that was a good episode, but I'm really wondering what happened to Iroh.

I think from all of this in-depth discussion, we have come to one conclusion: Azula is Satan. Period. I think most of us have figured that out Either way, she's isn't going to except Zuko's lie for long. Yeah, but now Azula fans can't get all offended when we call her a "sociopathic b****" because she's officially crossed lines of being a run of the mill enemy who was told by her dad to capture her brother and uncle into becoming some insane - I don't even know what to call her - "person" who is bent on controlling the world through manipulating the people around her who, which I must add, HAVEN'T EVEN DONE ANYTHING TO HER.

Did anyone notice some references from book one in this episode, I mean some references that you may have forgotten about.
Remember when Katara entered the room to find Aang gone? That reminded me of when Gyatso entered Aang's room in the Air Temple to find that he was gone.
And the rest are probably ones you knew about before.

Also, for people saying Katara was too powerful, I just wanted to bring up something about Toph that has yet to be mentioned...
HOW CAN SHE SEE... WHEN SHE'S BLIND?? We've established that she can feel vibrations through the ground and has somewhat exceptional hearing, but in this episode she's seen destroying missiles out of the air when they're being fired between two ships. She can't feel anything in the water, this was mentioned in season 2, so there's no possible way she could have known those things were coming. It is possible she HEARD them, but in the din of battle with so much happening, I can't imagine her focusing that much. She even managed to pinpoint the individual catapults on the ship and yet she couldn't attack a couple of bees in the air...
It's no big deal that the show has to sacrifice some of it's established realism for action but I just wanted to point out that Toph is pretty much the most powerful character on the show as it is.
Why? Yue is the personification of the moon goddess and water benders in general. I don't see anything wrong with her coming to Aang's side. Roku was probably the one that called her.

You know what I just noticed?
Sokka is growing his hair in the back of his head.
At least it looked that way from one angle in one scene.

Well I think the answer lies with the profection of metalbending, if metal is nothing but perified earth and Toph realized this some time before. He she should mange to feel the vibrations in the metal and knows where she is. However, it looks like the creators are going to make her other sences more powerful other then her bending. So she could have heard the cataplults, and it's been two weeks, Toph probably have fast learning ablities like Aang does. As for Yue, that quote could been done using Gyatso's voice and then show Yue waterbending the wave to shore.

I don't see how it would have worked for Gyatso considering he was just a normal human. It's interesting to note that his name is tibetan for ocean, but Yue is still moon goddess and goddess of the water tribe and she appeared to Aang out of the moon so it makes perfect sense to me.

I have a feeling it more about shipping then friendship for Yue
Also note...echolocation can play a big role for Toph being use as weapon. So when impact occurs...she can see from the viberation for that attack...think of her as part bat.

I know that this has been brought up, probably a lot, but I was just...so confused about the Maiko thing. I had missed the episode on Friday because I had to babysit so I went on Turbo Nick to watch it.
First of all, Mai was not at all herself. I know she was 'in a good mood' but she wasn't like herself at all, at least to me. It was just...sorta weird to me. Then when they kissed. I was like, did I miss something? I kept going back, trying to find something I had missed, but...it was just so random and really rushed into. I didn't expect anything like that until the middle of the season. What I expected at the most was just a lot of flirting, but it was just so weird to me...
I felt that the entire thing was really rushed into. It was a good episode though. I can't wait to see what happens next.

As it turns out, the comics in the Avatar issue of Nick magazine explained that Mai and Zuko had a MUTUAL childhood crush. Zuko wanted to remain in Ba Sing Se so Azula set Mai and Zuko on a dinner date (with the Dai Li as the servants), hoping that sparks would fly and Zuko would want to return home. But Azula and Ty Lee were overheard behind some bushes so Mai and Zuko left and took a friendly stroll in the Lower Ring. There, they met Jin who wanted to know who Mai was; she was the knife thrower at "Lee's" former circus. Jin gets Mai to do some knife throwing, first on her, then Jin tries to spear a fish on "Lee's" head with an icicle. Zuko almost dies and he chases a gleeful Mai into an alley. I think they reminisce about their childhood, lean in for a kiss... then the next day, they're strolling along, happy as can be, and Zuko informs his sister that he will return home with her.

I think they reminisce about their childhood, lean in for a kiss... then the next day, they're strolling along, happy as can be, and Zuko informs his sister that he will return home with her. But you see, that's the thing. We shouldn't have to buy a magazine to not have a complete WTF reaction for the Maiko scene. It came completely out of nowhere and I personally think was poorly done. On the bright side, I actually liked Mai and Zuko's interaction ("I didn't ask for your life story, geez" XD), but I think they kind of ruined it with the kiss. It wouldn't kill the Maiko fandom to have a kiss later in the season, and it would probably better received from non-Maiko fandom if it happened later and didn't seem so out of place. I know they don't have a ton of time for romance, but it wouldn't take a lot of effort to just have a kiss later after they've interacted more. It just seems so out of character for both Mai and Zuko. But other than that, I found this to be a very enjoyable episode . Toph and Katara kick so much behind, and Ozai is a dead sexy fox XD. The only other thing I didn't like about the Maiko kiss was the fact that Katara was on constant b**** mode. I guess she has a lot going on, but...I don't know, the thing with her dad is understandable, yet it also seems to come out of nowhere. It just seemed to be thrown in for the angst, but I'm probably wrong on that. Maybe I'm being too hard on them since this is the first time we've seen Katara interact with her father. But this episode reminded me why I love Sokka, and I have become an Ozai fangirl. Even his voice is hot (get it? HOT! XD XD XD). Two thumbs up for this episode, and even though I was already looking forward to The Headband from the YTV preview, I'm anticipating it even more now because of MACORONI OZAI FOR THE WIN!!!!

Yeah, it's understandable that it would be confusing without buying the magazine first. However, I think they did a good job catching up with most of the stuff. They spent a few minutes explaining what happened after Aang went down, but I think if they'd gone into extreme detail with everything that had happened in the several weeks that went by, it would have been the entire episode and there wouldn't have been any room for anything else. So I can see both sides! Yes, Ozai is very good looking! That whole family is good looking, I swear! It's no question where Zuko and Azula got their good looks! I thought it was kind of funny that Aang was all "I must restore my honor" and then they faded into the next scene of Zuko's scar. It sort of showed that Aang is really turning into the surly young man that Zuko has become. Sadness! But there have been several jokes that Aang is becoming more like Zuko, 'cause he's growing his hair and freaked out about his honor! I think it's kind of interesting and I can't wait to see where it goes! After Aang talks to Roku and Yue and Yue created that frickin' huge wave for Aang to surf on, I LOVED the music! I watched that scene over and over just to hear the music! It was SOOOOOO powerful! I REALLY wish they would come out with the soundtrack! Yeah, Katara's attitude was pretty surprising to me. She's always been the motherly type, carrying everyone else's baggage, so I suppose with her father being the paternal type again, she had a chance to break down and become a kid again. Sort of like Katara's realization. All in all, two thumbs way up and I can't wait for the next episode!

How was the kiss rushed at all? It was explained in Zuko Alone that Mai had a crush on Zuko and Mai's the foreceful type. Considering it's been somewhere around 2 weeks to a month that they left the Earth Kingdom, the first thought going through my head when they kissed was "huh, they must have been pretty busy all this time!" Even Azula pretty much confirmed my thoughts when she said "Mai's been in a much happier mood." Call me "loose" or whatever, but if I had a hot moody childhood friend like Mai that I haven't seen in 3 years or whatever, we'd be making out every chance we got And I don't think Katara was acting unreasonable at all. Holding a grudge for a person, even a loved one, is completely natural and stress is a pretty big factor towards anger and frustration. I don't, maybe I'm unrealistic but my job is probably one of the most stressful on earth so who knows?
