Name:[/u]Eiji Daisuke Tottori ("Ji")
Age:[/u] 15
Gender:[/u] Male
Nation:[/u] Earth
Bender?:[/u] Yes!
Appearance:[/u]Eiji is a tall kid. He is one of the tallest in his family, going at a height of 5'9. The average height of a man in his family would be 6'2" to 6'3".
He has dark brown hair which is somewhat long, but still above his ears (Teo length?). His eyes are green even though his Grandmother is a water bender. He normally wears the colors Brown or green, but he also wears many other colors.
He is actually quite lithe, but that does not mean he isn't good at bending.
Personality:[/u]Eiji- A.K.A "Ji" to close friends- is a normally happy guy. He is respectful and friendly, for as he lives with his grandparents, he is obliged to be so. The only thing that will tick off this kid is if someone refers to his parents in a wrong way, such as "Gonna go run home to your mommy?" or other insults. If the insult only included him and no one else, he would give you a death stare and walk away, but in this case we would bend your sorry behind. He is normally quiet, but he has his moments. He loves to wrestle and bend, but he also loves to relax and write calligraphy. Sometimes on the anniversary of his parents' deaths and wedding, he will deliver all of the notes he wrote to them every night of the year and burn them on their grave. It is a tradition for him, for he believes that the ashes will join them and the words will be sent up into the sky for them to read.
History:[/u]
JI'S HISTORY:
When Ji was born, it was a very sad story. His mother got to hold him, but she died while she did it. the strain of having the beautiful boy was too much for her fragile body. His father felt bittersweet. He now had this wonderful child, but he lost his wife while doing it. The least he did for her was name Ji 'Eiji Daisuke', like his mother wished. he wanted a different name, but now the name was one of the strongest connections he had with her.
His father got a job at guarding the wall as well as his first job as being a sweeper in a tea shop so he could support his small family. It was difficult and stressful, but it kept his son healthy and that was the only thing that mattered to him.
Unfortunately, that second job of his cost him his life. While protecting the walls one day, his unit was struggling to keep up, no matter how hard they fought. His whole heart was in it, for behind those walls were his family and his only son. Finally, the odds seemed to begin to favor them. Enemy after enemy fell, and their confidence was building with each death. This was a fatal accident. Some men got so cocky they didn't watch their back. there weren't many of those who did that, but one of them happened to be the one gaurding Eiji's father's back. An enemy soldier found a breakthrough in the soldiers defense and came upon the two from behind. He jabbed the first in the stomach, making the man grunt from pain. Next he came to Eiji's father. His father pricked his ears at the sound of his guard's grunt, and whipped around in time to see himself face to face with a fire Nation soldier. The soldier grinned, and as fast as his target moved for a strike, he jabbed him right above the heart. But that wasn't enough for him, for he then jabbed him in the back of the neck- a killer move for sure. Ji's father was not coming home tonight.
Ji cried for his father every day, but he did not return. He begged his grandparents to take him to his father, but they simply said, "You live with us now, Ji. Now be a good boy and go take a nap." His grandfather taught Ji every day how to bend better to keep his mind off his parents. He would train from the moment Hachiro came home around six P.M. until the moment Eiji was called in to eat, wash his face, and go to bed. He continued training like that every day for years, sometimes training himself in his spare time. It became one of his most favorite hobbies beside calligraphy.
At the age of 8 he was forced to learn how to write formal and informal calligraphy at his school. He grew to learn what each symbol meant, and how he could write them. When he got home, his grandmother always made him practice for a half-hour and finish his chores and homework before Hachiro came home. It kept him a busy boy, but his grandmother always told him, "If you don't do something with that body of yours it'll rot away and you'll be left with nothing!" He couldn't argue with that. Besides, he enjoyed writing. Ever since his teacher told him about how people could talk to their deceased through calligraphy, he desired to write letters to his father as well. It made him feel closer to his parents, even though an unpassable void seperated them.
At the age of 10, Ji had finally accepted the fact that his father was never coming back. He did not find out why until his grandparents told him on his twelfth birthday. They showed him his father's grave, lying right beside his mothers. He promised his father that he would become the best bender that he had ever seen, just so he could make him proud. By that time he had excelled from being a beginner to a student, well on his way to being mediocre.
(is the whole, "he had excelled from being a beginner to a student, well on his way to being mediocre," thing fine? If not, I'll change it, but if so, thank you! it is an important part of his character.)
Mayumi Tottori's History:
Mayumi was born in the great Northern Water tribe. Her mother was a kind woman with dark blue eyes and hair nearly always tied back in half-tail. People always admired her mother for her spectacular healing abilities, and many expected the same from the daughter.
Mayumi was the youngest of three other siblings. Her Two older sisters were twins and were a good year-and-a-half older than her. Her brother, on the other hand, was four years older, his birthday only five days before hers.
Her sisters always hung out and played with each other, being twins and all. They never invited her to play. She always ended up practicing her healing or helping her brother.
Her brother's name was Masuyo, meaning "increase the world". Masuyo tried to do this, indeed. One of his fondest hobbies was inventing things. He often had Mayumi help him with this when she needed something to do. "Inventing is good for a man, for it causes him to explore the unknown," is something he often told her when she asked him why he loved it. She grew to enjoy helping him make things.
At the age of fifteen, Mayumi's parents took the family out to welcome the Earth King's messengers and a few of his warriors. They had come to ask the water tribe for help against the Fire Nation. The agreement was that the tribes would come to the other's aid when needed. While standing in the front of the huge crowd waving to the arrivals, a certain warrior by the name of Hachiro caught her eye. They held their stare for a moment before Hachiro was told to move along. It was the start of a lasting relationship.
A storm hit the waters of the north pole, making the passages impassable. Once the announcement was made that the soldiers would stay until the weather passed, Mayumi took many walks by the palace so as to "bump into" Hachiro. They grew to learn more about each other through their meetings, and though they were from different tribes, they grew to love each other.
On the eighth day of their meetings, another announcement was made that the weather had cleared up. the soldiers would be heading home at sunset. Hachiro requested a prescence with the king. He told the king about his love for Mayumi, and asked if he could return in three months, on her birthday. The king agreed.
In three month's time, they were married and lived happily in the town of Ba Sing Se.
