Have you noticed the differences in the style of bending between Toph and Haru. Earthbending focuses on two animals, the crane and the tiger. Toph seems to take more strong stances and is more offensive, while Haru's earthbending is more graceful like a crane's. Their personalities also match the style of earthbending that they do. Haru is soft and sweet like a crane, while Toph is strong and fierce like a tiger.
Oh the spiffiness. ;D
Clearsunrise: It's not bad to state your opinion, just keep it respectful and polite. On that note, I would have to say that Haru needs more character analysis than other characters because he was only a one time character. People say he's boring and flat, but reality is that he's just shy and reserved unlike the other characters who are more "out there". Song is the same thing. Just because she doesn't like to prance around showing off her emotions doesn't mean that she's fake or flat. It is a characteristic to be shy and reserved, and Song and Haru are just that. Haru can be a symbol to represent those who have a hard time expressing their emotions which makes them come off as reserved. Song is a person who is able to control her emotions and can make herself seem more subtle. Just though I post this.

Yeah, the power of rewatching is great. I liked Haru. I liked him even the first time I watched the episode. But of course right now, he's the Anti-Toph (who I cannot stand at the moment).
I could like Karu. Kataang's my favorite, but Karu's not bad. He and Katara seemed to have good interaction. Seemed like it could be a good ship for both Katara and Haru.
And Song was sweet. I liked her. And I think she could could be good for Zuko. A much better choice. She actually cared about him. Katara would have left him to die in the snow (SoTN) if Aang hadn't spoken up.
Of course anything is better than Taang to me...bleh.

I don't hate Toph. She's pretty cool for me. I agree, though, that her teaching style is not good at all. I think she does have definite room for improvement, but I love her blunt personality. Personally, I think Zuko needs her harsh criticism more than Aang.
I like Kataang too, and I hope, that if Kataang doesn't work out, that Karu would happen.

Older Toph and Older Zuko is my favorite crack pairing. I would love to see emo Zuko get a dose of Toph's "tough love." He needs it. And both are pretty passionate...LOL. I can only imagine how those fights would end. Aang would be my first choice for Katara, but Haru would be second.

Hehe.. Toph would always win those arguments. I can see them now...
Zuko: I'm the prince of the Fire Nation damnit! Toph: I don't care if you're the prince or the shoe shiner! We're going to eat duck! Zuko: But I'm the prince and heir to the throne! Toph: -___- You just said that! Zuko: ..... But.... Toph: If you're the prince, then I'm god! Zuko: ......... Toph: That's right... I knew I would win.

I have a theory...Haru is dead. Meh, I despise him anyway. He and his father killed the poor warden.

I have a theory...Haru is dead. Meh, I despise him anyway. He and his father killed the poor warden. Not nice nor acceptable. At all. You call the warden "poor"? Really, in what ways makes him "poor"? He is incredibly cruel to the prisoners and his own soldiers, he throws spitfire everywhere and doesn't care who or what he hits, he is in charge of a prison which I deem as a concentration camp, and he had the audacity to take in and possibly people... especially the young children and elderly. What did he do to make us pity him? You despise him for the same reason that most Zutarians despise him. I know you're a kataang, but you are acting inappropriate.

clearsunrise: are you also grandfiresage? O.O Kataang's Supreme: That was kind of rude. -____- Especially in the HaruxKatara thread. Could you at least explain next time why you even dislike him? Haru was nothing but sweet- and a bit low on confidence, to me. X3 @almighty: Have you noticed the differences in the style of bending between Toph and Haru. I had no problems with Haru. I think he was just a guy that was loyal to his family but, had no idea what to do to make things better. I could honestly believe the writers had the art dept. draw Haru as overly handsome to make his low self esteem issue all the less obvious. Gotta figure too, with his father gone, he had to assume the 'man of the house' role while still on the cusp of being between a teen and a man.. he was still searching for himself too. The Gaang helped him in the location department.

I fully support this ship! *gives the all powerful firenationstooge stamp of approval*
I truly expect Haru to come back sometime in season two (failing that, season three), perhaps even as an EK bending soldier. It was one of my "crazy predictions" before the new season aired.
*crosses fingers*
Oh yeah, I also agree with almighty's observations on Haru and Toph's bending stances and their personalities. Frankly, I think that the character personalities tend to match their elements...
For example Katara is normally soft and adaptive like a stream, but when angered, can be unpredictable and powerful like a tidal wave.
Zuko's emotional flares is synonomous with his element. Even Iroh can be considered to have a "fiery" personality. He is more of a "smoldering" flame. More calm and in tune with its environment, but still capable of violently burning up.
Toph is rude and uncompromising, like Earth, while Haru is gentle and passive, also like Earth.
Aang's overly friendly, carefree attitude is also similar to his element. A gentle breeze, should we say.
