Name:[/u] Kaji Shinrai
Age:[/u] 16, soon 17
Gender:[/u] female
Nation:[/u] fire
Bender?:[/u] yes, her fire bending is about average, but slightly below for skipping classes
Appearance:[/u] Kaji has short, uneven, dark brown, almost black, hair that she keeps in a low, messy bun. She has the typical golden eyes. Her nose is petite and points slightly upward. She prefers not to wear make up, so the only color on her face is her lightly tanned skin, her eyes, and her soft pink lips. Kaji's lips are usually in a smile unless she is saddened or concentrating on something important. Her jaws are well set, and any roundness of her younger child days have smoothed out and disappeared. Her ears have a few peircings in them, three on her left and two on her right. She has a curvy, well carved figure. Kaji's legs make up most of her body height, a little more than half, and is around 5'8". Her skinny hands are usually dirty from cleaning out komodo rhino stalls, and her finger nails are short from her habit of biting them. Kaji doesn't like to put her hair down, and only does so when her mom tells her to. When she does put it down, her hair, well, the longest portion of it, goes down to her mid back, having many split ends. She likes to steal her older brother's clothes instead of wearing her clothes, which consisted of skirts, dresses, and tight shirts. So, most of the time, Kaji wore a pair of baggy red pants or black shorts, which were too big for her and she tied them to her waist with a peice of rope, and a baggy red and black T-shirt. She weighs around 125 pounds and has a stork's peck birthmark on her forehead. Her shoulders are pretty narrow and her arms are long compared to the rest of her body. She takes on the image of looking skinny, weak, and spindly person, but is stronger than she looks.
Personality:[/u] Kaji is active, but due to some unknown breathing problems, she can't last long in sports. But, with her optimistic attitude, she tries to think of the positive things and builds on them. Kaji wants to live life to the fullest and does her best to forget about the war, in which she says is 'Too bloody and depressing'. Only on those rare occasions that she gets depressed, for example she saw a dead bird, her smile turns into a frown. Though the sad situation, she finds a positive side of things, like she burys it and knows that it has got to the spirit forest and will live there for the rest of eternity happily, and smiles again. Kaji is out going and ready to help anyone in need. Most of the time, Kaji isn't angry, but, if you pester her about her family, like most fire benders, she might blow up in your face.
Kaji does not dislike many things. The only things she hates are dresses, make up, and bratty, stuck up people. She also dislikes it when people make fun of her.
History:[/u] Kaji was born to your stereotypical fire nation family. Her mother grows friut in the back of their house and her father works in a blacksmith, making armor and wepons for the war to use. Her father uses his fire bending techniques to weld the metal. Kaji's older brother, Hoshiro, helps out their dad with the blacksmithing, also using his fire bending. Kaji learned her firebending from her brother, and later found the money to go to school. They all live in an average sized home with two bedrooms, one of them Kaji shares with Hoshiro, and the other is their parents' room, a kitchen, one bathroom, and a living area. There is a garden in the back where their mother grows fruit. The family likes to eat together and talk about what happened that day, resulting in a happy, well brought family life. The village Kaji lives in is near a port where exports come in from other nations selling interresting trinkets, or so Kaji says.
Kaji doesn't have many friends, and her only ones are guys, because the girls of her village think she is weird. Kaji likes to lay back every now and then, but not often. Most of the time, she's seen running around the village, which tended to bother her mother, who usually needed help around the house or in the garden. Her two best friends are Onbin and Kyouki. Onbin lives in the wealthier part of town in a large house. His parents own the komodo rhino stalls that Kaji works at. Kyouki lives next door to Kaji, and he helps her out with her fire bending. Secretly, when Kaji was younger, she had a small crush on Kyouki, but grew out of it. Kaji likes to race Onbin in the forest behind his house, while Kyouki usually just watches in a tree. Kaji also enjoys drawing, and, despite the fact that she's a fire bender, she likes to watch the waves crash on a special rocky ledge that she spends most of her time at. Kaji loves to watch when her brother fire bends. She thinks he's the best at it and her main goal is to finally beat him at a duel. Hoshiro also knows how to weild swords, so he taught Kaji that in her free time and helped her make her own sword.
Often times, the fire navy comes in and takes the taxes. Kaji hates the way they talk to the other villagers, but can't do anything about it because they might kill her. She tries anyway. Kyouki usually has to hold her back, and Onbin takes them away so that Kaji's yelling wouldn't make them look over in their direction.
