azul , catarata and ursa are portuguese words ... O.o ... No, no, no! Ursa is Latin for bear. Cataratas is Spanish AND Portuguese for waterfalls. Azul is Spanish AND Portuguese for blue. This is correct. ;D

I don't know of there is already an explanation for the word "Avatar" but it reminded me of something in my hindoeïstic lessons. I'll try to explain it in English.
You have many gods in the Hindoeïsme, but three of them are the most important:
Generator: Brama Operator: Vishnoe Destroyer: Shiva
So the Vishnoe god comes to earth when the world is in crisis, every time in another "Avatara" (animalform or humanform) what means reïncarnation.
He has showed himself in these forms: - A fish who saved the first human - A turtle which helped with making a drink so you'll never die - A wild boar which saved the world out of the water - A lion who killed a trian - A giant who distroyed the Kshatriya's - A boy playing on a flute who had beaten the bad king - Buddha who saw the light - Someone who has yet to come on earth, to show us a new time. He'll come on a white horse.
This white horse reminds me a little bit of Appa^^ Ok, I don't know if this was important, but whatever.

Hahaha, yes you are ;D
Hindoes has also a thing that they call Brahman: that's the pure sorce of life. Everything is created out of this source, so Hindoes believe that every human has something of "pure life".
So perhaps you are ánd a god, ánd you're pure:D

You all know I am heavily involved in martial arts, Isshinryu Karate to be exact..
Kyoshi - Is a title given to a 9th or 10th Dan (Degree) Black Belt. It means they are a 'master of masters' or in other words, the teacher of teachers, sensei's and masters.
Roku - simply means six or sixth. If you are a 6th Dan Black belt, you are said to be at 'Roku Dan' and out of respect, a person of this level's title would be Shihan. Where or why this has any meaning to Avatar Roku- I have not a clue. He could not possibly be the 6th Fire Avatar if Aang goes through the elements in order and has had 1000+ lives already.
Meng - 'The Meng' is Chinese Astrology. Which makes perfect sense for her name to be Meng and she is Aunt Wu's assistant.

In "The Desert", Zuko's name was listed on a Fire Nation wanted poster in Chinese as 祖寇(Zu Kou). The first character means "ancestral tomb" or "ancestors"; the second character means "to rob, pillage" or "robber".
Source: Wikipedia
This makes sense on many levels, because of Zukos pride and honor being FN royality on the one hand and Zukos mission to capture the Avatar and his alter ego the Blue Spirit on the other hand. Hope I could help^^

Hope I could help^^ Are you sure? In Tales of Ba Sing Se, there would be a begining slide of each tale that says "The Tale of..." On the other side it has their names in Chinese. Like on Zuko's it says "Shu Ke De Gu Si" Meaning Zuko's story. It's funny how Zuko should be pronounced Shu-Ke. (Shu, being just a last name like Smith, with no particular meaning, and Ke, meaning study) And if you don't believe me look at these screenshot from avatarspirt.com It has this for the other characters too when it is their tale. Toph is pronounced Tuo Fu. (Tuo like one syllable not TOO-O, u nice and short) Katara like Ka Ta La (Long "A"s on all) Iroh like I Luo (Luo like one syllable not LOO-O, again, make the u short) Aang like An Ang (AN with a long "a" ANG with long "a" and like one syllable) Sokka like Suo Ka (say Suo as one syllable not like SOO-o, make the U short) Momo like Muo Muo (say Muo it like it is one syllable not MOO-o MOO-o)

I knew that Vishnu was going to return, but I didn't know in a white horse! Thanks! Karma!
