Okay, here it is.... kind of short, but whatever.
Prologue
In a twist of irony, they did not quite remember the events that led to their separation from their friends and their meeting. What they did remember varied, since they had been looking at it from different viewpoints.
She remembered the dust, swirling in the air and choking her, blinding her so she couldn’t see, couldn’t breathe, couldn’t use her stilettos. She remembered the ground quaking beneath her feet, causing her to stumble just to keep her footing. She remembered the pain, the brilliant flash of white light as a boulder collided with her head and knocked her to the ground. She remembered the world spinning and dimming all around her; she heard Ty Lee scream her name. Her fingers went limp, her stilettos falling uselessly to the grass before her world faded to black.
He remembered the blue flashes of fire, the heat sizzling in the air, practically burning his skin and making his eyes water. He remembered as well the ground quaking beneath his feet, but not as badly as she experienced because Toph was on their side. He remembered Katara screaming Aang’s name, because he was down and the Firebender was standing over him, looking to kill, and she could not aid him because she and Toph were struggling with Ty Lee.
He remembered seeing her, though by this point she was already unable to fight, sprawled in the grass as though dead, though he saw her sides rise and fall faintly and knew she was alive. He remembered grabbing his boomerang and charging the Firebender, determined to come to Aang’s aid. He remembered how the Firebender had seen him coming.
He remembered the burning agony as her flaming fist made direct contact with his chest, the force of the blast throwing him clear across the clearing even as the sparks scattered and began to flame, separating him and her from the others. He slid in the grass, jolting only slightly when his body collided with hers, causing her to grunt softly as he slumped against her, to weak to even attempt to push himself away from her as his world also faded to black.
The last thing they both remembered before the darkness dragged them under was that they had heard their friends calling their name.
They had been to weak, to far gone, to respond.
Together, without knowing they weren’t alone, they both fell into a world of darkness and cold.

Okay...this is getting really, really weird. But then, people pair Mai with Ty Lee for their oppositeness. Sokka's the closest thing the Avatar world has to a male Ty Lee...*shrugs*...maybe it would work...and we could have the rather steamy, past-Avatar-connectiviness of Zuki
