Nice observation about the wives not being mentioned. I wonder what did happen to Iroh's wife and why she is never mentioned. I don't see Ursa running away because she didn't want to deal with the responsibility of being a queen. Not only is that not motherly of her, and she was definitley a good mother, she was raised as royalty so I doubt that she wouldn't be able to handle being queen. By the way, I love your signature.

I dunno what happened to Ursa, and I'm hoping she's alive, but the liklihood that she's alive, well, I dunno what to think. My theories have varied since I first saw the episode. Thanks for the compliment, I love stars, and the constellations Ursa Major/Minor made a fitting tribute to Ursa.

What do you think would happen- if Ursa is alive- if not only Zuko somehow met up with her, but Azula too... ? Random question, just wondering

Or what would happen if Ozai found out! Well we don't know what Ozai thinks, or how much he knows, and that shot of his back wasn't very clear. Some people say he was saddened by the disappearance of his wife, others said he could've been smirking because his son would no longer be babied. I'm throwing this in just now: Ozai was standing at the pond where Ursa often sat. Could it have any significance? I guess if Zuko had found out and had reunited with his mother, he'd want to know where she'd have been all these years, and why she left them. Don't forget, in his mind, she's dead. He dreamt so, and he told Katara so (though even his words to Katara could've been vague- instead of meaning "she's dead" he could've meant "she's disappeared, and it's all my father's fault" or something like that). And for some reason, I think Azula would try to attack her mother. She's very aggressive, and doesn't show the type of affection towards Ursa as Zuko would.

Well, just to put this firmly in the theories category - here's mine:
Azulon didn't tell Ozai to kill Zuko. He was going banish Ozai (all we know is that his 'suffering has just begun). Azula makes up the 'kill your first born' lie to scare Zuko, tells it to Ursa who then kills Azulon to save Zuko. Ozai's along for the ride, seeing his opportunity to get the birthright.
It just makes Ozai even more of a stinker if he wiggles his way out of being exiled and then turns around and does that very thing to his own son.
I wonder if Iroh knows what happened to Ursa. If he does, he's a little stinky for not telling Zuko. Even if it's bad, he should still tell him everything he knows.

I hope Ursa is still alive, then Zuko will get to see her again and he'll be an uber happy little prince ;D The relationship between mothers and sons was highly revered in ancient China after all

He dreamt so, and he told Katara so (though even his words to Katara could've been vague- instead of meaning "she's dead" he could've meant "she's disappeared, and it's all my father's fault" or something like that). Neither actually told the other that their mother was dead: Katara:"The Fire Nation took my mother away from me." Zuko: "I'm sorry. That's something we have in common." The dream Azula said "Sleep, just like mother..." so he probably thought she was dead...but it was after that that he saw her begging for help...and it's probably this that has sown the seeds for his upcoming search for her...

It would be nice if she's alive, but where did she go? If she's hiding somewhere, you'd think she'd at least try to stay close to her son, since he seemed so important to her.

She is alive in a interview Mike and Bryan said that Zuko will look for his mother.I guess is that when he dreamed about the red and blue dragons,if he picked the blue one he'll get swallowed up.Also he saw his mother. So that means after of course Azula betrays Zuko,he escaped from her and freed Iroh. Then he'll look for his mother.

Hmmm...maybe that's how he interpreted the dream...and he only chose to side with Azula in order to get to his mother...

I would like to think that way, but Zuko doesn't seem like the type of person who would think like that. Maybe he did though, they never actually say how he interpreted the dreams and they aren't mentioned outside of that one episode. Maybe we'll learn when the new season starts...

I think this whole Ursa thing is kinda like star wars. In star wars Anikan goes away from home then he has nightmares of losing his mom. This is what is hapening to Zuko. I think that Ursa probaly ran away from home after she killed Azulon. Maybe she is also involved with the white lotus society. They could have given her a new identity to sneak into ba seng se. Zuko is probaly going to go searching for her soon kinda like what Anikan did.

Hope he doesn't find her dying like Anikin did...that he does not need... Eekkk. Goodness I hope that doesn't happen. I'm not to interested in seeing him flip out and watching him slaughter the Avatar world equivalent of a tribe of Sand People. Although I think that Avatar would pull that scene off much better than the one from the actual movie.

I have two theories. I think that Ursa told Ozai to kill her instead of Zuko. It's just the way she talked to Zuko and the way his father doesn't say anything when Zuko asks where's his mom. I could be wrong but she could have just fled and we'll see her again maybe sometime in the 3rd season. But we also have to consider that Azula was lying to get Zuko scared. Then she told Ursa the same thing and Ursa tried to stop Azulon and killed him. I think while she was doing this there was a witness and that's who i think she heard in the hallway. Then since there was a witness she had to flee before Ozai found out. But when Ozai was getting crowned he seemed rather happy about his father's death. Coincidence? I don't know. But that's what i think
