Yeah Zuko is just a very confused teen who only ever wanted his father to love him. That's been clear for a long time, Zuko's honor is more about what his father thinks than it is about real honor. That's why he looks so dubious when Azula tells him that even if their father didn't accept him he would have earned his honor back on his own. It was never about regaining his honor, speaking out of turn and being scarred by your father is hardly a death blow to one's honor. It's been about gaining the love of his father. It won't be until he accepts his uncle as his real father figure that he' able to seek real honor. Real honor can not be granted, it can not be taken. It lies within. Zuko will figure it out, give him time. He's seen what a shame his father's love is.

there is no spoiler, everything Toph addict said could be either found, or assumed in the first 49 eppies. I was referring to what tophaddict was saying about Azulon's death, which is not formally mentioned until the DOBS episodes (I saw them already ). But I guess it's not too spoilerly.. quasi-spoilerly maybe? So yea nevermind.

^^We all had thought that anyway. We've had countless discussions about it. And I thought what he said was only his opinion. I didn't see anything on here that we haven't talked and speculated about on this thread yet. That's why i couldn't understand where the spoiler was. Most of us have thankfully not posted about the eppies yet to be seen.

I guess I just had a false alarm. Sorry bout the whole false accusation thing, tophaddict. Anyway, was I the only one who thought that Aang was gonna take a huge bite out that lamb on this scene? screenshots.avatarspiritmedia.net/309/129.jpgScary.

(late as heck) This episode could have been executed so much better than it was... It was maybe 90% fan service/really corny slapstick and 10% actual story. Just when season 3 was finally starting to get good, they go and botch it up with this nonsense...
However, that one dream Aang had that was very stream-of-conscious, "Ringu"-esque? Props to the writers on that one, that was pretty durn creepy yet cool.

(don't worry... i'm thinkin' we won't be disappointed w/ DoBS... trust me)

It certaintly looks like that in the screenshot! I stared at it for a good few minutes while I was making my "Currently Shipping" sig. I was like, "Wow, will people know he's not eating the sheep?"

Well...it's certainly a twist on the concept of vegetarianism...the animal doesn't appear to have actually died...so...

On the contrary...the lamb looks like he's enjoying it.

Kinda reminds you of the pig in The Restaurant at the End of the Universe doesn't it?

In the second book of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy there's a genetically modified pig that happily invites the characters to eat it...

Best part of the episode: Appa vs. Momo (I loved that Appa's voice sounded very intellectual and proper)
This was another episode of parallels and contrasts between Zuko and Aang. In the beginning, Aang (who has struggled with his identity as Avatar), suddenly realizes that the invasion is 4 days away and begins to completely stress out and come unraveled. Zuko (who has struggled with his identity as the exiled, and now accepted prince) realizes he's not been invited to a military planning session-- (which of course his last appearance at such a session got him scarred and exiled), and begins to fume and come unraveled (in a less dramatic way than Aang).
By the end of the episode, however, Aang winds up in a state of peace, and Zuko winds up in a state of inner turmoil.
Though I always find things to appreciate about every episode, this is one that I don't think I would have missed if I hadn't watched it. I always enjoy Avatar, but if this episode were food, it would be an Oscar Meyer hot dog and not a 12 ounce sirloin (not as substantive).

I actually like they did that, they gave us a pointless episode, to give us a nice long rest from the story, to get us ready for the invasion eppies.
