What I found disappointing in "The Southern Raiders" was how Katara didn't kill Yon-Rah. She was so angry and hurt. Katara always cried when her mother was brought up (outside of Haru) and she tended to get mad about it too, at least when she wasn't trying to empathize with someone. Then Zuko, an enemy who has constantly hunted Aang and stole the last connection to her mother burns the hand she offered and almost costs Aang his life. Somehow, despite all that rage, hurt, and sorrow, Katara stops herself from killing Yon-Rah and even gives him a speech before "maturely" walking away. I have such a hard time buying that. Katara isn't one to stop while she's ahead, she keeps picking at an issue until she gets her way or the situation explodes. You could say that she developed as a character, but for the past three episodes Katara was only a snide, rude, and hateful person who made childish insults to Zuko. You could also say that Aang's words finally reached Katara but she was only thinking about revenge; she stayed up fore what, two nights just thinking about her mother's death. Not too mention that it was such a typical conclusion. Wouldn't it have been interesting for Katara to have killed Yon-Rah and have to live with that? Or if she actually used bloodbending on him to further that idea? Katara wasn't timing the attack on the full moon so it was poor coincidence and only served to cheapen bloodbending.

My belief is that Katara is the one that helps to keep everything together and in order. If it weren't for her I don't know how they could stay "organized".

^^ Well theyre only a year a part and boys are said to mature more slowly than girls. Still, fair point. I think another reason Katara is more bitter about it could be sub-conscious guilt. I think part of Katara felt that if she had run faster for Hakoda or done something differently that day, Kya might not have died. Of course no one would ever blame Katara for what happened but its not so hard to imagine her feeling responsible since she was the last family member to see her mother alive. Actually, they're two years apart, anf Sokka is SIXTEEN! He's probably had enough time to mature. And, Katara is NOT the one keeping everyone organised! It's very obvious in the third season that Sokka is the one keeping everything organised while Katara is just trying to release her anger from her mother's death on Zuko, which is why I said she was a jerk. The least she could have done is killed the man who murdered her mother and at least pacify her anger for a bit.

^She's not nosy. She's just very caring and sympathetic. I'd be the same way. Ok...I need to get something off my chest (and...this is a little late, but oh well): I remember a lot of people complaining about how Katara treated Zuko at the end of The Western Air Temple. Well, let me say this: At least Katara didn't scream at Zuko, and at least Zuko wasn't o his death bed. I'm coming from Breaking Dawn (The last book in the Twilight saga). Leah (A werewolf, and Jake's friend) confronts Bella about how she's treating Jake...on her friggin' death bed and she screamed at her. WTF?! Leah is freaking 20! Katara is 14 and she was MUCH more calm! That...is sad. Seriously, when I first read that I was like "Wow...suddenly Katara is looking so much better...". [/rant]

katara is very nosey!!!!!!!!! Like with haru and the village with the 2 headed fish. Please state your point. Why is Katara nosy? What actions did she perform that make her nosy? Elaborate.

If Aang broke up with Katara (not only would the apocolypse come, but) Katara wouldn't go through a four-month depression period. If someone tried to send her on a guilt trip, she'd actually DEFEND herself rather than cry and have her husband flip out on the source of the guilt trip.

i have to second that. Katara is much stronger than bella. but when you really think about it their with older guys cause anng is 112 and edward is 104 (108 according to the movie) even though they are "physically" 12 and 17 respectively.

Just noticed that Katara seemed to be steam bending in "The Awakening". Are there any other instances of her doing that?

Someone compared Katara to Bella Swan and said the latter was stronger emotionally (perhaps psychically) to the former? Bella Swan was a weak little girl in the movie and the end of it she was a tag along. She always needs protection that Edward, which never saw a girl before, gladly provides because that would be the only girl he could get. Katara is must stronger than Bella.

I guess they both have that protective quality...but the way they think and act is different.
