how to think like an earthbender. He also just might throw in a few recipes for fruit pies and how to make a glider. Wow! I never thought of that! Good loophole. I could see that as a plot device if they do make another story arc with a different Avatar. Them having to find a way to learn Airbending without an Airbender and all. That would work for all water, fire, and earth Avatars, but when the cycle gets back to air, where will the Avatar be born? Aang's line?

Yeah, what she said! Anyway, the beauty of bending is that it isn't genetic, and it can't be diluted. You either are a bender or you're not. See, if there was only one left of a physical race, then even if they had kids which resembled them that race would eventually integrate with the other races. However, bending is more spiritual, and I'm sure bending could appear in the right person many generations after the last bender in that family. Still, rebuilding an entire race is tough stuff. I don't think the entire civilization will ever be rebuilt as it was. I think t here will be a Nation for the next Airbending Avatar to be born into though. I believe that of bending is a combination between genetic and spiritual, and even Mike Bryan responded to doubt that in the second part of the interview that was published in ASN...

Also please don't double post please use the modify button in the top right of your post. So again everyone no spoilers! Anway back to kataang. I think Aang and katara will have kids becasue they want to not because they have to.

just out of curiosity...what did Katara do with that necklace Aang made for her way way back in The Fortuneteller?
@holierthanthat: I think Katara and Aang will have a few kids, so the air nomad/airbender line still lives on. Since Avatars seem to live a very long time, I think it is safe to say that in like 300+ years there will be a few airbenders.

Not to sound mean or anything, just being realistic.... but wouldn't that little flower be withered by now, unfortunately? ;_; It would be a shame, because it was a pretty necklace. And I agree with BB. I can totally picture Aang and Katara having kids because they want to, not because they have to. I really have this vision that Aang would spoil the children too much and Katara being the more strict one. They would make a great parenting team. ^_^ You know, I started writing a Family!Kataang one-shot, but for some reason I haven't finished it. DX

I started writing a oneshot today on how I believe the first kiss will be like; I'll be sure to post it as soon as I'm done. I haven't been able to draw any decent Kataang art lately, though. I've tried three pictures; two came out horrible and one isn't looking too good. Artist's block DX I have an oekaki going at the DH oekaki, but it's way back. I plan on finishing it though. I can't wait for the puppetmaster. So far I've been able to resist spoilers on it, and I'm crossing my fingers for some Kataang

just out of curiosity...what did Katara do with that necklace Aang made for her way way back in The Fortuneteller? Like Ustu said, the flower probably withered by now. Katara still might have the fishing line part because she completely hearts Aang for safe keeping though. You know, I started writing a Family!Kataang one-shot, but for some reason I haven't finished it. DX You should! <3I agree though. Katara and Aang would be great parents (they’ve been compared to Arthur and Molly Weasley from "Harry Potter" a couple times) but I think they’d want to just be in love for a while. Aang has kept his feelings in for so long and Katara’s been in the mother role since her own mother died so she wouldn’t want to be immediately put in the same position.
