Name:[/u]Masaru Katashi
Age:[/u] 17
Gender:[/u] Male
Nation:[/u] Earth Kingdom
Bender?:[/u] Yes
Appearance:[/u] Masaru has very dark brown hair. He keeps it at a medium length and leaves it unkept. His eyes are emerald in colour. His skin is slightly tan, but not too dark. He keeps his body in athletic shape and he is of an average size. Not too tall, and not too short. He has a few minor burn marks along his right arm and hand.
Personality:[/u] Masaru is somewhat optomistic. He accepts minor problems as fate and is fine with a few setbacks... however, he is very much against things such as the Fire Nations' seiges of Earth Kingdom land and territories. He hopes to one day be a master earthbender and to help defeat the Fire Nation. He also has an interest in plants, herbs, and tea. He likes to experiment with different tea leaves and berries to make tea. And, of course, he likes to train his earthbending.
History:[/u] Masaru was born to Takezo and Quyen Katashi in the city of Ba Sing Se. His father was a merchant in the town, and his mother owned a tea shop. When Masaru was almost fifteen, his father, an earthbender, could no longer stay out of the war after hearing word that the Fire Nation had been kidnapping Earth Benders from small Earth Kingdom villages. He left his family to go join the Eath Kingdom's army. Masaru was heart-broken and wanted to go with his father, but his father told him that he needed to take care of his mother. More recently, he had tried to get his family out of Ba Sing Se so they could escape the Fire Nation's heavy guard, and leave to Kyoshi Island. Things went well until he tried to get past the guards at the gate that seperated the city from the lands that surrounded it.
He tried to tell the guard that he needed to take a supply of tea to another colony taken by the Fire Nation. Unfortunately, he didn't have the papers he needed to leave Ba Sing Se. He attacked the guard and was soon met by many other guards. He suffered the minor burn marks along his right arm during the fight. He was able to knock out enough of the guards long enough to get him and his mother out of Ba Sing Se and to steal a small boat to Kyoshi. He and his mother rowed miles to Kyoshi Island, and were greeted by a small group of the islanders. His mother and him found a small shack to live in until the war was over, but Masaru wanted to help the other Earth Kingdom members. He soon told his mother that he was leaving Kyoshi to go back to the mainland to find anyone who was willing to help him go against the Fire Nation.
He rowed the same boat he had came in back to the mainland and traveled to Gaipan to live with the villagers and search for a group of rebels after hearing that the forests that were past the reservoir once held a group of "Freedom Fighters." He still lives in Gaipan.
