Okay, own up all of you Transformers fans.
Do we have any G1 fans? What about Beast Wars? Or any of the many other series that were spawned from the toy line. ;D I'm personally a fan of both Beast Wars and G1. My favourite characters are Dinobot, Waspinator, Slingshot, Jazz and Cliffjumper.

I think I am the only one who know this... My fav transformer series was when I was about 5 years old... I had trouble finding the name but finally here it is:- Transformers: Master forceAlso known as Head masters and super god master force... Unlike other transformer series, these are not about robots... this series is about humans who found these pair of bracelets from an Alien origin and when placed together, they form an armor around the humans and give them the ability to transform into heads or cartridges then attach them to their parent vehicles and turn them into transformers as we know today... My fav character was Menirva A junior squad member along with other two juniors and is the medic of the crew... The opening theme: www.youtube.com/watch?v=CHFWTfPKwJIMan... I can't believe Japanese opening theme used to sound like this... but it brings back lotsa memories... ^_^ Here's a scene: Brith of the junior forceApparently, these kids don't require a license to drive...

G1 all the way Beast wars and beast machines were very decent... Beast machines was very dark, and megatron in it was just plain wicked I am one of BM biggest defenders, its much better then the newer crap.

Some of the stuff they did in Beast Wars was pretty dark as well - the scene in the last episode where Depth Charge and Rampage are battling is a good example. If Depth Charge hadn't been using Cybertronian slang, there's probably no way they would have allowed him to say that kind of thing in a cartoon.

Everyone loves Soundwave. It's like my friend Tak says "Besides Soundwave, which Transformer do you like best?" I still like Jazz - it's too bad the character was regulated to a non-speaking background role after Scatman Crothers died.

I saw some Transformer series way back when...it was called Renegades. I think. but translations/dubs often also butcher the names...
They where sooo much more fun to watch then the current ones, I have to agree, I guess the cheapo computer animation is a dead giveaway....(though to my then untrained eye and mind, I never knew which was which, good guy, bad guy....)

I've never seen any of the Japanese Transformer series - just the ones that originated in the USA (G1, Beast Wars, etc). A lot of times (especially with Beast Wars, considering how new CG was as an animation medium back when the series came out) it was the story and the characters that made the series and not the art. I wasn't so fond of Beast Machines - maybe if they hadn't tried to make it "canon" I wouldn't have minded so much though.

It's a Transformers sub-series that came out in the 90s. It was one of the first CGI cartoons - which means compared to nowadays it's not all that great, but the engaging storyline more than made up for that. It was also very distinctive in its continuous storyline and because of several dark moments (many of which are very surprising to see on what would be considered a "kids" show).
And Waspinator rocks. I met his VA at a convention in Toronto - he's a great guy. Scott McNeil. He also does the voices of Dinobot, Rattrap and Silverbolt. *Grins* I bet he had a lot of fun at recording sessions.

Yeah...I just do not acknowledge the recent stuff that calls itself Transformers. And while I loathe Beast Machines, the TF stuff that came afterwards sadly makes BM look decent. G1 Transformers was great though. Prowl (the police car) was my favorite character, so imagine the psychological pain I went through after watching the Transformer Movie for the first time. Beast Wars was honestly better in just about every way to G1 TF. I know we G1 fans at times are loathe to admit it, but BW covered many of the weaknesses of G1. - It reduced the cast size in order to further develop the characters, so the characters actually had more unique and memorable personalities. - It had a plot with continuity, though here is an interesting aside. The writers for BW actually were not familiar with G1 TF, so when they mentioned the "Great War" in the first episode they actually had no real idea that it could be linked to the G1 wars. In fact it was only after they suddenly go barraged with questions about it that they began to use TF consultant fans to ensure that it made sense with the G1 comics or cartoon. There are even scattered easter egg references to these fan consultants (when Waspinator goes crazy he calls himself "Wonko the Sane," which was the username for Ben Yee of BWTF.com). They also were not entirely sure of where they were taking the plot, but they planted potential bits here in there (the Standing Stones) they could (and did) develop later. - The show had some dark moments, but also its fair share of light-hearted moments. - The characters could die.

Beast wars was great, Megatron was a bad Equus asinus in it. My favorite ep was the "death" of Dinobot. I think i actually teared up in that ep.
Beast Machines.... could have been MUCH better. The hybrid designs they used and the lack of "weaponry" really didn't click with me.
But G1 always has a place in my heart (yes Shockwave was the best, and i was one of the many fans that was outraged at the rumor that he would be in an IPod in the new movie (it was just a bases less rumor)). Other than the S man I liked the Dinobots, though i really wished they could combine into a giant transformer. I think only the insectacons and the dinobots where the only "sub" teams that couldn't form a giant robot.
