It's just a lot of math and number crunching. And a little history...

Does anyone else smell a fic in this or is it just me?

Hmmm... 188 divides equally in 2 by *goes on calculator* 94 *hides calculator. So if Kyoshi and the other avatar died at 94 (there is no proof they didn't) then it MIGHT work

Well, who said it was necessarily two? There's a darn good possibility there could have been more, and they all just died off really young. We don't know anything about the history of this place...

People, think about this. The time of the the show is like thousands of years ago. Life expectancy was probably like 40 or something! So, taking that into consideration, I've done the math. If Kyoshi was the Avatar before Roku, then 400-112(for Aang)=288. 288/2(For the life spans of Roku and Kyoshi)=144. There's no way. Now, if Kyoshi was the 6th Avatar before Aang. 400-112=288/6=48. A lot more resonable now don't u think (Considering the time and lack of modern medicine and medical techniques.)
Not to brag or anything, but I did that all in my head! (Math's my fave subject besides band and Avatar.)
Who here who plays an instrument wishes they could play one shown on Avatar? I'm a bing fan of the songi horn! (I play French Horn in the "real" world, so, it fits.)

The time of the the show is like thousands of years ago. Life expectancy was probably like 40 or something! Just because the show takes place thousands of years before our modern time, you can't necessarily compare their life expectancy to ours. I mean, look at Monk Gyatso and Iroh -- both of them look well into their 60's. Gran Gran is 80 (so says her e-card, and King Bumi is at least 109! Early Europeons and such may have mostly had limited lifespans, but the Asian community has a record for living very long lives. Besides, it would really limit the show if most of the people only lived to their 40's. But if they got killed before then, then that's a completely different matter.
