Jin was a really neat character. One of my favorite oneshots. But if she'll be coming back that'll be cool.
She really brought out the nice side in Zuko which was sweet.

I don't hate her because of shipping. I don't hate her period. I dislike. Fine line, my dear. Sorry Para I wasn't talking about you or anyone on this site, I do not think. I'm not mad. However, and I do hate to go into shipping on the characters board, I should like to think that other girls in the show could complement Zuko just as well, and in some cases, even better. Aside from that, I mostly agree with your post.

I have to wonder, if Jin does somehow return, what would be her purpose besides hanging around Zuko? Some have suggested she's working for the Dai Lee (which I think is ridiculous) but I fail to see any other reasonable substance that could be added to her that other characters do not all ready possess. Still, I could always be surprised

Why would it be ridiculous? She doesn't have be a looney Joo Dee or whatever. She could of just been a secretary for the Dai Li. (Tch, like they have those and typewriters.)
Of course, she could of just been a regular citizen.

Do we really *need* another reason for bringing Jin back other than to hang out with Zuko? lol

Of course, she could of just been a regular citizen. I think it's ridiculous mostly because I saw NO evidence supporting it. She seemed genuinely interested in him and looked deeply hurt and confused when he ran away. Sure, she might be a good actress, but I think it would cheapen her date with Zuko and, as I've stated earlier, Zuko doesn't need anything more to angst about

Well, I knew the 405867 time I saw Tales of Ba Sing Se, I noticed that she did this a lot: She also had that look right after she said "Great! I'll meet you outside the shop at sundown", or something like that. That look on her face reminds me of two things: 1)It's a trap! 2)She's just being flirty/playful or something like that. I'm guessing it's the 2nd one, but it is pretty interesting IMO. Zuko's date with Jin would seem cheap if she was part of the Dai Li, though. Plus, he'll start getting paranoid. "All the girls I hang around with want to kill me!". Poor Zuzu, he's just not that great with girls like Sokka is. But then again, Sokka has the kiss of death...

More likely she's just a plain ol' resident of BSS that thought Zuko was cute... just like the oodles of Zuko fangirls out there like me.... She did sweep her hair back a lot. I think she was just trying to look pretty for Zuko. Why would a Dai Li agent be after Zuko anyway? Wouldn't Aang be the one they'd be trying to murder?

Oh I know, I was just playing around since she did do that a lot in the episode. I don't think she's a Dai Li agent at all, and I wouldn't like the idea of it because like I've said before and somebody else did, it would cheapen her date with Zuko. You may never know, since Long Feng had info on mostly every person in Ba Sing Se, he could have something on Zuko and Iroh. They can't murder the Avatar, people in Ba Sing Se know he's there (well, I guess the ones in the Upper Ring), so that would look really bad and suspicious on the Dai Li's part if they did try to assasinate Aang.

I think it's a kinda 'I'm totally gonna kiss you and you don't even know it' look... If Jin does return to give Zuko a little bit of character development she'd have to accept his past and convince him that that's not who he is anymore...if she were to reject him like Lee and the others in Zuko Alone it'd be dang hard for him to come out of the shadows...

And I don't.
I just don't see where Maiko comes from. Yes, she was shown to have a crush on him...and there has to be some reason for establishing it...but she doesn't appear to have any redeeming qualities whatsoever. And that smile she gave the camera at the thought of seeing Zuko again in Return to Omashu didn't look at all affectionate or loving...if anything it looked cruel and manipulative. She's gloomy and unemotional, perfect for a bad guy sidekick, but not the traits for a romantic interest for a main character.
I guess it depends on how they develop the character in the next season, but Jin had far more romantic interest elements going for her in her brief appearance than Mai has in all her screen time...very little of which has been spent with Zuko I'll admit, but still, I'm yet to see a compelling argument to convince me of the validity of a Zuko/Mai romance.
Zujin still remains the closest this non-shipper has ever come to shipping.

Well....we really haven't seen much of Mai overall in the show really. I mean, we see her but we don't know much about her. In my mind, I see Zuko in the palace and Mai finds him. I imagine them talking about the past and when they were kids. In the end, I imagine Mai making Zuko realize who he is.
