Yeah, I know. Its totally weird. The second to last sense in Sozin's Comet Part 4: Avatar Aang is when Zuko- Firelord Zuko, that is- goes to the palace prison to "talk" to Ozai. Ozai says "I suppose I should count myself lucky- the new Firelord has graced me with his persence", Zuko says "You should count yourself lucky that the Avatar spared your life". Ozai retores "Why have you come here?", Zuko says "Because you are going to tell me something..... Where is my mother?-". But then it cuts off, so we never know what did happen to her.

She's alive. The question is where.
During the eclipse, Ozai tells Zuko she did "treasonous things", so basically she killed Azulon. He also said she was banished, and that he now realizes banishment is too soft a punishment. That's when he tried to kill Zuko.
I say she's either dead (from starvation or exhaustion) or wandering the Earth Kingdom aimlessly.

Hopefully,I think she alive in the Fire Nation colonies in the Earth Kingdom. Ozai would know anything about her if he wanted but he did not care about her .

That is one thing that I am really sad they never really....cleared up. It still bugs me to this day that we really never learn exactly what happened with her. She has to be dead though because I would think if she was alive and Zuko became Firelord she would come forward. *shrugs* But, I have no idea what could have happened....everything leads to the fact she got killed though =( sad day.

Even after Ozai and Zuko's little 'talk' (by that I mean talk and get shot full of lightning) I still think that Ursa is dead. here's a reason. When Ozai becomes firelord, he could've easily Un-banished Ursa, why not? what would he lose?

In the finale, Zuko went to see Ozai in Prison and demanded Ozai tell him where Ursa was. This strongly suggests that Ursa is still alive, why would they end the series with this question only to find out she is dead later.

I'm assuming the point of setting up the ending with Zuko asking Ozai about where Ursa is leaves an opportunity for them to make a subplot at a later date.

From the Q&A with Michael Dante DiMartino, Bryan Konietzko and Joaquim Dos Santos during the SDCC 2008 Con, we know that Joaquim storyboarded Zuko seeing his mom for Sozin's Comet but that Michael vetoed it.

When Ozai becomes firelord, he could've easily Un-banished Ursa, why not? what would he lose? Since Ozai became Firelord because of Ursa's actions, it wasn't like Azulon was the one banishing Ursa. Seems to me that Ozai was the one who banished Ursa, more than likely to protect himself. If anything ever comes up, he can just explain what Ursa did, and explain the punishment for her actions and he is in the clear.

Perhaps either Ursa had a hand in (to possibly protect Zuko) or somehow came to know of Ozai's involvement in Azulon's death, and he banished her to keep her quiet. If she had died as well, it would have been to coincidental and the fact Azulon "passed" the throne down to Ozai and skipped over Iroh probably raised enough eyebrows as it was.

I've read the past couple of pages. I've always loved Ursa even though she isn't in the show all that much. I would love to know if she alive or not. There seems to be some debate as to what happen to her and what happen when she left. Azula for once could have been telling the truth when she told Zuko that their father was going to kill him to fit his crime. It would make some sense that Ursa would do anything to make sure Zuko was kept alive and so did kill Azulan And was banished. And the reasons she wasn't allowed to return could be fallendragon reasoning as it makes sense to me. I think she may still be alive but that can also be debated. We may never know but it's nice to think about what happen to her and that night.
