What occurs to me of a sudden is this: I don't get the feeling that the descendants of Sozin have much love for Roku. So it wouldn't make sense for a descendant of Sozin to marry a descendant of Roku. And obviously, Zuko didn't know it. I'm pretty sure no one would have known. I mean... I doubt Azulon or Ozai knew Ursa's true lineage, she must have kept it secret. But Iroh knew. And how did he know? And was there some plan to secretly marry a descendant of Roku to a descendant of Sozin? Who would have such a plan? People who wanted someone like Zuko to be born, to return balance (oh, this is getting too Star Warsy). People like the Order of the White Lotus... Also this probably means Ursa never really loved Ozai (which makes sense) but was just carrying out an unpleasant duty...

Anyone else sensing the trend with animals and important benders when they die. They die or I guess freeze also together. The red dragon curled around Roku, and Appa floated above Aang. For the Avatar the animal acts as a guide in the natural and spirit worlds so in a sense that have to die with them.

I though it was cute and sad how Roku's dragon died with him. But its kinda weird that Aang is somewhat the great grandfather of Zuko. Its a nice plot turn in the story that Roku and Zuko are related, this could mean there is a bigger chance that Zuko will join Aang.

I wonder if this has something to do with Iroh's line in "The Avatar State": "Sometimes in our family, things are not always what they seem." And Aang techinally being Zuko's great-grandfather is kinda funny.

Roku is the great grandfather of Zuko. Which would make Aang the reincarnation of the great grandfather of Zuko.

Sorta reminds me of Tusken Raiders and banthas from Star Wars. The have a really close relationship and if the Tusken RAider dies, then the bantha will get all depressed and commit suicide.

If Roku became the avatar, and Ozai became firelord, and If Aang became the avatar also, and Zuko will become the firelord, then i hope later in the season Aang and Zuko will become friends just like Roku and Ozai.

What next thing people will be saying is that Avatar is more of Nickelodeon's Star Wars franchise then it's Harry Potter franchise?

What I really don't understand about the episode is the bit where they showed Aang's birth or whatever... that struck me as completely out of nowhere and not directly related to what was going on, but maybe it'll make more sense if I rewatch it. But anyway. I don't think of Aang as related to Zuko. I mean I know it's just sort of metaphorically or whatever, but still. An Avatar is an individual first, with his own mind, his own personality, and his own bloodline. Aang has, as far as I can tell, no biological relationship to Zuko, even if he has a spiritual one. Sort of.
Also it was neat to see someone of the proper age being informed on his 16th birthday that he was the Avatar, instead of being told prematurely as Aang was. I enjoyed seeing the similarity between Aang and Roku's reactions to the news, but also the fact that Roku was better able to deal with it, being more mature. And of course seeing him training... I've always been under the impression that an Avatar started with his native element, and then moved on in a cycle, fire-air-water-earth-fire. But sometimes I've seen people suggest this wasn't the case. It's nice to see that it is. Also nice touch about Roku having trouble with water, his opposing element, like Aang's trouble with Earth.
