...Or a factory. I can only do so much! I do have more done, I'm just showing you an arm right now 'cause it caused me so much grief and it posting it 'twas a way to relieve stress. I'm not going to show you the head and torso just yet. Fangirls might faint I want to try out some paint colors first. Not only that, but I discovered that the parts I'm using to assemble Zuko can be used as they are to very easily assemble another 'mystery' character! So I'll have two totally different figures when I'm done. I leave the mystery character a surprise for now but I will say that they, along with tea shop Zuko, are comprised of mostly recast Sokka parts. More to come later. Will keep you updated. Yes I did

That might be a way to go. I've given it some thought. The truth is I can't do these totally for free. I mean I do love you guys and all, but it's just way too much work and time for there to be no returns. (Also understand that I could only do a small number of these, like 10 or so, before I go mad-it's hand painted after all) So here's a way this might work for everyone including Mattel: Making these will require the actual pvc plastic loopies from a Mattel figure.(I just can't replicate them- they're way to fragile in resin) So, let's say you want Tea Shop Zuko: You go out and buy a Zuko from the store (money to Mattel- yay!) and mail it to me with a payment that will help compensate me for supplies. Silicone and Resin don't grow on trees (well resin does... but not this kind of resin) and it's not cheap. I won't charge money for my labor. That would be gettig into that "iffy" zone we talked about. But what you can do instead is buy me a figure that's lacking from my collection or one that I'd like to chop up. That way more money is funneled to Mattel and Viacom, I get more toys, and you get a cool custom figure. Again though, let's wait until I have something solid finished first. Okay? Alright, sounds good. Did you talk to Jade about giving the custom action figures out as prizes? Because I would definitely enter a contest if the figures were offered as prizes. Anyway, keep up the good work! I love the progress on Zuko's arm!

Aww, thanks Blue Chibi! I have new exclusive photos of alternatecoppa at work in his studio... LinkGasp! I got caught in my workshop while bald and shirtless again! ;D Just for that, here's a pic of the torso just after the initial sculpt: It's still looks rough, I know. It'll be sanded and worked over with steel wool to smooth it out. Then, it'll be ready for re-casting. I won't be able to work on this for a few days thanks to real life butting in, but I'll still post some more pics in the meantime... The casting and molding skillz- Not that long actually you can walk into almost any hobby shop and find the materials you need to do it. Just follow the directions and don't breath the fumes... Oh and don't let the stuff touch your skin either... That part's really fun! Sculpting- That takes some experience. I've been doing it for a long time all the way from a brat who played with playdough to now using sculpy and dental tools. I find that if you've studied drawing and have skills and experience in 2D rendering, you already have the foundations for sculpting. You take the same rules for form and shape and just translate it into clay instead of paper. The funniest thing I learned about toy prototyping and industrial design is that it's not really as big & complicated a mystery as it seems. Just a lot of busy work. You can buy the supplies anywhere, all you need is some simple step by step guidance and some critial thinking skills and you're on your way.

Yeah, I know! I was really upset when I found out that they had put a mess of Avatar Roku figures and still none of the girls.

You..are..a genius!
Mattel should be BEGGING you to work for them. You should..sell them on eBay or something!(Stupid copyright laws..) Now that you have all of the molds for the characters, you could make as many as you wanted. You should seriously get ahold of Mattel about this. They might be moved into action by your stunning creations. Great work! I hope Zuzu survives the chop block!
