dang It just hit me that there another generation involve before Iroh and Ozai... so confuse now Why? Fire Lord Azulon didn't do much. He was only Fire Lord for 23 years. Very short time. He was already old when he became Fire Lord if Sozin only recently died 23 years beforehand.

wyrmking, I love your siggy. "The only crack ship that's canon! Azuzulala!" >.< That's now my favorite ship.
I was hoping we'd hear more about Zuko's mother. So Sozin died peacefully in his sleep... we do know that Azulon was a decent human being considering he refused to revoke Iroh's birthright. How did he die? dun dun dun

I think Azulon is a traditionalist. Tradition states that the throne goes to the first born son. Since Iroh is a live and kickin', he didn't want to revoke Iroh's birthright.

That's bothered me for sometime now. Are we sure that Sozin died PEACEFULLY in his sleep? I know he has old and all, but if he was searching for the Avatar, which he know he didn't get, how peaceful was he when he died really? It just struck me as odd when Azula said that. Maybe it's just me, but it just didn't sit right.

How's this for symbolism? The enlightened Iroh sits in a shaft of light which streams towards Zuko, who only has to take one step forward to be in the light himself...but the bars, the cage of his own making, are in the way...

Maybe it's just me, but it just didn't sit right. Of course he didn't just die peacefully in his sleep! That's a given. No matter what Azula says, nothing in a story like this is ever that simple. Maybe being murdered by an ambitious, power-hungry son runs in the family?
