That one about Toph is ironic.

I got carried away with this. I'm not enamored with today's music, but I'll give it a shot. Some of the songs I've chosen may be several years old because of my modern aversion. But it's okay, right? I mean, "Walkin' On Sunshine" isn't a song of today... it was made in '85! Anyway, don't expect too many Top 40 songs from me... you'll find maybe a handful.
Aang - "Falls On Me", by Fuel. It's a bit dark for Aang, but it brings to the forefront the seriousness of his destiny. Here's another... "I Alone", by Live. To Katara: "only love can save us now"... I'm no 'shipper, but he did admit his love for her. It could be platonic, if you want to go that way, too. I couldn't think of anything upbeat for Aang today.
Katara - "Heaven, Let Your Light Shine Down", by Collective Soul. It's optimistic and questioning, but with an edge, and I think it reflects Katara's devotion to her destiny as a friend of the Avatar.
Sokka - "Mambo Number 5", by Lou Bega. Sokka's a girl-magnet... what more needs to be said?
Toph - "So Far Away", by Crossfade. This song embodies her liberation from a life of make-believe... she's not a helpless little blind girl, and she doesn't have to pretend anymore. It'd be directed at her father.
Suki - Yeah, I like Daughtry's "It's Not Over" for her, too.
Zuko - Evanescence's "Going Under" is appropriate, especially if you apply the lyrics to his relationship with his father. Another good one is "Jumper", by Third Eye Blind. It deals with "cutting ties with all the lies that [he's] been living in"... it's just a really good match for him. "Burning Bright", by Shinedown reflects his indecisiveness. Most modern is Incubus's "Dig": apply it to Iroh. It's beautiful.
Azula - "Superbeast", by Rob Zombie. There used to be a kickin' AMV on YouTube featuring this song. It was high-octane and very cool. Breaking Benjamin's "Breath" is good for her, too, especially the first stanza. "Touch, Peel, And Stand", by Days Of The New... a song about abusive behavior. Azula is powerful and brutal, so my choices reflected that.
Ty Lee - "Barbie Girl", by Aqua. LOL... I apologize for this. I couldn't come up with anything more fitting. And the song is strangely addicting... and funny...
Mai - "The Road To Nowhere", by Ozzy Osbourne. "Live for today and not tomorrow"... she's always looking for something to do right now... it just seems to fit her, and the ending could reflect her feelings toward Zuko ( we don't know yet ).
I couldn't find one for Iroh...

Zuko - "Mordred's Lullaby" by Heather Dale My only son, each day you grow older, each moment I'm watching my vengeance unfold. The child of my body, the flesh of my soul, will die in returning the birthright he stole.
The whole song has a very creepy "Fire Nation Royal Family" feel to it. I saw it used in a very nice AMV about Ursa and Zuko's relationship.
"Colors" by Crossfade I know you feel alone, yeah, and no one else can figure you out. But don't you ever turn away from the ones that help you down. They'd love to save you. Don't you know they love to see you smile? But these colors that you've shined are surely not your style
Very much Zuko after the season two finale, because he's ignoring the advice of people who love him (Iroh) and doing things that just don't seem like him anymore.
"Don't Say a Word" by Sonata Arctica Mother always said "My son, do the noble thing. You have to finish what you started, no matter what. Now, sit, watch and learn. It's not how long you live, but what your morals say."
Does anyone else see Ursa having a talk with Zuko in this?

AmbrMerlinus: I love Crossfade's "Colors". It's very fitting for Zuko. I haven't heard the other two songs you listed, but the lyrics mesh well, too. Liking the Ursa connection on the last one. volcomxreckless: I haven't heard most of the songs you named, so it's hard to comment on them. "Glamorous" for Azula... hmmm... when I hear that title, I think more of Princess Peach from Super Mario... Azula isn't what I'd call "glamorous". She's not your typical sparkly-poo, frilly-frilly princess. Title aside, she doesn't act much like a princess at all. Then again, I've never heard the song, so the lyrics might be more fitting than my initial impression. I do like Daughtry's "It's Not Over" for Suki -- that's about as fitting as it gets, even if she's not alive. She would die fighting, saying to herself, "It's not over!!"...

Thanks for posting the lyrics.
Honestly, I'm not getting the connection to Azula. Even in an alternate universe, I couldn't see her swearing and rocking out on MTV, but maybe that's just me. Azula is tough-as-nails in a more direct, unapologetic, thankless way. The song seems too... teenybopper, but that's not really the word I'm looking for. Ah, well.
"One Girl Revolution" is pretty good for Suki, too.

one more Zuko song:
Chop Suey by System of a Down
Father, into your hands, why have you forsaken me? In your eyes forsaken me, in your thoughts forsaken me, in your heart forsaken me.
Of course, anything angsty has automatic ties to Zuko, but this one especially I think because of the lines cited.

"What Hurts the Most" by Rascal Flatts is a good song for the relationship between Zuko and Ursa, in my opinion. The analysis below is kind of more of my thoughts and theories, but oh well.
Even though going on with you gone Still upsets me Zuko knows Ursa is gone, whether she just left or was killed. Either way, I bet he misses her.
What hurts the most Was being so close Zuko and Ursa had a close mother/son relationship.
And having so much to say I get the feeling that Zuko never told his mom he loved her, probably due to that the royal family of the Fire Nation (most of them, anyway) see emotional attatchment as weakness (it sounds like I'm pointing out the obvious, doesn't it?).
And watching you walk away Kind of obvious, isn't it? Zuko DID watch Ursa walk away.
It's hard to deal with the pain Of losing you everywhere I go But I'm doing it This goes back to my thought that Zuko's dealing with the pain of Ursa being gone, though I doubt he really obsesses over it.
But I know if I could do it over I would trade, give away Show the words that I saved in my heart That I left unspoken Again, I'm guessing that Zuko never really told Ursa he loved her.
And that's pretty much it.
