Hi guys! This is my first thread...so please don't hit me too hard when I did something wrong ^_^ As you all know, Katara send a message with Hawky to Toph's parents. Now I was thinking, Xin Fu and master Yu (--> remember, those two crazy guys from season 2 who were chasing Toph) are still out there. Maybe they will intercept the letter? Or is this just a too crazy thought? Lemme know

Or is this just a too crazy thought? Lemme know Those two dunderhead were trapped in a metal cage..right? (leaving master yu with a full bladder) Hm. I think they were probably captured by the fire nation. If not, I don't think they would bother to intercept a letter from a messenger Hawk.. And even if they do.. What are they gonna do? Waltz into the fire nation? I think the message will land safely in the hands of Toph's parents But then.. Would her parents open a message from a Fire Nation messenger hawk? we might never know.. Maybe the message isnt even important.

Oh yeah, I forgot, the were captured! Shame on me!!!
Well, I suppose they could go in disguise like the gaang did...
But indeed, why would they bother to intercept a message from a message hawk?
Although it would be possible, I think...the guy who blows things up with his mind (I forgot his name, I am sorry XD) intercepted a message hawk, right?
And perhaps you're right, mabye the message isn't important...allthough I think it will be of great value for Toph's parents ^_^

I really don't know where the bird is going. It could be thousands of miles to the earth kingdom, and I don't really think birds like that can fly over oceans.

Perhaps...but I think the distance will not be that far for Hawky ^_^ Some birds in the real world cross the ocean every year, right?

ok thinking within a 'cartoon' frame of mind, and some logic aside. I think it could be plausible thought that, if the creators wanted to, this could be the incentive for the return of Xin Fu and Master Yu.
But I wonder, would they still add something to the story? And because of that would it be beneficial if they returned?

no, how would those two duderheads get their hands on that bird? and there has already been one interception.
but you bring up a good point, the be fong family are EK nobels, imagine if they were hosting a EK dinner and a FN messenger war hawk comes fluttering into the room. they would be screwed.
or, now that BSS has fallen, perhaps the EK city they reside in has fallen under FN control.
so could tophs parents be already captured? if they are, and the hawk tries to deliver the message anyways, then the FN could easily intercept the message... and then they really would know of the invasion, it would be too late to do anything about it. but they would know that toph was a big part in the invasion. the only thing they could do at that point it time is to make an example out of Toph's parents...
either way, it looks like toph seriously screwed her parents with that letter

^ ; Crap...I didn't even think of that! TOPH! Didn't any of this occur to you!? So, If the BeiFongs get the war hawk, they are either labled as: 1) Fire Nation spies (The hawk is from the FN) and they're arrested 2) EK spies, arrested and executed. But wait, do we even know Toph said anything about the invasion? She could have simply had Katara write down: "I'm fine, we're in a city now and I'm teaching the Avatar Earthbending. Don' worry about me anymore. He's not holding me hostage." Or something more Toph-y if that was too not Toph.

but then the FN would know that Aang is alive at that point.

She might not have even mentioned Aang; she could have just told them that she loves them and misses them.

Actually, I thought that the hawk going off was foreshadowing that something might have happened to Toph's parents.
They didn't show them receiving the letter or anything, all we saw was Hawkey flying off with it.
I was expecting them to show the bird landing on the sill or something in the Bei Fong estate, or maybe Poppy opening the letter and calling for Lao, saying it's from Toph, but nothing.

I like the idea of Hawky being intercepted, but since the bounty hunters are trapped, they probably won't be the ones to get Toph's message. What about Combustion Man? He is still out there.
Or would it be repetitive to have him intercept TWO message hawks?
Anyway... I agree. Toph's decision to use Hawky to take a message to her parents might not have been the wisest one she's made.

That'd definitely be a twist if Hawky's message was intercepted, but think about it; how does Hawky even know where to go? This isn't Harry Potter and magic owls, after all. As far as we know, Hawky could just be flying around randomly at this point.

I think Hawky is supposed to be like messenger pigeons or something like that. They're trained to go where you tell them to. Besides, this is Avatar, a little magic doesn't hurt

I don't know about an interception. I mean it's already been done once. Would they do it again? And if so, the only question would be who would intercept it? I don't think the dunderheads(love that word!) will get it, and CM is just too predictable. Maybe the Rough Rhinos? Or one of the new villians we've heard about?
Since this is the Avatar world, I'd like to think that for once something goes right for the Gaang. Maybe her parents will get the message and know she's ok and just be relieved, although that seems boring and lame. It was a nice thought though.
