Hey everyone, I'm new here. Decided I'd do my first post with some fanficition I've been working on
After watching both seasons of Avatar, I had a funny idea when I was thinking of a possible Season 3 plot. It then hit me, it could (hopefully not) be like The Matrix: Revolutions. So I decided "why not do an Avatar spoof with the Revolutions' plot for Season 3?"
Not sure if I'll completely finish it, but I'll try my best! Give your comments and criticisms. If it seems like an almost direct copy of the Revolution's script ... Well, it pretty much is! ;D
Introduction
Beneath Ba Sing Se, A frightening encounter has occurred between good and evil. Everyone there watches as Aang’s body hits the ground. Even in his Avatar state, Azula uses her lightbending to throw the Avatar to the ground, unconscious.
Zuko and Azula head up to the castle. From there, Zuko says goodbye to his sister and heads to the Fire Nation, where he expects to be honored as a war hero …
Katara, with Aang’s body in her arms, goes to find Sokka, Toph, The Earth King, Bosco, Appa, and Momo. They all jump upon the flying bison’s back and he starts flying. They fear of leaving the city however, as Earthbenders are probably waiting along the walls to shoot them down. They decide its best to find a hidden place in the city to hide.
During their flight, Katara sees that Aang awakes! From there however, he closes his eyes once again. They quickly land, not wishing for anyone else to find them, and find a very large abandoned mansion in the city to hide in. A day later, they’re worried that Aang hasn’t awoken. They hope that they can heal the fallen Avatar ...
The Avatar: Revolutions, Part 1
In the abandoned building’s dinning room, The Earth King, Toph, Sokka, and Bosco sit around a table.
The Earth King: I got nothing guys. There’s no sign of anyone that can help us!
Toph: Shouldn’t we continue to look for someone in Ba Sing Se who could help!?
Sokka: It doesn’t matter. My instincts say he isn’t going to make it.
Toph: We could at least find someone to cure Aang outside of the city!
Sokka: No, it’s too dangerous to look right now. Appa can still fly, but we’ll need him for later.
Sokka looks over in the other room, seeing that the beast is tired.
Toph: I was afraid you were gonna say that.
Everyone in the room hears a suspicious sound.
Sokka: Search every step, every hole, every crack we know. Sweep as wide as possible, as fast as possible around here!
Toph leaves the room and starts to look around the place for any intruders.
The Earth King: Sokka, this area could be crawling with Dai Li.
Sokka: The sooner Katara can cure him, the better.
In the bedroom, Katara sits by the Avatar’s bed, trying to cure him with her water bending. Momo comes into the room with some food for her.
Katara, crying: Thank you Momo.
The lemur is also sad, and he looks up at Katara.
Katara: No change.
Sokka comes into the room.
Sokka: Katara, Toph is searching through this place.
Katara: For what?
Sokka: For any Dai Li.
Katara uses her water bending once more. It does nothing. She then begins hitting the floor out of agitation.
Katara: This is what keeps bothering me.
Sokka and Momo both looked confused toward her.
Katara: His breathing doesn’t read like someone who’s in a coma.
Sokka: Katara, I ...
Katara says nothing. Sokka leaves the room, feeling that he isn’t of much help.
Sokka comes back into the dinning room, seeing that Toph is back from searching the building.
The Earth King: No one’s in here.
Toph: I’ve looked everywhere.
Sokka: Are you sure?
Toph: Based on the vibrations I feel, however, I could feel some earthbending. The Dai Li musn’t be that far from our location.
The Earth King: E'gads!
Sokka: All right, let’s get out of here. Earth King, stay behind us! Toph, I need you to distract them with some earthbending. We need to warn Katara!
Toph feels the ground, and gets a sense of shock. A large figure is seen coming into the room.
Sokka: Someone’s coming ... It’s that Fire Bender!
Iroh tells them to be quiet. He tip toes in quietly.
Iroh: Sokka, Katara, I bring news from an oracle who can help, but you two must come with me at once!
Sokka: Wait a minute, we never told you our--- Why should we even follo--- Ah forget it! Toph, watch over the Earth King and the animals while we’re gone!
Toph looks over at the Earth King, who is smiling, Bosco, and Momo with displeasure. She let’s out a heavy sigh.
A blank white place is seen, but floating in the area is a sign that reads "Purgatory." Aang is laying there and wakes up. He looks around, confused as to where he is. Guru Pathik is sitting there, pretzel legged.
Pathik: Good morning.
Aang: What are you doing here?
Pathik: Aang, you’re not supposed to be here. You must be lost. Are you lost, Avatar?
Aang: Uh, you still didn’t answer my quest---
Pathink, yelling: IT DOES NOT MATTER WHY I’M HERE, NO MORE QUESTIONS!
Aang: Well, then can you at least tell me where I am.
Pathik sighs deeply. He points to the sign above him which reads "Purgatory."
Aang: Oh, this isn’t the spirit world?
Pathik: There is a way out, but you cannot go where I am going.
Aang: Why not?
Pathik: He won’t let you.
Aang: Who won’t let me?
Pathik: An ancient spirit known as the Spiritman. I don’t like him, but I have to do what he says or he’ll leave me here for ever and ever.
Back in the real world, Sokka, Katara, and Iroh ride on Appa’s back to the Earth Kingdom village near the active volcano Mt. Wakapu, a place where Aang and his group had been in the past. They head up towards the Oracle’s home.
Aunt Wu: Sokka, Katara, Iroh. Thank you all for coming. One thing I’ve learned in all my years is that nothing ever works out just the way you want it to.
Sokka, looking at Iroh: Wait a minute, this oracle!? We’ve been here before, she doesn’t know any---
Aunt Wu, angry: SILENCE! YOU WILL LISTEN TO AUNT WU’S WORDS!
Sokka runs to the corner, curling himself up in fear.
Aunt Wu: I wish there was an easier way to get through this, but there ain’t. I’m sorry this had to happen. I’m sorry I couldn’t be sitting here like you remember me. But it wasn’t meant to be …
Katara, Sokka, and Iroh look at Aunt Wu, confused.
Aunt Wu: Alright then, let’s get to the chase. I’m here to tell you that I know how you can bring Aang out of his coma.
Katara: Are you really sure that’s what happened to Aang!?
The “Oracle” looks at her Book of Slightly True Predictions
Aunt Wu: Yes, of course he is ...
Sokka: Can I see that book ...
Aunt Wu closes her book before Sokka can look in it.
Aunt Wu: He’s trapped in a purgatory between life and death. The link is controlled by a Spiritman. He uses this world to see if one is worthy of life or death. If he finds the Avatar before you get to him, then I’m afraid he could end up dead.
Sokka and Katara look down at the floor in sadness.
Aunt Wu: However, there is someone who can help you.
Katara: Who?
Sokka: Azula! She’s the one who killed Aang!
Aunt Wu: She has placed a bounty on your lives. You must be careful at all times. This handsome gentleman Iroh knows how to find Azula, he will go with you.
Sokka: But Wu …
Aunt Wu: I know, Sokka. I can see you’re filled with doubt, clouded by uncertainty.
Sokka: Not really uncertainty, more like fact, we know where she is. “Ba Sing Se”, yeah, we were just there.
Aunt Wu: Oh … Well too bad, he’s going with you in order to fulfill the prophecy anyways!
Sokka and Katara look at Iroh agigtated, with small grey puff clouds coming out of their heads.
Back in the purgatory world …
Pathik: Are you from the spirit world?
Aang: Ummm, Master Guru, are you ok?
Pathik: Why did you leave?
Aang: Have you been drinking too much banana onion juice again?
Pathik: I had to leave my home too.
Aang puts his head down to the ground in disbelief.
Aang: So, any idea of when this “Spiritman” comes?
Pathik: It’s already late. It’s not like the Spiritman to be late.
Aang: You think it has something to do with me?
Pathik: I cannot say. Who knows such things? Only the Avatar …
The Avatar looks at Pathik with an angry face.
Pathik: Oh right, you are him.
From the distance, a large train (like one that could be seen in Ba Sing Se) arrives. Out from it comes a large, terrifying black demon-like creature.
Spiritman: Hurry it up, I’m late!
Aang: Late for what?
Spiritman: I don’t know … For stuff …
Pathik gets on the train. As the Airbender walks towards the train as well, the Spiritman stops him.
Spiritman: Who are you?
Pathik: He’s a friend.
Aang, happily: I’m also the Avatar!
Spiritman: So?
Aang, seriously: Listen, one way or another, I’m getting on this train.
Spiritman: Oh, no, no, no. You're gonna stay right here because I don’t like you’re bald head and you’re weird … arrow tattoo … thingy.
Aang, angry: I don’t want to hurt you.
Aang tries to use some of his airbending to hurt the beast. However, his powers do not work, and the Spiritman punches him against the ground.
Spiritman: You don’t get it. I am the guardian of this realm. This is my place, and I make the rules for it. I am more powerful here then any little Avatar …
The Spiritman closes the doors to the train. It heads off into the distance without Aang.
Sokka, Katara, and Iroh walk towards the Ba Sing Se Castle confidently. Sokka tries putting on some shades and a big black leather coat. The coat gets tangled and he falls over.
Katara, sarcastically: Yeah, real smooth Sokka. Real smooth …
The three walk up to the gates of the city, and there two Dai Li guards stop them from entering the Castle.
Guard 1: Halt, no one shall pa--- You’ve got to be kidding …
Guard 2: It’s the Dragon of the West!
Guard 1: I get it. You must be ready to die.
Iroh: I must speak with Azula.
Guard 1: The only way you’re getting through this door are through us!
Iroh: If that’s how you feel …
Iroh kicks the spear from one of the guard’s hands, and then produces a fist of flame, hitting the same guard to the ground. Katara waterbends out some water from a small pouch and whips it around the other guard. She then starts to twirl him a bit into the wall.
Sokka, dejected: Yep, once again, no one lets Sokka do any of the work ...
From there, Iroh and Sokka open up the Gates. They start walking through a long hallway.
Iroh: Straight across this hallway lies the throne room. Luckily, there should be no problems.
Katara: And if we’re unlucky?
Iroh: There will be many men …
Before he can finish, they notice a number of elite Earthbenders staring at them from all sides.
Iroh, smiling: I guess we were unlucky.
Iroh proceeds to get into a defense stance and punches out some fireballs from his hands at three Earthbenders. They proceed to create steeping blocks along the walls with their bending. It almost looked like they were running along the walls.
Sokka: Oh great, we’re so dead!
Sokka equips his boomerang and throws it around the room. One Earthbender creates a wall to block the incoming weapon. Katara unleashes her water once again and whips at two others. She then sees a rock fist fly at her, and she ducks just in time.
She notices the stepping stones created by the Earthbenders. As another bender throws another punch, she continues to run along the walls. Slow motion occurs, and the stone fist just misses her face. From there, she throws around the water as if they were darts at the Earth guards.
Iroh sees that four Earthbenders are surrounding him. He throws his leg around in a 360 motion, fire trailing with his leg. Three fall over, badly hurt, and the fourth steps out of the way. From there, Katara uses a fountain’s water as a wave to throw the Earthbender to the ground.
Iroh looks behind and sees there are more benders. He throws fireballs once more, but the Earthbenders continue running along the walls. One of them flips from the ceiling upside down. Sokka stands there, waiting for the slow motion to end. Once the guard reaches the floor, Sokka then kicks the bender against the wall.
The three continue to fight a few more Earthbenders until they all stop moving. They then move on to the throne room, where they see a large banquet commencing. The three stand with their backs to each other and start circling their way slowly to Azula, all the party members throwing their hands in the air. The group then moves up face to face with Azula, Mai, and Ty Lee.
Azula: What are you all doing here? I don’t believe this. Stop the music!
The musicians stop playing their music, and many of the dancers who didn’t notice Katara, Sokka, and Iroh come in stop their dancing.
Azula: The once great General of the Fire Nation, the Dragon of the West. Are you here to get revenge, uncle?
She starts to laugh.
Azula: Tell me, how outnumbered do you think you are? I don’t know, but I think quite a bit.
Iroh: We only want to talk.
Azula: Oh yes, I’m sure you do, you have fought through many to do so, yes? I’ll tell you what I’ll do. Sit down and don’t even think about fighting, and I will promise you safe passage out of here.
Iroh: All three of us.
Azula, grinning: Oh yes, of course.
The three put down their guard and are escorted by four Dai Li to sit near where Azula, Mai, and Ty Lee sit.
Azula: What a great surprise, isn’t it? Who could’ve guessed we’d all be seeing each other so soon after our last encounter? Fate can be truly funny. I hope that “oracle” is doing well. I also hope that she has the good manners to learn her lesson, and to remember that there is no ac---
Azula then notices a very bored Katara, Sokka, and Iroh
Mai, bored: You’re putting them to sleep ...
Azula gives Mai a dirty look.
Iroh: You know why we are here.
Azula: Come now. What kind of question is this? Of course I know. It’s my business as the new Queen of Ba Sing Se to know. Some might think this is a strange coincidence, but not me. I’m curious though, as to how it actually happened. Do you know?
Katara: Um, you struck Aang with lightning when he was in his Avatar state ...
Azula, annoyed: Yes, well, I was getting to that …
Sokka: Listen Azula, we want to make a deal.
Azula: Straight to the point, huh Sokka? Well, I can help you, but you must have something I want from you, yes? It so happens that there is something I want. Something I’ve wanted ever since I became queen here.
Iroh: But you’ve only been queen for like, today …
Azula: Yes, well, I’m greedy ...
Sokka: What do you want Azula?
Azula: The Avatar’s bending powers! I tell you now, there is no escaping the nature of this world, this universe, full of Water, Earth, Fire, and Air, and …
Mai, bored: You’re doing it, again.
Katara, angry: I don’t have time to put up with this.
Katara brings out the water from in here pouch and whips it around here. Mai starts to throw her daggers at Katara, from which they either miss or are hit out of the way with the use of waterbending. Ty Lee goes after Sokka, who she affectionately admires as he tries to hit her with his boomerang, all of the blows missing. Iroh starts to breathe fire from his mouth at the four Dai Li near him. Azula gets up, wishing to fight.
Just then, Katara puts the whip-shaped water against Azula’s forehead. Sokka puts his boomerang up against Ty Lee’s neck, while she has her hands near his pressure points. Iroh has his leg half way up in the air while the four Dai Li have their rock fists up near Iroh’s head. Everyone is frozen stiff.
Katara: You want to make a deal, how about this? You tell me how we can save Aang, or we all die right here, right now.
Azula: Interesting deal. You are really ready to die for him, aren’t you?
Katara moves her water whip ever so closely to Azula’s neck. The water is right against the center.
Katara: Believe it.
Ty Lee: She’ll do it too Azula, she’s in love …
Ty Lee then begins to flirt with Sokka. He begins to blush, but keeps the boomerang still up against her neck.
Azula: It’s remarkable how love can lead to insanity.
Katara: Time’s up. What’s it gonna be, Azula?
Azula: I mean, I probably wouldn’t help anyways, but I seriously don’t know how to bring him back to life.
When Katara, Sokka, and Iroh realize that it’s true, they start to sigh heavily.
Sokka: Well then, we should probably get going now ...
Iroh: This is exactly something that Zuko would do ...
Azula gives an evil grin, and just then at least twenty more Dai Li walk up to the three.
Back in purgatory, Aang is pacing about.
Aang: Ok, you got yourself into this. Well, more like Azula got me into this, but never the less, I can get myself out of here.
He then tries using his airbending in order to fly. He also tries his waterbending and earthbending just in case, but they don't work either. He proceeds to start running in the direction the train left. Once he realizes that it keeps going on and on, he stops to catch his breath.
Aang, sadly: I’m gonna be stuck here forever ...
Just then, the spirit train comes into view. It stops right by Aang.
Aang: Alright! I bet Katara got control of the train and has come to rescue me!
Aang then begins to blush as he thinks about the beautiful Waterbender. All the daydreaming stops once he sees that it’s the Spiritman once again.
Aang, annoyed: Oh, its you …
Spiritman: Um Aang, I wanted to say I’m sorry. I changed my mind and realized that your bald head and your tattoos aren’t all that weird. You can get on the train and live for another day …
Aang, happy: Yipee!
Aang runs onto the train.
Spiritman: Now remember to keep your arms and legs safely inside the vehicle at all times.
Aang: Ok, I will. By the way, what ever happened to Guru Pathik?
Spiritman: Ummmm ... Ok, next stop: Death!
Aang: HOORAY! Hey, wait a minute ...
Spiritman: Haha, just kidding.
The doors closed, and the train went off into the distance.
Aang then wakes up, and finds himself inside a large abandoned building. He sees that Toph, the Earth King, Bosco, and Momo are all looking over him. They all have happy faces.
The Earth King, happy: He’s awake!
Toph, happy: You’re back.
Aang: Hey, wheres Katara and Sokka?
He then hears mumbling in another room. He heads into the kitchen, expecting to find the two from the Southern Water Tribe. He is surprised, however, to find Meng and Aunt Wu making cookies.
Aunt Wu: That’s it. That’s the secret. You’ve got to use your hands.
Meng: Why?
Aunt Wu: Cookies need love like everything else.
The Avatar notices that Aunt Wu’s hands are really dirty. As he proceeds to almost barf, Aunt Wu and Meng moves their attention to him.
Meng, hugging Aang: Aang!
Aunt Wu: I was hoping to have these done before you got here. Oh well, Meng, sweetie, I think it’s time for tasting. Take the bowl to Toph and find out if they’re ready.
Toph, screaming from the other room: I’m allergic to chocolate!
Meng, smiling: I’m glad you got out of your coma.
Aang, uneasy: Uh yeah, me too …
Meng runs into the other room, forcing a cookie into Toph’s mouth.
Aang: Um, Aunt Wu, why are you two even here in Ba Sing Se, and why are you making cookies?
Toph, with cookies stuffed in her mouth: Freeloaders!
Aunt Wu: Well, I just felt like it ...
Aang had a strong premonition that alzheimers had hit her hard.
Aunt Wu: So, do you recognize me?
Aang: I did just say your name ...
Aunt Wu: Yeah, that’s how it works ...
Aang: That I know your name?
Aunt Wu: Something like that, I suppose. Remember when you first walked through my door?
Aang then goes back to think about his little side adventure that he had with Katara, Sokka, Appa, and Momo in the village. He remembers how awful she was at predicting the eruption of the volcano, and how he had to go through so much more work to get shaping the clouds. Aang also remembered how she told him that he’d fall in love with Katara, and how the waterbender still doesn’t return the love he feels for her, which has tortured his soul night and day.
Aang, irritated: Yeah, I think I remember …
Aunt Wu: Just look at you now. You’re the same height, same weight … Actually, you look pretty much the same!
Aang, anger rising: What’s your point again!?
Aunt Wu: I told you before. No one can see beyond a choice they don’t understand.
Aang, confused: I don’t understand ...
Aunt Wu: Very good, you learn fast!
Aang: But ...
Aunt Wu: Listen to me, your time as the true Avatar begins soon. You must confront Fire Lord Ozai and destroy him!
Aang: Why didn’t you tell me you knew about the Fire Nation? Why didn’t you tell me about Ba Sing Se? Why didn’t you tell me any of this!?
Aunt Wu: Probably because I didn’t know.
It then hits Aang: she's just a senile old woman who is pathetic at making fortunes. He still worked hard to think these things through, but nothing good came from it. He tried to say something, but Wu’s last statement had left the Last Airbender speecless.
Aunt Wu: It doesn’t matter Aang, its still is not your time to know about the Fire Kingdom, or what is needed to learn firebending.
Aang: Who decided it wasn’t time?
The Fortuneteller pointed up at a sign hanging on the wall. It had a cute kitty on it, and it read out “Kitties are cute.” Aang then proceeded to tiptoe away from the crazy old lady and started to talk to Meng.
Aang, whispering: Do you think you could take her back home, I think she’s gone a little wacko.
Meng then went over to her aunt and started to push her out of the kitchen.
Aunt Wu: The power of the Avatar extends beyond this world ... My purpose is to unbalance the balance of the world ... Everything has a beginning and an end ...
Meng: Don’t worry Aunt Wu, once we get home and you take your medicine, everything is going to be fine.
She then looked over to Aang and waved goodbye.
Aang: Thanks Meng.
As the two were gone, Aang put his head down in disbelief.
Aang: No one told me being the Avatar would lead to me having to listen to so many crazy people ...
He then remembered that he had been looking for Katara and Soka.
Aang: Hey Toph, do you know where Katara and Soka are?
Toph: Well, they came with that crazy old lady and her daughter. Afterwards, they said they were off to fight Azula or something …
Aang, annoyed: What are they doing!? I gotta rescue them!
