I am only outwardly Avatarded in one of my classes. I talked about it a couple times whe the season started up again, but I don't much anymore. I'm good friends with all the girls in the class, and the boys are nice too, but it's still weird if I talk about it all the time. So today one of my friends was talking about this random boy she's OBSESSED with, and I said she had a creepy obsession with him. Then the cutest, most poular boy goes "Well at least she doesn't watch Avatar and obsess over that." And I had to try to defend that, but it didn't work because I had just argued Survivor was away better than pro-sports, so they didn't trust my judgement.

Yeah, in history we were doing this map coloring this and yada yada, then me and my friends were just casually tlaking, and before I know it, the subject is changed into avatar, thanks to me. Then my best friend (Who never really insults) says, with you it always goes into Avatar somehow! Well I was happy and well happy, I may be obsessed but I embrace it! It's awesome! And if people aren't willing to be happy about it with me, or even brush it off, than that's their problem. I don't enjoy people who amke fun of it, but most of the time, when they do, it's because I started it! But a few of my friends are willing to listen to my blaber about Aang and Katara and the ships, which I'm happy for. One of which is actually excited to hear about Avatar, she enjoys iit, and she likes to hear what I have to say!

I think being out of high school makes things easier. I'm a huge avatard, and I don't care what people think now. People come to accept other peoples geekiness when they grow up I suppose. When I do get the, 'Dude, that's laaaaame,' which is pretty rare, it's someone not really worth knowing, or people are just kidding around : )

All of my girlfriends but one make fun of me. Not terribly though. One of them hates it, and one of them is now an avatard, but nowhere near as much of an avatard as I am.
A couple of my guyfriends know I like it, and at first they were all like "That show is the lamest anime ripoff ever." And I was like "whatchootalkin'bout?" and I totally set them straight.

This is why I really love and respect this forum: You can just be yourself with people who are just like you! I mean, this forum is full of Avatards, and I think it's great that you can just openly discuss such a wonderful show with wonderful, accepting people. It's true: I even got one of my friends hooked on this forum! It's a great warm, inviting place to just hang out with people who are just like you!

I am at college as well, and Avatar doesn't appear to even exist here. It probably isn't the sort of show that would be discussed in Art School, given its anime-like style (which is severely looked down upon) and the pretentious preoccupation with proving how fantastic one's own art interests are. I'm sure if I brought up Avatar, it would be compared with the student's interest in Michelangelo then left to rot.
Beyond that, I haven't had any troubles.

People at my school don't know I'm an Avatard. Seriously, I'm one of the only people in my grade who's an Avatar fan. People always make fun of it. Like, this kid drew an arrow on his hand and said "I'm the mentally challenged Avatar! Beware my gay Avatar powers" and everyone else laughed. I shook my head in shame....

I'm going to revive this, because of something that happened in math class the other day. My teacher was explaining the lesson to us, and I think she asked, "Does everyone understand?" or something. A kid yelled out "Yep yep!" but it sounded like "Yip Yip!" (I swear, it really did). The guy who sits next to that guy was like "Like in Avatar?" The first guy was like, "What's that?" The second guy was like, "What? You've never seen that show?" And a third guy said, "It's some stupid kid's show on Nickelodeon." And everybody but me laughed at him. I would've said something, but I was concentrating on finishing my homework.

^ This annoys me a lot. People just automatically dismiss it as a "stupid kid's" show, just because it's animated. It's exactly for that reason know one knows I like Avatar except for my ten year old brother, and even he makes fun of me for it! So I figure if a ten year old is willing to laugh at you, what would a bunch of sullen arrogant teenagers say? Thats what I hate about school, everything is so intense and everyone's so narrow minded. I suppose it doesn't help that I go to an all girl's catholic school, run by nuns... God forbid I enjoy a well written TV show with suburb characters and plot.. (apologies for the rant BTW )

^My teacher's 26, and watches the show. When everyone else in the class puts my friend and I down for watching the show, she says they just think they're too cool for it. Truth is, Avatar is too cool for them.
My cousins have made fun of me, but they like the show as well. They're just not rabid supporters.
My own dad makes fun of me, and puts down the show, saying its' too violent (he should watch Naruto), but I'm sure to put on Avatar when he's around, slowly get him hooked on it (just like I did with my mom ;D )

One of my friends teases me for liking Avatar and her stupid younger brother thinks Avatar sucks because its not Japanese. But I don't have a problem with either of them. My friend is obsessed with Death Note, and she was nice enough to draw me a picture of Katara and Aang for my birthday and her brother thinks the only good shows are on Adult Swim, so what does he know? Anyway,if any of you have a DA, then you might of heard of my friend. She told me her "name" on that sight is RG
