At the ending my bff was calling me at every commercial to talk about what happend and went she called me after the Azula meltdown I was crying <.< (Embarrassing, I know) But for some reson I could relate to Azula and its really creepy how much I act like her so after watching the meltdown I went to myself and said "hey you gotta change" yes I know its just a cartoon but I would have liked closer for her also not just poof shes not there anymore. Wow, I was just expressing on how I feel. I know that she is/was psychologically (and naturally) progressed into a state of insanity, and I know that she was already crazed with power, I am basically saying that I feel sad and sorry for her on how she ended up.

I deffinatly feel sorry for her and pity her for her crazyness but I love that aspect of her character and I always knew that she was mentally unbalanced and had serious problems. Her character is seriously one of the most amazing parts of an all ready epic finale and she is a credit to the writers and the creaters, how many sociopathic, powerful, warrior princesses do we see it takes everythings better with princesses to a whole new level I was eagerly awaiting her mental downfall and I wasn't dissapointed, indeed it surpassed my expectations

Iroh did say it best though
"she's crazy and needs to go down" or something to that effect...hands down she's the best villain any nickelodeon cartoon has ever shown, and then some.

You know, It is possable Azula went into madness (mostly at the end of season three) instead of being "crazy since her first introduction. I quess I one of a few who believe in that.

No I think so too,I didn't think anything about the insanity bit until "The Beach" when they play volleyball and she's all "You will never rise from the ashes of your failure and humiliation!" I sat there for a moment after seeing that and said "Wow....."

^^The moment that did it for me was her "divine right to rule" speech to Long Feng. Yeah, a lot of royals and nobility believe in something like that, but it was just the look in her eyes and the way she said it...I was just like, "Dude, she's absolutely nuts!"

I still think people are confuseing Azula and her so call mental state and the term crazy. I keep hearing people state that Azula is crazy in a scene that she not in control of her actions and emotion...hence the legal term Insane.
I think the whole "divine right to rule" speech she gave might be scary and full on the drama but it no where to indicate that she lost her mind. Heck that to me give more about her personality and she vindictiveness. As for You will never rise from the ashes of your failure and humiliation!" speech, You know it is possable that she one those persons that loves winning a bit too much...I'm pretty sure if it were a guy, it would be understandable.
not being mean for your choices of azula and her mind, but I think people throw the definition of crazy too loseley and I think it dose a injustice to Azula's character, personality and ego

^^By the time the finale rolled around, Azula was exhibiting classic symptoms of paranoid schizophrenia -- thinking everyone was going to turn against her, having hallucinations and delusions. My contention is that she must have already had latent mental instability if she deteriorated so rapidly. It doesn't do the slightest injustice to her character -- it summarizes it very nicely. She's a megalomanical sociopath, who has been missing critical elements of humanity since childhood. It's perfectly fine to have a favorite character, but anyone who tries to say that Azula isn't crazy is just in fan-denial!

Well I can accpet that she megalomanical sociopath ,but I also expect that she was control of her actions and words and at the end she had a Mental breakdown. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mental_breakdownI'm just stateing that she not crazy in the term that we know it as...heck Zuko too had a nervous breakdown as during much of season two and season three.

I think shes always had mental problems from her first introduction because of her innate cruelty and callousness that was there in her first scene. She just went through different stages of crazyness from cool murderous sociopath to raving paranoia.
I think its correct to say she has a lot of problems from 'abandonment' from mother, upbringing from her father, inbuilt desire and ambition and probably a little bit of crazy genes which we know happens in real royal families

You're splitting verbal hairs. Maybe under the law being "insane" means that you're not held accountable for your actions. However, this isn't a case of legal jargon. We're talking about character analysis here, and if you agree that Azula is a meglomanical sociopath, then you are agreeing that she's insane! Both megalomania and having a sociopathic personality are mental disorders. Being "crazy" doesn't mean that you have to raving and foaming at the mouth (though Azula ended up that way at the end, so I don't see how anybody has room to make a case for her sanity). Mental disorder takes many forms, many of which go unnoticed and pass as "normal" behavior, particularly in a culture like the Fire Nation where violent, aggressive behavior is considered the norm. An argument could be made that thanks to Sozin and the successive leadership of the Fire Nation, the entire culture of the Fire Nation suffered mental imbalance. More to come later on Azula's personality breakdown, but I have to run... -- Spiritbender

Still she seem to know what is right and wrong and was cofortable with the actions she committed and it show pretty much with season two and three. Most people take the quotes and actions of azula and use it in context to explain that her being crazy, I'm saying she was conduct her self resonable state through out season two and three and that she nervous breakdown and at the end of seaon three with enviorment she was in with the pressure she had received and hence why she had a Mental breakdown see Mariah Carrey
Could this have all been pent-up emotion prior to her breakdown...Could be because It seem that Isolation could be her weekness. Lost of friends and lost of a father and the end of the seaon as well as her persuasive actions in "Return to Omashu". Still It is possable to be in sound and mind and be megalomania sociopathic
at the end my debate is mostly that she was sane through out season two and season three, prior to the end because of what is culturly accpetable in Government and it Military.

Oh I was wondering does anyone think that Aang took away Azula's bending as well.. Bryke have said that it isn't a one time deal and it seems like the safest thing to do to her for her own safety and others.... I wouldn't like if she did appear in a new series to end up like this (I would want her being the main villian bent on revenge) but if she is never to grace our screens again *tear* then it seems like the most reasonable assumption.

He probably did, being the great guy he is,he would have done it for the safety of others and also in some twisted way her own safety,I'm sure anyone would eventually hurt themselves spitting fire out like she did. That'd be cool if they did another series and made her the villain,I'd love to see how that would turn out.
