If you have a large sig, it needs to be resized. Please ask nicely if you want it to be resized and volunteers will do it in the thread.
Sizes: 500 x 150 is common and it loads fast. The maximum I would say would be 550 at width and 250 at height. Nothing more or it will stretch the page...

Just a suggestion: You may want to give the dimensions of acceptable signature sizes. For example, what is the maximum width a signature can be so that it doesn’t stretch the frames? How big is too big?

also take note that if the sig is smaller generally it would look better because there won't be as much empty space and the graphic will be of higher quality. Smaller images hide impurities better.

And also could people please take the size of the files into consideration. I don't like having to sit there for n minutes, waiting for images to load.

Is mine too big? Mine is 600 by 200... EDIT: Oh wait, that's when you look at my profile. When I post it's 500 by 167.

It's fine because if the code didn't work, it wouldn't stretch the page. The entire page is 750 px, the mini-profile is about 150-200... so it's fine.

I like people with the giant screenshots for sigs. Makes it soooo easy to read posts.[/sarcasm]

Are we permitted to have more than one signature, even if together they exceed the pixel hight limit? (I'm guessing not, but I figured I'd ask...)

widthwise, absolutely not... heightwise: only if it they aren't all animated and it takes a while to scroll but it's fine I guess.

It stretches out the page and it's harder to read the text...

Mine's okay, right? I don't think it's all that big.

It's fine, maybe a bit smaller but it's not a big deal

Thanks for the clarifications; several times on the forum I saw my banner being resized, and I suspected it was large, but I wasn't quite sure what the guidelines were.
