^I think what you're saying is that the Avatar can produce glass, but not necessarily "bend" it. I still think glass is a refined substance that can be made to twitch or shake (because of teh small impurities) but it can't be "launched" at people.
However, I have been wrong in the past.

aang bended glass in the crossroads of destany the green crystal I have some crystal quartz jewelry. Is it glass? No. I have a mirror. Is it crystal? No. AKA Crystal=/=glass

Actually glass and quartz are made both made of silicon dioxide (sand) so it's not entirely true that glass =/= crystal.....
Glass is a crystalline structure it's made of ordered molecules hence it's a crystal...
However not all crystals are quartz... if that crystal in s2 finale was not quartz then who knows if glass is bendable or not

It wud just be like Toph bending the earth impurities in metal... If aang can bend quartz he can bend glass ..... most sand is just ground up quartz glass is mainly made of silica SO2 and quartz is silica.... so the main constituents of glass and quartz are identical ..... Structure may be different but on a molecular basis they are identical... look en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glass That crystal may not hav even been quartz cud'v been corundum (ruby/saphire) or diamond in which case there is no evidence to support glass bending But if it was quartz then it does mean that bending silica is possible and as glass is around 70% siliica then glass is bendable trust me I'm a chemist

Honestly, probably not. Sand is the prime ingredient in glass.
You also need heat to make the strips.
So if your both an earth bender and a fire bender, glass can be form.
As for fire benders, they can make glass out of the lightning they shoot. Im sure "The Beach" would be a great place to show that it is capable of doing, but none of that happened.
Glass has to be really fine. The sand must be semi dense and heated enough to make glass.

The heating doesn't affect moleculy what makes it... It only reorders the molecules and yeah mybe it affects the other ingrediants in glass but by heating sand doesn't make it a different substance...
And I just rembered sand is bendable... sand benders episode 210/211 ....... so yeah sand silicon dioxide is bendable so hence the silicon dioxide in glass is bendable.....
though if the creators decide on a whim that glass is not bendable fine... but from a scientific point of view if sand is bendable there is no reason why glass shudn't be

I would think glass is bendable by earth benders since of the sand benders in 'The Desert' or one of those episodes, it's been awhile. BUt since glass' main ingredeint is sand, it could be bendable. ONe ting I don't remember seeing is glass. I don't remember seeing it at all in the series. Maybe it isn't bendable if I've never seen it. Metal has been in the series since it is bendable, but I can't remember seeing any glass. There I go contradicting myself again.

^LoL! I seriously LoLed at that! Anyways, it would be cool if there was some glass bending in the show. That would be really cool but if glass were bended in the show, how would such bending be used in the show? Hmm...bending glass to attack enemies sounds violent because to be cut by glass means bleeding and being a show on Nickelodeon, that wouldn't be allowed because of the kiddies. But then again, being bashed by boulders can cause bleeds too...Ah...what am I saying? I better go to bed, I'm pooped. EDIT: I'm back! Now I can think better. Anyways, if glass is partially made of sand then wouldn't earthbenders be able to bend it only partially? I mean, when Katara waterbends water out of the plants, she only bends the water portion of it of course but then again, that one guy from the swamp can bend the vines (no wait, I guess it's just the water because the vines contains water, so bending the water would in turn cause the vines to move). So I guess if the glass was partially made of sand then earthbenders can bend it only partially. Speaking of earthbending, looks like Edea from FF8 is bending those crystals from the caves where Katara and Zuko were stuck in. Picture Link. Doesn't it? Now, if glass could be bent that way and thrown like Mai's daggers, that would be awesome!

Do they even use glass in the avatar world?? I know it occurs naturally but its not exactly as abundant as the other elements so why bother. Technically Azula/Ozai/Iroh and possibly zuko in a while could make glass by fireing lightening at sand...
OK new awesome theory, after Azula gets her butt kicked in the war she will live out the rest of her life as a glass sculpture maker!

Well, what counts with bending? The reason Earthbenders can't bend Metal is because it has a different consistency. Same with the sandbenders, they bend sand differently than earthbenders bend earth because it doesn't act the same as earth. I assume special training would be needed to bend glass, but I think it's possible.
