Yue kinda annoys me. She was the perfect, tragic princess type. Beautiful and caught in the laws of the North Pole, forbidding her from being with her true love. Don't get me wrong, Yue was a nice girl, but her role was highly stereotypical. Agreed, she always seem A LITTLE mary-suish to me. (don't kill me please.)

Aw, lay off of the girl folks. It's not like they had a lot of time to develop her before they had to get rid of her.

^ speak the truth. She was a story device and her sacrifice had to be felt.

I kinda liked Yue, but I defenitely wouldn't want her to be with Sokka or the Gaang. ESPECIALLY Sokka.........

Aww, I liked Yue Though I think she would have been more believable (and endearing) if she had been developed over more than one episode. But oh well, she's still an adorable character

^^True....very true. Karma points...... Aww, thanks! It just makes me sad when people say they flat out hate Yue because I found her so sweet and selfless, a true heroine. Maybe if she had sacrificed herself later on in the series? Then we would've gotten to know even more about her...and maybe even seen her and Suki interact XD If they had, I think Yue would've been very polite and sincere to her, not showing any jealousy at all. That's one of the things I admire about Yue: she puts others' feelings over her own

Ugh. I just really don't like Yue. So princess-stereotypish. I mean...come on, her hair was white, which is abnormal for girls that were sixteen. And she became a spirit too. It just seems so mary-sueish to me. And she was always so sweet and nice and always putting others before her and it was just so annoying. It also really bugged me at how Sokka threw himself at her. I just didn't like her very much.

Princess Yue's greatest virture is also her most tragic flaw. Yes, a person can be too selfless.
It is unfair to point fingers at a character and call them a Sue who appeared in only 3 episodes, especially when in those three episodes we battles big and small that relate directly and indirectly to her, but do not include her in the usual sense.
Yue is not a canon-Sue as "perfect" as she seems to be. We know very little about her in truth, as there simply was not enough screentime for her to show a larger display of thoughts and emotions. And while rebelious characters like Katara are great, you need to look at characters who come from a different side. And while going against the norm like Katara does frequently, it is just as hard to put yourself out there and do things that will not make you happy, even if helps ensure the safety of everyone. Yue had a duty and she stuck to it, because she knew there were more important things then what she wanted.
In truth, Yue's decision is mirrored in Aang's decision in the S2 finale. Both had to think beyond what they wanted, Yue did it faster is all; since she has been, most likely, taught since she was a small child to think of her people first and herself second. We can't tell if Aang was taught those same things.

I don't see a lot of people like that, who don't put their needs first every once in awhile. Sorry.

Aww that's okay, you're definitely entitled to your opinion I just have always placed selflessness as being a very high virtue, but in some cases I do agree that it can be too much.

i agree that yue's character is stereotypical (and so are some of the other characters) but i still love her i think she is awesome. sure she may have cheated her should-be husband by kissing sokka but that guy is a womanizer and she doesnt love him so i don't find it exactly wrong or a big deal if she fell for sokka. i would've done the same if im forced to marry someone i don't love. i actually find her selfless as she's willing to go through that fixed marriage as long as it would help her people, and bec. she sacrificed her life to revive the fallen moon spirit. yue's one of the best characters in the show despite her short screentime. i also like the suki-sokka loveteam and wouldn't mind if they ended up with one another. but i believe yue is sokka's first and true love

It's a shame she's dead, but at least her sacrafice was worth something as great as saving the Moon Spirit's life.
