Unknown Asian actors would be best to evoke the feel of the Avatar world...

I could actaully see Amber Tamblyn as Song or Jin
Still I don't see why it has to be Asian actors...I mean look at the movie line up for live action DBZ...I'm sure there be asian actors I doubt there be just these actors only.

Because Asian actors would be better in a movie that has Asian martial arts, Asian architecture, Asian clothes, Asian names and very Asian cultures. Seeing a white actress in a kimono doing Northern Shaolin Kung-Fu looks laughable in my head.

I'm sorry but the image of a white woman in Hangbok doing some Hung Gar looks ridiculous to me. Multiracial cast would work if the other nations weren't so obviously Asian. But that's not the case here.

Just glad the studios don't listening Ummm I'm pretty sure that the fact that it's Asian-inspired should be a no-brainer... Anyway whatever, go watch your black guys in Eskimo outfit doing Tai Chi. The whole movie would look like one big joke. Non-Asian people in Asian settings. It would be like if the Lord of the Rings films with its medieval Europe-inspired setting had an all-black or all-Asian cast rather than an all-white cast.

What about Charlene Choi? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charlene_Choi I'm not sure who she could be though...in my head I see Song though. I think they should find the right Asian actors/actresses than just dub their voices with the voice actors. That way they'll look right for the part and we'll still have the voices we love! Then again, that sounds expensive.

^She's pretty.
I'm sure there are many aspiring Asian-American actors and actresses that they can discover for that.

Personally, I think a multi-cultural cast could work very well if done right. Afterall, while based on Eastern cultures, Avatar is still set in a world all its own, not ours. For example, Sokka and Katara (and all Water Tribe characters) simply do not look Asian. It'd be best if they'd have Inuit or Native American actors to portray them. But if not, then at least hispanic or black actors. Fire Nation characters such as Azula, Zuko, Iroh, and Mai would have to be Asian. No ifs or butts about it, their looks require it. As far as the Air nomads, well... they are based on Tibet monks. Yet their looks seem a bit varied. Perhaps more than one ethnicity applies here. As far as the Earth Kingdom, being the most geographically vast, I think there'd be range for several ethnicities. It would depend more on the looks of the individual character and their family. Like Haru, for example, looks on the Hispanic side to me, as does Jin. While Teo and his daddy appear very white, as do Li and his blue-collar family. As for an actress... I think this actress would be great for either Jin or maybe Katara. She's versatile enough, and supposedly she's a real Avatard. She's done mostly stagework so far, but she'd be good for movies.

Midde Earth is a world all of its own too. So you saying it could've worked with a multi-cultural cast? I lived in Alaska for three years, Inuit people can and tend to look Asian. I'm all for Native American actors though. All the older monks/nuns look Asian. Aang only has big eyes because it's anime style. We can't really base it on what the cartoon looks like. The cartoon is inspired by anime. In anime, Asian and White characters look the same. This stems from Japanese mindset of trying to be Westernized. But this is going to be live action.

Vanessa Hudgens is Asian. 0_o Anyway, not all actors have to be Asian or Inuit. Look at the musical Evita: it's set in Argentina and is about an Argentine First Lady, but the main character is played by a British actress. Hardly anyone in that movie is Hispanic/South American/Mexican/Spanish.
