Why does it seem like everyone hates Katara?

It seems like everyone hates Katara and loves Toph. What did Katara ever do to make people hate her? And what did Toph ever do to make people love her? Is it because most people think that Toph's bending is better?(Which is not fair to say because Katara only has a little bit of water most of the time and Toph always has a ton of Earth) But I really can't see how she could be hated. I like all of the charactors(some more than others) and Katara is one of my faverotes.

Yeah Katara is awesome and also one of my favorite characters on the show, dont get me wrong I think toph is awesome too, but I like Katara more and I always will, so I also wonder why people hate Katara and love Toph.

I don't think anyone really hates Katara. Katara just has kind of a soft, nice, helpful, personality, while Toph is hardcore and constantly sarcastic and tough even though she's blind. I think Toph just has a more interesting personality then Katara.

Toph has 1 vote. And a lot of the people have a lot of Toph siggys and Icons. I haven't seen many Katara siggys or icons. There just has been a lot of Toph worship and Katara bashing. I like Toph to, but not to the point of worshiping her.

I never knew people disliked Katara. To each his/her own, I guess. I wouldn't know why they would dislike her, but that's because I'm a biased Katara fangirl. That, and I don't really hate/dislike any of the characters.

I guess more people like Toph because she's more "likeable" in a sense.

Perhaps because Toph is a fresh, interesting face. My dad has said that Katara acts more like furniture now, she doesn't really do anything besides talk or fight, or usually stand in the background looking pretty. Toph is simply more interesting and new than Katara. She is unique with her skills and background and attitude. I suppose that's why.
Maybe people are just focusing more on the people that dislike Katara than those that like her. There are plenty of people who still like Katara, but people won't really notice them compared to those who say they hate her.

I like Katara and Toph, they are great female characters and they will continue to kick butt in book 3.
