Is there a specific maximum width images can be to avoid ever getting squished? Because it seems like no matter how big or small signatures are, they randomly sometimes get squished and sometimes don't. Every signature I've ever had has been like that, and I keep trying, whenever I make a new signature, to make it a bit smaller than the last, in the hopes that this time it will be narrow enough that the board never bothers squishing it. But I'm starting to wonder if there is no limit at all, and if I had a signature that was only 1 pixel wide, it would half the time display as 3/4 of a pixel or something....
What bothers me is not so much the images in my signature as the text within the image being difficult or impossible to read. Which is harder if I make the image smaller in the first place, so I'm starting to think I should just make my signatures bigger instead of smaller, so that at least when it gets squished the text won't be impossible to read...

It is random, I don't understand how it works, it's just the way things are.
I had 2 images the same width, sometimes one was wider then the other, other times it was even...
The limit on signature size is really to keep the page from being stretched. Limits on the file size are a peace offering to those with slow connection...it's not fun when your computer freezes up because a signature is blowing it's capacity out of the water!

Naw, it was a little bird on a nearby fence post. I would suppose there are alot of factors that play into the image rendering. It's not just the proboards code, but the ability of your browser to compose the page properly. Only Opera enthusiasts (the browser, not the music genre) would tell you that their PC is drawing the page 100 percent correctly, since it does the best job on the standards compliant ACID2 test.

whatevuh! I don't get overly exited over the little odd things with grafics, mine are not that precise anyway. But I sure like my eye gif..first one I ever made, and it was like, a total accident!

Hmm, I always figured height was the problem rather than length, because my signatures are never long enough to stretch anything (unless someone's using a much smaller screen than I am, but I've long been accustomed to think whatever screen I have at any given time, it's probably smaller than what anyone else in the civilized world is using). Still, I've just tried making a new version of my latest signature, which is taller, but also shorter in length, I wonder if that'll work better than long, narrow ones...
P.S. Lt. Dan I really like that Momo in christmas lights avatar.
edit: nope, on this page I see my sig working fine in my first post, but it's shrunken in this post. ah well.

Help me. Omg. I tried everything but it DIDN'T WORK, my siggy still comes out not as a picture but lame letters and codes! And my avatar doesn't show up at all. *swears in Momolanguage* help me, I am lost in more ways than one!
