Thanks--I'm glad you liked my other fic!
Yeah, I know what you mean... In writing my young Ursai fic, it's been hard to keep from hyperventilating whenever i hit on a particularly fanservice-y description of the younger prince (tho i try not to overdo it)... lol XD

Wow, not a single thread on this most undisputidly canon of canon ships? *gasps* Mike and Bryan hinted that this relationship started out much better than it ended up. The Ozai we know is bent on world domination like his father and grandfather before him, but is this a sign that in the past he was a much more loving and devoted husband and father? Did is own desire for his father's approval and power consume him? are we seeing signs of history repeat itself with Zuko? Also, is there any Ursa/Ozai fanart or fics out there? This ship deserves some love! Wait... what? When did M&B ever hint that this was anything but an arranged marriage?

When did M&B ever hint that this was anything but an arranged marriage? In an ASN interview Bryan said: "Also, there was a time when it probably wasn't such a bad marriage. I think they probably started okay. Certainly better than it ended up."

Ah, ok, thanks. ... though that seems pretty vague. He could have beat Ursa on their first night and it still would have been "better then it ended up". But your right in that I think Ozai would have been perfectly capable of charming her and her family until he had all he needed from the union. At which point He would have turned cold as his focus shifted towards world conquest. Once the children were born, their differences would have been only highlighted by the contrast between Zuko and Azula. But Ursa is not one to simply be pushed aside when her man becomes cold. She displayed a real joy and playfulness when we saw her with Zuko at the pond. By that time, we know that all true emotional ties they had were severed as soon after she was forced to sacrifice her freedom to save Zuko's life. So where did she get that playfulness? and that exuberance for life that we saw at the pond? Thats right... Iroh. In all seriousness though. After the Ozai/Ursa thing turned bad (rather quickly IMO) I cant imagine Iroh not comforting her. At least as a friend at first.

... though that seems pretty vague. He could have beat Ursa on their first night and it still would have been "better then it ended up". Perhaps but that really contradicts that the beginning of the their marriage was okay. It also contradicts Zuko's statement in "The Beach" that his family was once actually happy. Well, I don't know about that. Ozai seems like Azula in the sense he is calculating and merciless but with an exception. Azula's exceptions were Mai and Ty Lee and Ozai's was his wife. After all, this is the most affectionate we've seen him in the series. Well, you're right that Iroh was probably a great friend but I don't see it growing into something more. There's nothing to suggest it and Ursa has too much baggage with his brother and nephew. Heck, this art might even be true. XD

lol Yeah, I love that fanart. I'm sure Iroh would have comforted Ursa, but as an older brother(-in-law). Anyway, I've posted a couple chapters of that young Ursai fanfic I mentioned earlier, so I thought I'd go ahead and post it. The emphasis is on the ship (when Ozai isn't quite so evil, though he does get his share of jerk-ish moments), but Iroh also plays a big part. So, yeah, here's the link if anyone wants to read it.
