And we're stating ours, spirityue.
People are allowed to disagree. And even if you hadn't posted your opinion, I'm sure people would have still posted theirs.

Is the log of karmas and smites only available to staff? And what is a screenshot of smiting? I'm confused and I've never seen the smite button either.

@paraiba Ocean, yes I know, and you're right about people being allowed to disagree, I guess it just kinda surprised me that people would feel so strongly either way about this, that's all.

And the screen shot is referring to a screen shot of the log / person profile who was effected. Or in other words physical evidence. And the smite button was removed via code and it somtiems shows up on slow page loads and on slow Internet connections.

No, smiting is definitely "not gud" in my opinion. As I said, I'm not making a big stupid thing about this like when people were upset that they werent allowed to spam. I'm making a thing out of the fact that they are punishing people who did it before it was made a rule. the staff didn't condone smiting after the button was removed but we are now just putting a rule out there on the forum. ^I guess that isn't true after all.

QFT
Seriously if we are banning people for giving memebers the digital finger via Smiting. And kissing arse with other members through exaulting. The all we are enforcing is popularity and competition
Seriously. Get rid of the Karma system. I don't care about my 96 points it really nothing. If it comes down this Muso, why do we even have it.
Get rid of the karma system. It's not helping anything

Oh, I forgot about that option. And how it's the best one.
All karma is good for is letting you know who makes graphics.

If you have an issue with someone, talk to them. Or talk to a staff person. Get karma by being a good member and contributing positively to the forum. I mean yeah, sometimes the karma seems like popularity, but I usually only karma if someone has made a good post in one of the discussions. For me, I just see it as a way for saying god job, great post and might encourage that person to continue making good posts.

I would like to confess that I recently performed a smite. and it was likely the one that started this new inquiry.
I have since given the karma back and given a reason for the smite.
here is the message with things edited out to keep things anonymous
A comminution like this will be much more effective then little piggy points, which the person likely doesnt care about anyways.
the karma is just a ful little game one can play with one's self. I personally tried to keep my karma above a 1/10 ratio by bosting quality theories and discussions... but once you get above 100 or so, there's really not too much you can do to keep it up short of making fan media... which i have no talent for. so recently, ive stopped looking at all.

That was very mature of you Zenjamin, thank you. And I agree, communication like that would be much more effective than smiting without reason, or even returning karma without the people knowing why they lost it in the first place. For those who have smited others and never told their target why, I hope they would pm them like you did.
edit: And yeah, this problem has been going on for months now, and it's not the fault of just one person.

Heh, yeah that wouldn't really help matters. Explaining the reason, and even linking to a post or thread showing what you're talking about, would make it much better for both sides to understand the problem. And if it was just a misunderstanding, explaining things will help clear it up instead of just fanning the flames even more.
