"Yay!" Aranjee cheered, dragging her friend outside, by her arm. It was an absolutely gorgeous day in Phamakian, so Aranjee didn't need to wear her rain coat and rubber boots. The warm sunshine felt refreshing on her bare arms.
Aranjee chose to bring Mashnipfaeri to the Phamakian Blossom Garden, the largest on the palace grounds. Phamakian Blossoms were the symbol of the Phamakian Kingdom and where the name was derived from, so Aranjee figured that Mash might have an added connection to the flowers.
"Okay, let's see where to start. . ." Aranjee muttered, once the two had arrived in a secluded corner of the garden. There was a small pond, and soft, damp grass. Next to the pond was a group of the small, bright blossoms.
"I think it's best if you learn through example," the Orange Queen told her friend. And with that, she began lifting up her right arm, at a slow and steady pace. Soon, the ground in front of her was shaking and roaring.
Then, the trunk of a rather small tree poked through a whole in the ground, and the earth that had been replaced by the tree went flying in all directions. With quick reflexes, the two queens dodged the misplaced dirt.
After the trunk grew up to it's full height, the ground ceased motion. Now, thin, long branches were reach out. Like arms, they stretched upward, trying to grab the sun. Leaves, now too were protruding from the branches, and in a matter of minutes, a full grown orange tree was sitting in the garden.
"Now, watch what I'm doing and then try to do the same with that flower," Aranjee pointed to an abnormally tall Phamakian Blossom.
Mashnipfaeri nodded.
Aranjee stood in front of the tree, eyes closed for about ten seconds. When she opened her eyes, the tree moved one branch on its left toward the ground and it swatted a fly. "Now you try," Aranjee said, smiling.

"Um...okay...I'll...try..." The young queen sighed nervously, stepping up towards the tree. She closed her eyes, and, searching deep within herself for the ability to do this, thought something.
Nothing happened.
"It doesn't work," she moaned.

A lone figure struggled through the drifts, and tried to ignore the wind in her face. Her white clothing made her nearly invisable to any observers, but the land around her was empty of life. Still, she pushed forward, not knowing where she was going, but unable to turn back.

"Well. . ." Aranjee started. "You have to think it, think it loud so the flower can hear. Plants only like doing things for us if we are sure, without a doubt that we want it. To be able to perform plant 'mind' control, you must feel boundless confidence. Your confidence must be as limitless as the sky," Aranjee made a dramatic hand gesture upward.
"Listen, " the Orange Queen continued. "You just met this flower, so it might be a little resistant to obey you. Just try to talk to it, assure it you are a righteous person. Imagine yourself communicating with the plant and it responding. It will work if you try hard enough." Aranjee smiled at her friend.

This time, she thought. Loud. I know I may seem strange to you, she thought. But please give me a chance. For the longest time, she just stood there, her thoughts, her brain blank, until she felt a pang of words reverberate throughout the walls of her mind. You're the queen of Phamakian.Immediately, a rush of joy burst from her. "Oh, my gosh! It just spoke! To me, in my mind! Just spoke to me!" she screamed happily.

"Mashy, that's wonderful!" Aranjee hugged her friend. "Let's go to the Rosebud Cafe to celebrate!"

Mash clapped her hands gleefully, but before she and her friend dashed off, she thought a quick thank you to the plant. The two clasped hands and, racing off, began laughing.

Later that night, Mashnipfaeri and Aranjee were sitting in the guest room Aranjee was using while in Phamakian. They were chatting, excited about Mash's new power and about leaving to go to visit Pirogoeth the next morning.
"Hmm. . . this room is missing something, " Aranjee told the Blossom Queen. "I know!" exclaimed Aranjee. Then, she stood up from where she was sitting on the and waved her arms all around her. Then, in a wave, starting from where the Orange Queen was standing everything in the room turned to a shade of orange or topaz.
That's better!" Aranjee said contentedly. "Hey, have you heard about those three fighters running around the Macalanian Kingdom? I wrote to Piro about them but she didn't say anything." Aranjee had no idea what made her bring up the subject, she had almost forgotten all about it.

"She didn't say anything?" her brows furrowed as she popped a handful of nuts into her mouth. "That's strange. I mean, I don't know too much about them, but normally, Piro would say something." She chewed a few more nuts before saying. "We haven't written Luna back. Here, do you want to? I'll do it if you want me to though."

It was nearing dark when the figure spotted a light piercing through the storm. She headed towards it, trying desperately to stay awake. She was weak from the lack of food and light, but she continued to follow the flickering beam in the darkness.
As she drew nearer she saw that the light was coming from a building, a large castle made entirely of ice. Cloak flapping from the strong wind, she neared the great doorway and the castle of ice. When she had nearly arrived, darkness began to cloud her vision and she sank into unconciousness, just outside the doorway.

"I'll write Luna back," Aranjee said. Once she found a quill, parchment, and ink (which she turned orange) Aranjee began writing to her friend from Hountai.
Dear Luna,
Tomorrow Mash and I are leaving to visit Piro. We will see you in about a week. I am so excited. And don't worry about your mother wanting to choose a suitor for you. Piro, Mash, and I will be able to convince her otherwise. . . Well at least I hope so. . .
When we get to Piro's in two days, we will ask her where Arden is and make sure that he gets home safely. You're probably right, Piro might just be being lazy.
Sincerely, Aranjee the Orange Queen
Putting the note in an envelope, Aranjee stood up and brought it to Jakian who was sitting on his perch, watching her right. "Here, Jakian. Take this to Luna," Aranjee told the huge bird as he flew off into the distance.

[Heh, I missed much.... ^^]
Piro staggered into her chamber and sat down on her bed, breathing heavily. The mongoose [Mongooses? Mogeese?] had finally given up, but Piro's people had suffered greatly. Blood ran down her arm, and she laid a clothe over it, wincing slightly. After a moment of pause, she looked up and saw letters unopened on her nightstand. She slowly got to her feet and brushed her hair out her eyes while picking the letters up. She blinked twice and re-read the letter. "They're coming....?" She said quietly and then shoke her head. "I better get ready.."

The next morning dawned bright. A flimsy mist hovered over the dew-covered ground, blanketing it in thin cloud as a golden globe moved upwards. Layers of rose and vivid peach sat at the eastern horizon, welcoming the sun as it started its approach towards the middle of the sky. The carriage jolted as it went over a large rock, the two queens bumping inside. Decked in a light, pale blue gown with a short, but flowing trail, the Blossom Queen fidgeted in her seat. "This is a nice dress, but it itches." She exchanged glances with Aranjee, who was donned in soft orange robes dripping with topazes. "Your outfit looks comfortable," Mash added.

I missed you!!] Piro looked outside and saw a figure slumped by her castle wall. She winced, then walked down the stairs quickly. Seeing a girl, she put her arm around her, half picking her up, and half dragging her. She winced and put down the girl, touching her shoulder gingerly as it began to bleed again. She looked down at the girl and touched her face gently. "Excuse me... Are you alright, Miss?"

"It is," Aranjee said. But I'm going to be freezing when we get to Macalania. "I'm glad I brought my coat, I almost forgot it when I was leaving Unai."
The carriage shook some more as they crossed an old, rickety wooden bridge. "We'll have to camp out tonight. It's safer just to travel during the day and we could never make it to the Ice Palace in one day." Aranjee knew the ways to all of her friend's homes really well. Overall the Orange Queen had a great sense of direction.
"I hope Piro got the letter I wrote to her saying that we were coming," Aranjee wondered. "She didn't respond to it."
