I don't want to leave Aang alone, so this couple is cool! I always thought when Toph came into the series, she would be a perfect match for Aang. As they say opposites attract Poor Toph, she's been reduced to the "pity girlfriend" for Aang. And you are right, opposites do attract. The more serious Katara is perfect for the more carefree Aang. ;D Sorry, but you sort of opened the door for that one.

Rumors spread like wildfire. Wasn't that a joke though?
Anyway, here's my opinion on Toph and Aang.
As much as many Kataangs are opposed to this shipping, I'm not really against it. If Aang decides that he likes Toph, then it's fine by me. Besides, either way, he still ends up getting a cool girl anyway. ;D
Seriously though, I don't hate this ship as many people might think I do... if they even bother to care. I actually consider this as my alternative to Katara and Aang. Despite that they have not a lot in common, I have to admit that they would make cute bickering scenes. I'm all for whatever Aang wants, and if Aang wakes up one day and decides that he likes Toph, then so be it. It won't make me twitch if he does so.

For me what turned me off on Tophaang was the fact that in an instant it became: "Yay! We now have a way to get Aang out of the way!" As if Toph could placate those who'd want to see Aang have the happy romance ending he deserves. There was almost no thought to their characters and how they behaved. There was a solution to the "Aang problem" and that was all that was seen. Suddenly Toph's rather harsh treatment of Aang was okay because he needs to be changed. He doesn't need to be changed. Part of Aang's charm is that he is sweet, friendly, and is tough and driven when he needs to be. And I'm sorry, but the boy is the Avatar. He needs to be with someone who is more mature than to call him sissy names like "Twinkle Toes." Bleh...

Ah yes, the fandom. The fandom normally turns everyone off of shipping.
I do have to agree that Toph's harsh treatment is unacceptable. Hopefully, she'll grow out of it. The girl has been caged up in her house and has not even begun to realize what reality is. This can make her close-minded and stubborn. She has only seen what's in her house and the arena, not the full extent of the war which results in her being naive and... bratty.
But, since she's now travelling with Aang, I can see her maturing when she finally recognizes reality. At least... I'm hoping. I don't want Toph to stay bratty forever.

Suddenly Toph's rather harsh treatment of Aang was okay because he needs to be changed. He doesn't need to be changed. Part of Aang's charm is that he is sweet, friendly, and is tough and driven when he needs to be. Toph's "harsh/tough treatment" of Aang was necessary in order for him to learn Earthbending. Before her lessons, he always thought like an Airbender. He always believed that he could come at threats through different angles and there's nothing wrong with thinking that way-if you're not the Avatar. I agree that his sweet and friendly nature makes Aang who he is but Toph isn't trying to change him from the inside out. She's simply providing him with the knowledge he needs in order to be an Earthbender. In order to be a master Earthbender and an accomplished Avatar he needs to be both physically and mentally unmovable when it comes to Earthbending. But to just be Aang he only needs to the caring person he already is. And I'm sorry, but the boy is the Avatar. He needs to be with someone who is more mature than to call him sissy names like "Twinkle Toes." Bleh... The fact that he is the Avatar is what's driving me away from the idea of pairing him up with anyone both in the present and in the future... *sigh*Presently speaking, what he has now is fine. He has friends who have his back and he's also starting to gain a lot of new allies due to his good deeds. However, forming a relationship would be too risky for him and his lover now matter who he decides to date. Not only that, but it's also too risky for the fate of entire world since he's been pushed to learn the elements in months due time. He now really has to focus on trying to learn as much as he can if he ever wants to see another day, regain redemption from those who lost hope in him, or succeed in his appointed task. I do have to agree that Toph's harsh treatment is unacceptable. Hopefully, she'll grow out of it. But, since she's now travelling with Aang, I can see her maturing when she finally recognizes reality. At least... I'm hoping. I don't want Toph to stay bratty forever. I'm hoping with you as well but after watching the 1:40 sec. preview of Avatar: The Fury of Aang, Toph really struggles with her Earthbending when it comes to dodging aerial attacks. Since the beginning, that's been her weakness and if it weren't for her friends guidance then she'd be a sitting duck in that field. Perhaps, while teaching Aang Earthbending, Aang would be generous enough and teach her how to dodge these aerial attacks since that's his field of expertise. Then Toph wouldn't simply be teaching Aang...she'll be learning from him as well and they'll both really be teaching each other! *how cool is that !*

There is something to be said for teaching someone to think differently. It's a whole other thing to be borderline verbally abusive and disrespectful.

Actually I always thought the other best couple (next to Zutara) is Tophaang, after all -opposites -same age -helping each other - Toph ran away to be with Aang's possee - Toph and Aang were "flirting" with each other... -Toph tells Aang her secret and her and earthbending Ok I g2g, I have to shower, get my Zuko t-shirt and then watch Fury of Aang

Actually I always thought the other best couple (next to Zutara) is Tophaang, after all -opposites -same age -helping each other - Toph ran away to be with Aang's possee - Toph and Aang were "flirting" with each other... -Toph tells Aang her secret and her and earthbending Ok I g2g, I have to shower, get my Zuko t-shirt and then watch Fury of Aang Opposites: So what you're saying is that they are perfect for each other because they are opposites? I don't follow this concept. Where, in Avatar, have they shown (with people of course), that opposites should be together? Zuko and Azula can be considered as opposites, but they hate each other. Ozai and Iroh can be considered opposites seeing as how their views are completely different, but they don't get along. Age: So what if they are the same age? Aang has shown no romantic feelings towards her ever since they met. He was just mezmerised because she was the girl he saw in the swamp. I don't understand how age can factor as a love thing. Age is a number. Numbers shouldn't matter when it comes to loving someone. Helping each other: Erm... Aang helps everyone. I don't understand how this can factor in as evidental proof that they should be together. Toph helped Aang, true, but she also had her benefits from it as well, such as revenge against the guys who tried to imprison her. Toph ran away to be with Aang's posse: Okaaay. She did run away to be with the gang. It doesn't matter whose posse it is. Heck, i can even take out the word Aang and replace it with Sokka, but it doesn't mean that Sokka and Toph should be together. Don't forget, she also ran away because she was sick of being confined and being considered as weak. Flirting: How were they flirting with each other? I must have missed the scene because I don't recall them ever flirting with each other, unless a scene got manipulated by speculation and hopeful wishing. Toph tells aang her secret: Well, this shouldn't really factor anyhow. Katara told Aang about her mother... but apparently everyone missed that. So what if she tells Aang her secret? Could it be because he was almost going tell her father about the "blind bandit"?

All this is true. I don't remember a time when Aang and Toph were flirting at all. The reasons I support this pairing is not because Zutara is my favorite pairing and Toph just takes care of the "Aang problem" but because I honestly love this ship. I actually could care less about Zutara (no offense to any Zutara fans.) One of the more basic reasons I support this ship is:
Toph seems to be the kind of person, who, in a tough situation, despite her brash and rude personality on the surface, can be very stable and dependable in a tough situation, while Aang is the more romantic kind of person who is capable of cooperating with almost anyone. Together, they would be able to support eachother and accomplish a lot.

The yin yang theory is a flaw theory that has so many holes. Anyone who gives this as a reason for love I honestly just disregard their post and move on to the next. Anyways I found this great link that me laugh about all the fantasy about love personals.yahoo.com/us/static/dating-advice_hollywood-tangomy favorite is The As Good As It Gets Trap *sorry if I sound bitter I'm just sick of that theory the balloon been deflated for a long time now and why even try to blow air into it when there are so many holes.
