Chapter Two Scandel The three brothers looked at each other with worry and confusion. "Jiang? Ichigo, you can't be serious? What do you mean War?" Ken asked to his siblings. "Ken, look, there had been some attacks on ports, the Omashu Milarty and Ba Sing Sae posted decree stating that all able men from this village should serve the Omashu Milatry and protect the ports." Jiang explained to his brother. Ken looked down at the ground. "So you are leaving me Behind?" Ichigo looked away, "Ma, needs help, We've dicided that it's best that stay." Ken looked distraught. "Fine.....I understand."

It was the second week already and Riko was baffled. In all that time not a single council meeting and it frustrated her to no end! This mission was supposed to be a piece of cake but it was turning into more of a waiting game then she had expected. Supplies were ready since last week, polished and ready to go. However in all that time Riko had accidently walked into the city hall and to her delight there would be a council meeting tonight. This one was also confirmed which had her grinning the whole night.
Riko walked over to the Fire Nation chest to the right of the little living room table and opened it with a small click emitting from its hollow top carved to the brim with smoke-like dragons. Inside was a black top with fishnet sleeves and fingerless gloves. Black pants with a leather sash and black silk gymnast slippers completed the ensemble. Searching lightly through her red satchel she found a black silken handkerchief that would give her outfit the final touch.
“Tonight, my mission shall be complete.” Riko murmured to herself as she quickly closed all of the windows and bolted the door. Riko undressed till she was wearing nothing but her undergarments and hastily slipped on the top, pants, and slippers. The leather sash had many holes to tie whatever one wanted. Riko reached into her satchel again and took out a sack the size of ones hand which were filled with smoke bombs. Coiling the rope she had also bought to a manageable length she attached it as well to the sash. Finally Riko slipped on the fingerless gloves and covered the lower half of her face with the silk handkerchief. Sighing she took a black hair tie and tied her hair in the usual high ponytail, sheathed a butterfly knife, wrapped herself in a black robe that fluttered to a stop at her waist, and jumped out the window into the cold night air.
Not a single soul was awake this night but Riko spied a light coming from the ice temple that where the Northern Tribe held all of their meetings and swiftly ran towards it. Heading straight for the temple Riko’s heart gave a loud thump as she leapt into the air landing a kick straight onto the head of one of the two unsuspecting Waterbenders. This caused him to instantly fall as he was knocked out and without wasting any time Riko side stepped the last Waterbender who promptly fell onto his back, eyes wide. Riko delivered a swift kick to his head and he too was knocked out albeit with a much bigger bruise then the other. Exhaling a chilly breath Riko wondered why there were only two people on guard.
“Well, guess they underestimated me or they actually did trust me not to cause trouble.” Said Riko with a curt smirk.
She knew that going straight up the stairs would probably not be a wise idea but spotted an open window to the top right.
“Perfect.”
Walking over to it she noticed that the window was at least fifteen feet off the ground but that wouldn’t be a problem. Taking the rope and the single butterfly knife at her disposal tying it with a strong knot, Riko took aim and after several attempts the knife had finally latched onto the ice of the window. Giving a few quick tugs to steady it Riko decided at last to climb it. Once at the top Riko disposed of the rope but held the butterfly knife at the ready.
“Strange, why isn’t anyone on patrol?”
The vast hallway stretched for quite a bit until it stopped at a closed door which didn’t emit a single sound. This was becoming strange, it almost seemed like a set up of some sort but Riko brushed her fear off and approached the icy door with caution. Butterfly knife close to her breast, Riko slowly opened the door to find not a single soul in it! Her breath began to become difficult as her eyes widened in shock.
“Well, miss Riko of the Fire Nation. I admire your skills in stealth but I’m afraid you’ve fallen into our trap, and as we predicted you have become the spy in our midst.”

Only now did he see his imminent defeat coming. Earlier in the match it seemed like Kirijin was in control, landing blow after thundering blow. That had all changed when General Ashi cut his attack off from the rest of his body. Then began what General Ashi always called, " the Sixty-four moves". As the moves went by, Kirijin watched the battle turn until he was completely slaughtered.
"I hate pai sho", Kirijin screamed as he tossed the board across the room. As the various pieces scattered across the floor Kirijin's breathing began to get deeper as he quickly approached a frenzy. It was until he heard his general's disapproving murmur that Kirijin calmed down, if only a little bit.
"The purpose for this game, the reason I force you to play, is it helps show how each general thinks or how a warrior fights", General Ashi said in a manner that one would correct a child with, which only served to infuriate Kirijin even more, "You attack in quick aggressive bursts, but since you lack the foresight you quite often either leave yourself unguarded or don't have enough power in your attack to sustain your drive."
"I am plenty powerful!" Kirijin objected, carrying on his tantrum by tossing the already flipped table once more. Ashi was unmoved, continuing his dissection of Kirijin's technique. Finally reaching his breaking point, Kirijin lunged at his master.
He didn't feel the three light taps. No, all Kirijin felt was body go almost completely numb as he went crashing into the wall behind his master. Unable to move, Kirijin's vision was soon filled by the one they called the White Shirshu, whose mole like face and white hair only being half of what earned the old man his name. Kneeling near the limp body, Kirijin realized that General Ashi had placed a knife to his throat.
"Listen and listen good, boy", General Ashi whispered coldly into Kirijin's ear, "I was just about to show you the next plateau in your mastery of firebending, but now I am not so sure. So here is how we are going to do this."
Kirijin's world seemed to spin as he was moved onto his belly. Then a solid strike at the base of his spine, followed by a series of others up along the spine, drove away the paralysis. Kirijin lifted himself from the ground, trying his best to stand up straight despite the dull ache in the small of his back.
General Ashi had moved over to a small chest in the corner of his cabin. Kirijin say him fish through various papers until he pulled out a sealed scroll. Tossing the scroll over to Kirijin, the general seemed to smile at some inside joke.
"What is this?"
"A test Kirijin. I am giving you command of the garrison of Ku'Yei when we get there. Your job is to keep order and, most importantly, keep those nobles on the island. At least, until we can carry the mission out."
Kirijin bowed and walked out of his master's cabin into his own bunk. Opening the scroll, Kirijin quickly read through all the things that were expected from his command.
It wasn't till much later that Kirijin caught onto something. The orders made various references to him personally, despite being written well before they disembarked for Ku’Yei. Did General Ashi plan that whole encounter, was General Ashi doing in real life to Kirijin what he always did on the pai sho board? Setting the orders ablaze helped slow the anger that he felt about being manipulated so easily.
When the boat docked, Kirijin was beginning to calm down a little. He had just been given command of the entire garrison of a key fortress on the eve of the most important events in Fire Nation history, and if he did well he'd finally be given the training he needed to attain mastery of firebending. It was all coming together.

I would be honored to take the war acceptance scrolls to the Chief, General Manoko!, Nokoro said with deep pride and honor. General Manoko was ready to take the trainees who had passed all the tests to war, but he needed the Chief to approve of his plans, so of course, he sent his most advanced student to take the scrolls, who happened to be Nokoro.
I can't believe it! I'm finally going to fight in the war! I am not going to let the Northern Water Tribe down!, Nokoro thought to himself with a grin of utter excitement, while running to the inner city. He had a long way to go since the training camp was in the outskirts of the Northern Water Tribe. While impulses of euphoria and flows of adrenaline increased every second, he ran for about ten minutes, until he reached the main city.
Wow, home. I haven't been here for about a month!, he pondered as he continued walking to the center of the city. He considered visiting his parents, but he knew that every minute was of the essence and that he needed to complete the important task bestowed upon him as quickly and laconically as possible. He almost arrived at the chief's temple, when he unexpectedly saw Riko. He was about to say hello, but he saw her attack the two waterbending guards at the front! Nokoro was absolutely stupefied.
How could she do this? I thought she was my friend! I trusted her!, Nokoro speculated with extreme confusion as his excited, euphoric mood turned into rage and fury. He quietly followed Riko with cautious stealth, so that she wouldn't realize his presence. But instead of going up the stairs, she used her rope to enter through a window.
So she really does have evil intentions! If she really wasn't up to ill deeds, she would've gone up the stairs normally., Nokoro said to himself as he went up the stairs. He knew how important his task was, but this was more crucial, so he stored the war papers in his parka for later.
He still felt the excruciating pain from his hurt feelings of Riko's betrayal. As he went to the Chief to warn him of Riko, he thought, I guess all citizens of the Fire Nation truly are evil. They can't be trusted, so they have to be taken down!, and exhaled an expressive sigh of disappointment. His disappointment was taken up another notch when he realized that the Chief wasn't in his quarters. He guessed that he already knew about Riko's unplanned visit and set up a trap to catch her.
If there is a trap, it should be in the meeting room because that's where Riko would go if she was trying to get secret information about the Northern Water Tribe., Nokoro convinced himself. He ran to the meeting room with immense speed.
When he got there, he comprehended that Riko had already fallen into the trap when he heard the Chief say, Well, Miss Riko of the Fire Nation. I admire your skills in stealth but I'm afraid you've fallen into our trap, and as we predicted you have become the spy in our midst.
So, she really is a spy! Well this time, I'm not going to show her any mercy!, Nokoro decided as a furious, battle-ready expression swept over his serious face.
He entered the room and stood next to the Chief as he said, Well Riko, looks like I was right! You are a spy and the entire Fire Nation is evil![/color], and bored into her soul with his drilling eyes of sheer disappointment and enraged aggravation.

"Aoi." Maiku called again. "She must be in a deep sleep," he thought to himself.
Then Maiku heard people beginning to gather outside. He got up off of his bed and went to see what was happening.
As he exited the tent, he saw a general standing up front of all the soldiers.
He began to speak, "Soldiers, our spy Riko has been captured by the Northern Water Tribe. Because of this we are launching our invasion earlier than originally planned. You are part of the invasion force being sent to the Northern Water Tribe."
A loud burst of cheers and shouts erupted from the soldiers. "Also," the general continued, "We will need a two of you to volunteer to rescue Riko. Who will do it."
Maiku looked around waiting to see who would raise their hand. After waiting several minutes Maiku raised his hand saying "I'll do it."
"Very well," the general said, "assemble your team and report to my tent for your briefing."
"Yes Sir," Maiku replied.
Maiku ran back into the medical tent. "What am I getting myself into he thought to himself."
"Aoi wake up," Maiku said.

Aoi woke with the sound of Maiku's voice. "Wh-what?" She asked. "It's so early..." her eyelids drooped, closing over her eyes again. Heaving a sigh, she murmured, "Fine...what is it? It better be good!"
Her head throbbed immensely, stomach growling with hunger. "Do we have any food, by the way?"

Lan Shen sat in her room, ashamed of her previous incident with her Sifu. She held her pipa protectively, absently plucking strings as she reflected.
Why can't I seem to do this right? How am I supposed to help stop this war, if I can't even do a simple firebending move?
"Darling?" A soft voice was heard outside her room curtain. "Yes? Come in mother." Lan Shen replyed. Lanyi pushes both halves of the curtain aside, and walks into the room. "Still sulking?" she chided. Her daughter turned her head, Sulking is for losers...
Lanyi frowned, obviously disliking her daughters reaction to all of this. "Lan Shen, if ever wish to become a master in anything, you have to practice. And if you mess up, don't spend your days angsting. Get over it and try again," her voice softened, "Don't worry, I know you'll excel in anything you set your mind to." Lan Shen looked back at her mother, "Thanks mom, I'm sorry for my behavoir."
A loud knock was heard from their front door. Lanyi gave her daughter a hug before rushing to the door. Sliding it open, she saw non other than Officer Xun. He was a kind, but authoritive man in his 40's. "Hello Lanyi," Xun said, with a stern look.
Lan Shen hears Xun's voice from her room and groans. Not him again... She walks over, standing proudly by her mother.
"Hello Xun," she replyed, bowing respectfully. "How's your playing? Are you practicing your pipa everyday?" "Yes, my teacher," Xun said, giving a small smile. "Hello Lan Shen, you haven't been causing any riots I see." "I would never dream of it." Lan Shen said with a grimace. "To cut this short," Xun added, ignoring Lan Shen's comment, "I have wonderful news. By order of the Divine Fire Lord himself, you have enlisted as medics for the war. Congradulations!"

“Where is Noko?” Shinasha stepped out of the tent to see a beautiful sunrise, and the lone figure of Tetsu watching it with a cup of tea in his hand. -“He went up to the temple, to inform them that we have arrived. It shouldn’t be long before someone comes down here to greet you and speak with me.” “Speak with you? Shouldn’t you have gone with him then?” -“I wouldn’t dare to leave my guest alone in a place like this. And besides, you look like you could use some company.” A friendly smile crept over his face, and Shinasha smiled back. Sitting down next to him, she poured herself a cup of tea. “So, what festivities will be open to me?” -“Well, from this point we’ll have a marvelous view of the bison races and the glider races. And with any luck they’ll let you in on the seaside supper – the ritual feast where all four elements come together. It’s one of the best parts of the festival if I say so myself,” said Tetsu, smiling, and rubbing his belly, “and they build a bonfire on the floodline, representing the joining of the four elements.” Shinasha tried to imagine the feast; the people, the entertainment… but her mind got stuck on the food. Her stomach growled. “So, what’s for breakfast?” -“Patience. Our supplies ran out, so I asked Noko to bring some. He shouldn’t be too long.” His stomach growled loudly. -“I hope.” He added with a grin.
Meanwhile, Noko had reached the temple. Preparations were finished, and everybody was enjoying themselves one way or another. Noko laughed along with a few people, making small chats every now and then, but he made his way into the temple. Knocking on the door of one of the elders, he entered and delivered a small written note. The elder read it and nodded. Soon two elders were preparing to leave, and some people were asked to come along to keep Master Tetsu and his guest company during the day…

Riko gave a sigh and turned around to face the Chief, three other Tribesmen, and Nokoro standing before her. She felt a tinge of pain shoot through her whole being as she saw Nokoro’s face etched with complete disappointment and enraged aggravation. Seeing him that way pulled at her heart for she didn’t know until now how bad she would feel for betraying someone. Her grandmother always said that everyone else aside from the family and the Fire Lord were scum and should be dealt with accordingly. Riko’s breath began to quicken as her grandmother’s lectures began to surface from inside her.
Dropping her head and raising the butterfly knife Riko took on a fighting stance.
“Yes, I am a spy. I was sent to gather delicate information to ensure the victory of the Fire Nation.”
Raising her head, Riko’s hand layed itself on the satchel at her side, a delicate string fluttered loosely and she pulled on it just enough for her hand to slip into it.
“I’m sorry Nokoro. If this was a different time we might’ve been friends but my actions are only for my country. My country, my family are the only ones who are my friends. I have been trained at an early age for one thing only and that is to serve the Fire Lord. His orders must be upheld whether I want to or not. I’m just a pawn after all.”
Riko turned her head to the side while still keeping a watchful eye on the Waterbenders before her. Apparently they were waiting for her to make the first move because they hadn’t taken their eyes off her or made an action whatsoever aside from getting even more enraged. There was only one way to get out of this and it was down the icy stairs of the temple. Riko faced them again as the Chieftain replied.
“I’m sorry as well. Very sorry that tonight, you will become a prisoner of war. Sorry that your life is the way it is but this is war we are in and you betrayed our trust. I suggest you come quietly for as you can see Riko you are greatly outnumbered and the night is still young. Fighting us now would be suicide.”
As the Chieftain finished he took out scrolls from his parka which he then handed to one of the Tribesmen to his right. Those scrolls had information. Information on the Northern Water Tribe’s plans and Riko wasn’t going to get out of here empty handed.
“I guess I’ll just have to take my chances. I also beg to differ, just because I’m outnumbered doesn’t mean I don’t have a fighting chance. My grandmother always told me things that weren’t true about the other nations. Then again, I could be wrong after all the things I know about the other nations are from books and you can never trust books about people which would make my grandmother correct in this case. I’m sorry it had to be this way.”
The air was thick with suspense as Riko finished. There was no turning back now. Riko threw three smoke bombs from the satchel and attacked. The smoke had surprised and disoriented all of them, which was all she needed. She ran towards the first Watertribesman and cleanly slit his throat with her butterfly knife as she whispered in his ear.
“Control yourself, let others do what they will.”
That was one down as she went to the other one to her left and promptly did the same actions.
“This doesn’t mean you are weak.”
That was the second one and there was one to go, but not for long. Riko felt as if she was a snake slithering through the grass as she crept up behind the last man who she knew had the scrolls. She carefully took it out of his parka and without a thought she brought him down as well.
“Control your heart. Obey the principles of life.”
Strangely she felt herself getting teary eyed as she heard the last man fall on the ground, cold and dead as the other two. The smoke had finally cleared in that instant and she faced the bewildered face of the chief on her right and the face of frustration of Nokoro to her left. This had now become a three-way battle. Riko tore of the handkerchief on her mouth and wiped the butterfly knife clean, she pocketed the knife and took on another fighting stance preparing herself to Firebend and said
“This doesn’t mean others are stronger.”

"Sorry Aoi, but I don't have any food, I hear that they are serving turtle duck eggs in the mess hall though." Maiku said.
"Now back to why I came," Maiku said, "We are heading into battle against the Nothern Water Tribe. More important than that though is one of our spies has been captured."
"I am in charge of the group going to save her, but no one else wants to join me. So I was wondering if you would come with me." He said.

She can't run away from this. She has to fight us! She will be stopped!, Nokoro convinced himself as he cautiously watched Riko and waited for her response with a nervously impatient expression.
Yes, I am a spy. I was sent to gather delicate information to ensure the victory of the Fire Nation., she replied as she dropped her head, raised her butterfly knife, and took on a fighting stance.
Nokoro's eyebrows formed a V as he thought, Why is the victory of the Fire Nation so important anyway? Well, it doesn't matter, because the Fire Nation will have everything but victory!
I'm sorry Nokoro. If this was a different time we might've been friends but my actions are only for my country. My country, my family are the only ones who are my friends. I have been trained at an early age for one thing only and that is to serve the Fire Lord. His orders must be upheld whether I want to or not. I'm just a pawn after all., she continued as she raised her head and slipped her hand into her satchel. Nokoro was starting to get annoyed from her selfishness for her country and family.
Doesn't she have a mind of her own? Can't she make her own decisions? What is she, a slave of the Fire Nation?, he pondered as Riko turned her head to the side. He felt a little sympathy for her uncontrolled role in the war. But, the sympathy quickly disappeared, like a flame being extinguished, when he reminded himself that Riko deceived him.
I'm sorry as well. Very sorry that tonight, you will become a prisoner of war. Sorry that your life is the way it is but this is war we are in and you betrayed our trust. I suggest you come quietly for as you can see Riko you are greatly outnumbered and the night is still young. Fighting us now would be suicide., Chief Konaro replied to Riko's explanation as she faced them again. Then, he removed some scrolls from his parka and gave it to one of the officials. Nokoro knew that those scrolls were related to the war and had the Northern Water Tribe's precious war tactics.
Why did he give the war plans to that official? Doesn't he know that the whole reason Riko came here was to get those scrolls? Why would he let her know where they are? Wait a minute! Those aren't the real war plans!, he thought as he remembered something important that General Manoko told him...
Nokoro Harima! Listen carefully! These scrolls are more than they seem. They aren't only war acceptance scrolls! These scrolls also contain the most recent plans and information about the Northern Water Tribe's war tactics! Chief Konaro specifically told me to hide the war tactics in the war acceptance papers because he suspects that the Fire Nation girl is a spy and that she is trying to get the Northern Water Tribe's war plans so that the Fire Nation will have an advantage! He is keeping fake scrolls that contain completely incorrect information about our plans for the war, so if she really is a spy and she does try to steal our war tactics, she will ironically put the Fire Nation at a huge disadvantage, if she even escapes! He also told me to send these scrolls tonight, because he knows that that's when she will try to get the information if she's a spy. This information is extremely crucial Nokoro, and I trust you to use it wisely! Now give these to Chief Konaro, and be aware of the spy! Good Luck!, said General Manoko...
At that time, Nokoro believed that Riko really wasn't a spy and that she wouldn't do something like that, but he still accepted the task and followed orders. Now, he regrets doubting Chief Konaro's suspicions and feels obligated to finish the task correctly.
I guess I'll just have to take my chances. I also beg to differ, just because I'm outnumbered doesn't mean I don't have a fighting chance. My grandmother always told me things that weren't true about the other nations. Then again, I could be wrong after all the things I know about the other nations are from books and you can never trust books about people which would make my grandmother correct in this case. I'm sorry it had to be this way., Riko answered as she threw three smoke bombs from her satchel. Nokoro's heart started beating very quickly as his mind was dominated by confusion. He couldn't see a thing! He waterbended the ice under him to create a shield around his entire body so that Riko wouldn't be able to attack him and find the actual war scrolls. He heard faint whispers, the sounds of a butterfly knife cutting through the air, and three people hitting the ground. Finally, the smoke slowly cleared into the air as Nokoro melted the ice shield and his vision gradually became more vivid. He saw the three dead officials on the ground, Chief Konaro to his left, and Riko holding the fake scrolls.
Oh great spirits of Tui and La! What has she done? She just murdered three officials! Well, at least she doesn't have the real war information. She actually took the bait! I must not show any sign of victory or she will realize that something is wrong!, Nokoro reminded himself with extreme effort as he forced a fake expression of frustration over his face.
This doesn't mean others are stronger., Riko said as she tore the handkerchief off her mouth, wiped the butterfly knife clean, pocketed the knife, and went into a firebending fighting stance. Nokoro ignored her irrelevant response and remembered that coincidentally, Chief Konaro was one of the most advanced waterbenders in the whole entire Northern Water Tribe.
Nokoro and Chief Konaro looked at each other and read each other's minds. They both started focusing their chi. Nokoro focused on all the moisture on and around Riko's body and Chief Konaro focused on all the water inside her body. First, Nokoro concentrated all the moisture into water, and then froze it into a thick coat of ice. Then, Chief Konaro started moving Riko into the air by waterbending the water inside her. Nokoro helped move Riko into the air by waterbending the ice around her. After Riko was twenty feet away from the ground, they moved her toward the wall, Nokoro melted a lot of ice from the wall and some of the ice from her body into water, joined them together, and froze the combined water back into ice.
She's stuck to a wall, in a thick coat of ice, twenty feet from the ground. She will either not do anything and be taken to prison quietly or she will melt herself out and commit suicide. She's trapped in a two-way defeat., Nokoro thought to himself as a triumphant smile appeared on his face. Chief Konaro quickly went to another room, told an official to bring a steel prison cage, and came back. They waited for the official to bring the prison cage so that the spy would finally be captured.
Meanwhile, in the outskirts of the Northern Water Tribe, at the training camp, General Manoko worried about why it was taking Nokoro so long to give Chief Konaro the scrolls. He told a high-ranking officer to take over his affairs and ran toward the chief's temple to find out what was going on.

The ice all around her was chilling Riko to the bone and it was times like this that she was glad to be a Firebender. Then again she was still stuck twenty feet off the ground which was going to be hard to get out of. Looking down at her captors she heard them say something along the lines of putting her in a cage.
“The barbarians, putting me in a cage of all things.” Murmured Riko
Turning her head from side to side she tried to form a plan, and then like a bolt of lightning.
“There’s only one way I’m getting out of this. Goodness, I sure get myself into a lot of these predicaments don’t I?”
As Riko murmured to herself she began to heat up her body temperature and wondered if anyone in the Fire Nation was looking out for her. She would need the help once she got out of this mess. Much to her surprise they weren’t paying much attention to the Fire Nation citizen melting herself out of the icy wall which was better in this case, wasn’t it?
Finally her whole upper body was free from the icy jacket. Steadying herself Riko heated up her hand enough to melt part of the ice wall close to her hand making a compact hand hold which she grasped with new found strength as adrenaline began to kick in. She did the same to part of the wall beside her other hand and grasped the makeshift hand hold as well. The bottom half of her body was nicely thawed out by now and her clothes weren’t damp anymore.
“Alright, time for something creative.” After saying so Riko took a breath and concentrated the heat to her back which thawed out the ice in the wall making a large gaping hole, she dared not look behind her for fear of falling backwards and instead tightened her grasp on the holds. Staring at her feet which stood on nothing at all as a bead of sweat began to work its way down her forehead. The hole she made took up about five feet of the twenty she was dangling in and with heart beating she began to heat her hands as hot as they would go.
“Agni help me.”
Her arms were spread at her sides as the ice began to melt rapidly. Closing her eyes was no option. Facing this fear was the only way she wouldn’t fall to her death now, controlling the fire was her only way now. Riko held her hands in that position with clenched teeth as the ice, with the help of fire lowered her body down rapidly. There was only seven feet left and once she got to five she propelled herself forward, smoothly landing on the ground, flames making a dancing ring of fire around her body.
Nokoro had seen her then as he turned around, obviously wondering why the temperature around the room had risen. Riko stood confidently and looked straight at him with cold eyes. She hoped that someone Fire Nation was coming to her aid at this moment because from what she read in books her Firebending would be no match for an equally mad Waterbender but pushed the thought aside as she continued to stare at him and said.
“That was some trick you and the Chief pulled. You just LOVE taking me out of my comfort zone, don’t you Nokoro?”

"I am in charge of the group going to save her, but no one else wants to join me. So I was wondering if you would come with me." He said. She nodded as he continued, rubbing her eyes and stretching while he talked. "Sure, I guess," she answered. "I mean, I haven't been doing much here, so...sure!"

Huime turned, and struggled to contain a scowl when she saw who had called her. It was the same man from the docks, still grinning and still obnoxious. She debated accepting his help or politely informing him that no, his help was not needed, and he would do well to get out of her sight before she found her father and his guard and had him run through for looking at her like that.
"Oh, hello," Huime nodded, "My name is Huime."
Better yet, Huime decided, let the fool lead her to the chamber where her father was so she could have this Fire Nation slimeball run through.
"Yes, I was looking for Great Hall. Do you know where it is? These halls all look the same, it's much too easy to get lost! They should hand out maps," she smiled at him, "It would be wonderful of you to lead me to the hall."

"Thank you Aoi, I'm glad I don't have to go alone." Maiku said. "I have to go meet with the general now, I'll be back later." He added.
Maiku ran to where the general was staying.
"Permission to enter sir?" Maiku asked.
"Granted." The general barked back.
Maiku entered the tent. "So you are the fool who joined this mission," the general said with a hint of disappointment in his voice. "Did you get anyone else to join you?"
"Yes sir I did," Maiku replied. "Aoi is her name."
"Very good choice, by the way, what is your name?" The general asked.
"Thank you sir, and my name is Maiku." He answered.
"Maiku huh. Well Master Poe wishes you luck on your dangerous mission." the general said.
"He is here?" Maiku inquired.
"No, I saw him a couple days ago." The general said.
Maiku was about to ask how Poe had known, but then thought to himself, "It's Master Poe." "What about that briefing sir?" Maiku asked.
"Ah yes," the general began, "As you already know, out latest report is that one of our spies Riko has been captured. We need a small group to rescue them. That group is you and Aoi. You are going to dress in Southern Water Tribe Peasant clothes and travel their on one of their boats, that we captured from them, to the Northern Water Tribe. You should be able to get in without attracting any major attention to yourselves. You will have one entire night to rescue her."
Then the general began to rant on about every excruciating detail of the mission. Then he came to a very important detail of the mission.
"Once you have rescued her, get clear as fast as you can, because at daybreak we begin the attack." The general said.
There was a long pause and then the general said, "Dismissed."
"Yes sir," Maiku said as he left. Once he got out side he saw that it was already dark outside.
"That took a long time," Maiku thought to himself as he headed to Aoi's tent.
When he got their he entered. "Aoi," he said, "We leave tomorrow after noon. We are dressing up as Southern Water Tribe peasants and taking a boat of theirs. I'll tell you the rest tomorrow I need to sleep."
"Goodnight" Maiku said. Then he went outside and fell asleep in that spot in the floor he had slept in earlier.
