Zen looked over and a saw the group of girls he was with earlier. "I suppose someone, or a group of someones, is looking for me." Zen sighed. "I suppose it would be rude to let them stand there, but their all a little slow. Well, thank you for allowing me the pleasure of talking with you Mizuki. I hope we can chat again." With that said the took Mizuki's hand, kissed it, and went toward the group of girls.

Her cheeks a little pink, Mizuki sat back in her chair. This night was turning out to be a little interesting. Her brother walked over to her, holding the hand of the young Earth Kingdom girl.
"Hey, Mizuki, this is Sayari. She's from Omashu." Haruka said breathlessly. Mizuki nodded to the girl and they both sat down.
"Who were you talking to?" Sayari asked, staring at Zen. "He's rather attractive." Haruka followed Sayari's gaze, and jealously said, "He's not that good looking. And he's from the Fire Nation!"
"Who cares Haruka! He was nice, and remember, the Fire Nation is hosting this party." She turned to Sayrai. "His name is Zen, by the way. Are you having fun."
"Uh huh." Sayari said, still looking at Zen. Haruka, noticing that his 'date' was getting interested in someone else, quickly pulled her up and said, "Cm'on lets go for another dance!" Mizuki watched with a smirk on her face as Haruka pulled the poor girl along after her.

Zen sat a table with the girls and did some basic firebending tricks such as lighting his glass on fire and then putting out. The girls weren't much for conversation though and ever now and again he would look back at Mizuki with a subtle smile on his face. His sister soon approached, which for the first time in his life he was thankful for, and said that she needed to talk to him. She sat down and glared at the girls until they left. When they were all gone she turned to him with a seriousness written all over her face. "At the banquet we need to make sure to talk with some of the more important people. It is hard for Tenkei to raise us financially so we need to try and get some donations from people." As Zen was about to say that he remembered Megume cut in, "I know you know. I just needed to make sure." The song ended and everyone politely clapped and a particularly dressed servant came out and announced that dinner will be served as soon as everyone finds a place to eat. With that he left. Zen and Megumi found their seats next to their godparent and waited for the main course to be served.

Mizuki found a seat close by Zen's seat. A girl was sitting next to him, most likely his sister or another family member. Her brother sat on her right, rubbing his stomach.
"It's about time! I'm starving!" He said, looking around hungrily. Mizuki rolled her eyes.
"Even after all that other stuff you ate? You're still hungry?" She asked in disbelief. Haruka glared at her and then saw Zen. He grinned.
"So, had to sit close to your boyfriend, did you?" He asked slyly. She blushed and gave her brother a death stare.
"He's not my boyfriend." She hissed. Then they brought out the first meal.

The first course was amazing. It had something from every nation. There was fish from both the southern and northern tribes, sushi from the earth kingdom, lobster and crab from the fire nation, and a medley of other things. Zen took a little of everything until his plate was full. He broke his chopsticks and looked at his sister to make a smart remark and saw Mizuki sitting two chairs beyond his sister. Unfortunately for Zen his sister caught his gaze before he could hide it and looked at Mizuki. She turned back to him with a smile that showed she knew what he was looking at, "So, found a new friend have you?" she said in a tone that seemed to reflect that she believed she had the upper hand.
Zen felt trapped for a moment by his sister's gaze. His confidence returned to him however and he replied simply, "Yes." He stood up and walked over and took a seat on the other side of his sister next to Mizuki. "Hello Mizuki," he said with a smile as he sat down next to her.

Both Mizuki and Haruka were suprised. Getting over it quickly, however, Mizuki replied, "Hello, Zen. Long time, no see." She smiled and poured herself and Zen some tea. Haruka began to pile everything onto his plate, sometimes stopping to eat whatever he as holding. Mizuki rolled her eyes.
"Have you met my brother? This is Haruka. Please excuse his behavior, it doesn't get better if you get to know him. If fact, if you can believe it, he gets worse." Haruka glared at his sister, a bite of fish halfway in his mouth. She took several things from the plates surrounding her and put them on her own. Smiling, she asked, "Is that your sister? You two kind of look alike."

Zen looked back at his sister who was still a little shocked at what he had done but, was getting over it, and angry. "Yes, that would be my lovable sister. A bit of a temper, but once you get to know her she normally gets better." Zen said as he turned back taking the tea from her with thank you. He took a bite of food and looked up at their host, Zuko. "I've seen him a few times at parties like this and he once came to talk to master, but I don't think I've ever heard him smile."

Mizuki also looked toward the Fire Lord. He was talking to Lord Iroh, his face grim. He can't be much older then me, or most of the benders here. she thought.
"I think the war changed everyone. Him more than most." She said quietly. Some servants were bringing out the next entree, steaming platters of vegetables and sauces. Haruka grinned and sat back.
"Hmm...more food." He mumbled.

Zen looked up at the new Fire Lord, "Yea I think the war probably changed him, but I never knew him before the war. Heck, I don't even know him now, personally anyway." He looked back at Mizuki, "What do plan on doing after the ball? I mean are you leaving right away. It might be nice to stay and see the fire nation, you probably won't be here often. Besides it must be a two or three day trip back to the Earth Kingdom."

Omni sipped her tea, and nodded.
"I'm actually staying with a cousin. She moved here and married a Fire Nation soldier, so she lives in the Fire Nation, close by. I- we'll be here for about a month, depending on whether Ume, my cousin, will keep us." She smiled and took a bite of an unusual vegetable. Savoring its taste, she looked around and noticed that Avatar, smiling wide, talking to Master Katara. Everyone at the higher table seemed pretty happy, except Lord Iroh and Fire Lord Zuko. She also saw Master Kohaku laughing and smiling. She sighed lightly.
"Sometimes, I really wish I could earthbend. It would be....wonderful." Haruka sat back once again in his seat, rubbing his swollen stomach.
"That...was...so...good." He whispered.

Zen looked at Mizuki's brother then talking to Mizuki he said, "Your trip might be shortened once your cousin finds out your brother's eating habits."

She laughed.
"He might actually sink the boat on the way back!"
Haruka glared at Mizuki, but refrained from glancing in Zen's direction, instead mumbling something incoherent to himself. She patted him on the shoulder as the music started up again, allowing the dancers, once again, to grace the floor. The songs were slow because of full bellies, and Mizuki thought she might wait it out a little longer. Haruka staggered upright said somethign about fresh air and walked in the genral direction of the garden. Mizuki sighed.
Turning to Zen, she asked, "Do you live far from here? I really hope we can talk again before I leave to go back to the Earth Kingdom."

"I live south of here, about 10 miles. I live with my sister and my master. She took us in after our mother died but, since my sister was only 1 when we moved in she calls Tenkei our mother. I suppose she really is though, in a way. Anyway, what part of the city are you staying in?"

"Ume lives fairly close to the palace. Her husband is not a very high-ranking soldier, but he still must be pretty close the Fire Lord at all times."
She pulled out her fan again, her dress now unbearably tight after he had eaten. She didn't want Zen to think she was crazy, so she waved the fan slowly and looked in the direction of the Fire Lord. The Masters were now receiving the guests, benders and not. The Fire Lord was also meeting all the guests, his uncle never leaving his side.
