*Sigh*
I wish I never would have posted about Azula being a great villain or not...

... maybe from the fact you said you weren't thinking of either of them, and pulled out my name in reference to what you *were* thinking about by dismissing my "effort" as an ironic argument, implying that I failed in this debate and you used that to dismiss the other's arugement.

What I meant to convey in my original message was my disagreement with the notion that a ten-second game of Tag could override all of Azula's negative behavior, which Melis listed in her post about what makes Azula a great villain. There's nothing more to it. I've never called anyone an idiot, pathetic, or the like. grandmaster, you're assigning a hostility to my posts that was never there. ... maybe from the fact you said you weren't thinking of either of them, and pulled out my name in reference to what you *were* thinking about by dismissing my "effort" as an ironic argument, implying that I failed in this debate and you used that to dismiss the other's arugement. An implication of failure wasn't my intention, believe it or not.

General Z',
You had a very arrogant, self righteous tone in your post, and it was implied that we were in some way inferior to you and your home girl Melis because we have diffrent views on Azula.

I think the word you're looking for is condescending But, can we get back on track, we're seriously off-topic here. ~Téa

GOZ: Oh all right. I won't take it that way then. ^_^
And MsJimmy you shouldn't either, because you didn't fail. We all read the post and got different signals from it--perceiving it to be patronizing, but GOZ didn't mean it that way--we were just victims of a chained reaction.
Back on topic: Princess Azula of the Fire Nation, if she dies, how do you think she'll go? How do you want her to go?
I don't want her to go, but if she must--I hope it's one heck of a fight. ^_^

So, thank you, Maylene! Back on topic: Princess Azula of the Fire Nation, if she dies, how do you think she'll go? How do you want her to go? I want her to do as much collateral damage as possible ( without killing any of the main characters ). I want her to make a name for herself and be immortalized in everyone's minds.

I would like Azula to get one of those cool deaths. COD was a perfect time to kill her off... I want her to try and do something big, fail, then give it one more shot before going out like a champ. That would be so cool.

There would be loads of emotion behind that battle. ~Téa

I do think it should be Zuko that defeats her...that's really my only reason for not supporting the "Fire Lord Azula" theory.

At that point we have to look towards what the creators themselves say. The DVD boxset comes out today...I ordered mine on Amazon so I don't have it yet. Anyone care to give a clear and straightforward quote of exactly what they say about Azula in the CoD commentary? Allow me to aid you. Here's the entire scene, transcripted to the best of my ability. Including all relevant conversations so it's not out of context. Sorry, but I can't tell the creators' voices apart. Takes place at 12:12, when Long Feng confronts, and is defeated by Azula. Creator- "This is a great scene written by Aaron. I remember him. His idea for it was was, you know the fact that Azula's so confident, so powerful, and her self-assurance that she could break this man just by, you know, just by talking to him basically. She doesn't even need to lift a finger. "Other creator- "Yeah. Unfortunately in real history there are people like Azula, who... are just so charismatic but sort of soulless that they're, and you know, but they are able to climb to positions of influence. Same with people like Long Feng. Unfortunately throughout history, these people who are willing to sell out their, own countrymen just for their own security, you know, their own job security and power."Interpret this as you wish. But there were other comments in the same episode that somewhat supports the redemption idea. Doesn't mean it will happen, but that you can't rule out the possibility. 7:40, as the gAang and Iroh talks to the defector Dai Lee "We like to do that in Avatar. We like to, we said this before, but we try to treat the characters in a pretty realistic way and allow for human error. And character arts that, you know um, show a more realistic thought process. Personalities and conflict."9:45, as Aang and Iroh walk through the tunnel "So in uncle's response, we see, sort of his attitude after he lost his son LuTen in the siege of BSS. You know, uncle used to be a very powerful, very ambitious kind of guy but he sort of lost his, uh, appetite for that kind of stuff. I mean, you know, there was always probably a good, a good gentle worldly man inside of uncle. But, but, you know when he was a younger man, he, he had much more aggressive side. But he's getting older, and uh, the loss of his son really aged him and changed his attitude. That's why he kinda puts most of his focus on Zuko."

No one here is denying that they like redemption stories...that's what Zuko's for. And Iroh...who they were talking about in that scene.
We're just denying Azula will be redeemed.
Because they've represented her character in such a manner that redeeming her at this point would be rediculous.

It depends on how you define redemption, Yiceman. If Azula is redeemed the way I think she will be, you most likely won't consider it redemtion.
