I'm 39 and I watch it with my 8 yr. old son. He really loves the show, but I have to admit that I am obssessed with it! I have all the d.v.d.'s, and almost all the toys! Right now, I'm trying to collect all the cards, the toys I don't have yet and any other items that I find that are related to the show.

I'm 26. While I was in Japan I spread Avatar to 7 of my fellow English Teachers, all over 20. Its only too bad that I'm not still there now that its finally being broadcast in Japanese so that I could spread it to more people.
I have 3 friends in San Francisco that watch it as well. My older brother watches it with his two sons.

My moms "guy friend" whose like, in his 40's watches the show, haha. I'd like to talk with him about it but that'd be embarrasing :x Kinda. What I want to know is.. how do older people take on shipping? And stuff..

I don't really talk about shipping or anything with my peers (since I'm almost 20 soon), but we do discuss the plot and tone of the series. Talking with older fans, allows for more mature discussions.
Don't be afraid to discuss the show with someone older. I used to talk to my English teacher in high school about Star Trek all the time when I was in school.
You'd be suprised how avid some fans are about shipping no matter the age.....LOL.

Simple. In my case it was avoiding the show based on the character designs because I thought it was another boring American show with a stolen "anime" style of drawing. Then when nothing else is on and Avatar just happens to be starting up you settle for watching it and then you get pleasantly surprised by how good it is. I'm an animation fan 'till I die so shows aimed at children don't bother me as long as it's not too pandering or immature.

I guess I'm like a female Peter Pan, I'll never grow up! (LOL)

So maybe we'll bond, and watch avatar, and bond, lol. i know,i'm only 14,one of the younger members on here... i just have a curiousity, How do Adults get into avatar? unless they have younger children and they watch the show with them how do they? i thought this show was aimed for younger kids? i'm not trying to be mean ,i'm just curious. I almost despised it because I thought it'd be an anime knock-off. But really, it's nice... and I can name a few animes that Avatar is better than

wow! So glad I checked out this thread. I'm 27 and I thought I was the oldest person here by far!!
@ ethereal: I am a dedicated non-shipper, even though I like some of the possible pairings discussed. I figure I am more open to theories/speculation this way....
@gav: I was channel surfing one day and Avatar happened to be on. It was gorgeously presented, and the characters seemed interesting. Then, months later, it was on again, and I watched COD. I knew Zuko was on the 'bad' side and seeing him waffle, then finally choose 'bad' - it was amazing! It's rare to find writing that gutsy in adult programming, let alone something marketed at kids!
