I'm surprised no one's mentioned the season finale. When Yue died, that nearly made me cry. Haha, I'm going to mention it now! The last episode of the season finale, Avatar Aang made me tear up a bit (and I rarely every cry). It wasn't the story that made me cry though. Like all of you life fans of Avatar, it was simply just that this was the end.

I think that momo's tale in the Tales of Ba Sing Se is the saddest it made me cry.

The saddest episodes for me were the crossroad of destiany, the tales of ba sing se (seeing iroh cry made me cry.), the avatar returns, and Zuko alone. edit: the fianale wasn't sad, but I was sad it ended.

The Souther Raiders (that's the name right?)

Tale of Iroh in the Tales of Ba Sing Se.
Only episode (or part of an eppisode) that made me actually choke up

The only episode that was sad for me was the Finale. I agree with Aishwarya, it was sad because it was the end.

The tale of Iroh in Tales of Ba Sing Se is the saddest overall episode, and I admit I teared up at the end. The reunion of Iroh and Zuko made me cry more, but that was just a touching part, not really sad.
Southern Raiders was sad, too. Learning that Katara's mom died to protect her was really sad. Up until then I assumed their mom was just killed in the attack, not an intentional move by a fire nation soldier.

Yeah, I can understand where you're coming from, Scarlett Ember. The sadest tale from Tales of Ba Sing Se, for me, was Zuko's.

I must say that there were plenty of sad eppies, and I loved them all. But the saddest would have to be Sozin's Comet in the whole, simply because it ended the only tv series that I became obsessed with ever! I've never felt so strongly for the characters and story as I did with Avatar, and I will miss it immensely.

Tale of Iroh for me. I always cry when he starts to. His "Soldier Boy song always makes me cry. In regards to the finale, I was sad that it was over. This is the one anime show that I actually obsessed over, too.

I have to agree with everyone's choice of Iroh's Tale in Tales of Ba Sing Se. It was heartbreaking. Iroh's very strong and put together so it was especially poignant to see his grief.
Zuko Alone breaks my heart as well. Zuko's been through so much trauma and he's so scarred(both literally and figuratively). It hurts to watch him struggle. But we're rewarded later in the series.
The Storm has sad flashbacks as well. Aang is torn away from the one monk who really understands him, and he's given a huge responsibility at a young age. Iroh's accounting of how Zuko got his scar is horrifying and so tragic. Your parents are the people you should be able to trust no matter what, the people who should protect you. Ozai was the complete opposite of that for Zuko. He mutilated, shamed and banished Zuko all in front of an audience. He then sent him on a near impossible quest, figuring Zuko would be gone for good, holding out the carrot of being allowed to come home if he succeeded. Ugh! It makes me sick.
The end of CoD is sad as well. Katara carrying Aang out of the crystal catacombs and crying over his limp body gets me every time. Iroh's sadness at the events gets me too.
Jet dying in Lake Lagoi saddens me. His friends standing guard over him is very touching.

Yeah. Lake Laogai, Zuko alone, and The Storm were behind Iroh's tale.

Final where Azula broke down.
I never go a day without thinking about her, and hoping something good will happen to her.
