Personally, I thought the premiere would have been magnificent as an hour long special; don't we deserve an hour long premier after 10 1/2 months with no Avatar. But the premiere had too many emotions and too much going on to properly fit into 24 minutes, it seemed really rushed. Especially since so many important things happened in the comics which apparently many fans have no access too; but that's okay, it's not like my heart nearly gave out when Mai kissed Zuko with no explanation.

They tried to throw too much exposition together in 22 minutes. I suppose they're covering for the 3 weeks Aang was out. But it seemed soooo rushed. Aang was, within the first episode, at the Fire Nation and his friends magically find him right when he wakes up? Wtf?

I was quite disappointed, actually. There were too many continuity errors and a lot of Deus Ex Machina moments.

I thought the premier was ok, it wasn't what I expected but it was still good. Although the Earth King's departure really bothered me, I don't see why they would just let a king roam around on his own.

Apparently they explain the Earth King and Maiko in the magazine... which I have no access to and I'm slightly ticked that Mike and Bryan threw in a "research factor" to the show. Now I have to spend more money just to figure out what the hell is going on. Way to milk the money cow guys...

There were a couple of things in there that bore further explanation than what was given and a few questions left unanswered, and it would have been better as an hour-long special, as many have stated before me, explaining the things that would have been good to get further explained and answering those unanswered questions. However, for all that it was, it was pretty good, and those suffering from the most extreme cases of AWS (Avatar Withdrawl Syndrome) should have been cured.

I have to say, I agree--I guess these plot points must not matter much if you can't even bother to explain them in the show. Esp. since it seems a large majority of people can't even find the damned magazine. @_@

Personally, I thought the premier would have been magnificent as an hour long special ^ Hits it. Aangst, the "here's what happened in the three weeks you were out" explanation, and Katara vs. Hakoda could have used a lot more screentime so they wouldn't seem so bleeeghh.

I liked the premiere but I thought it could have been better. I agree on the one hour bit, but I suppose when the time comes I'll be glad to have had 10 weeks of avatar instead of 9. I enjoyed the Zuko/Ozai interaction as well as the Zuko/Azula interaction. I think that if there was more time things could have been explained better and elaborated on. (I read the mag, but still..) Sokka was funny as usual. (: I think it started out okay. I feel like I knew a lot of what was going on in the episode already because they went back to remind people of what happened in season 2 (not like we forgot ^^). Overall it was good, but it could have been better. I expect the second episode to be a lot more rewarding though, because we won't have to go through the flashbacks and it'll be all new stuff hopefully.

I was quite disappointed, actually. There were too many continuity errors and a lot of Deus Ex Machina moments. I'm interested in the continuity errors, please post them when you can. As for my criticism, yeah too short. It should been an hour. It would have given more time to Zuko and Aang's stories. As for Deus Ex Machina moments, well it's to be expected when the protagonist is almost a god himself.

I agree that the King departure was definitely Deux Ex Machina. That was my only complaint about the time gap fill in. Personally I would have just dropped him off at the nearest resistance movement or underground area. Just having him roam the countryside just doesn't feel right, given his power. But yeah besides that great episode. Some thing predictable (Zuko regaining his honor, increased Kataraang) other things not so much (touching scene with Katara and Hokoda, seeing Ozai's face!!)
