It did surprise me, too, though. I mean, Aang didn't even know the gesture...though that could mean it was merely adapted after the Avatar disappeared...

My theroy is that Hadoka "served" on the FN navy and learned a thing or two about them. Like what Azula did in BSS, pretending to be a Kyoshi warrior.
Hadoka and Bato might have signed up to a FN ship, pretending to be a FN soldier.

Where would yoiu get the idea that he helped Ursa. He left two years ago and she must of left five or six years ago.
I still don't know where that one person heard about a secret. How about detail.

Is it me or did people gotten a little bit off track for a moment, by the way soem of you guys have some disturbing imaginations. No offense. What does knowing a hand gesture have to do with a secret anyways even though I doubt he has one.

I'm doutbing this whole thing... *shakes head*
Come on people. The hand gesture is basically the FN version of a salute. Hakoda would only have to see one soldier give ti to another, prolly when he was scouting an enemy camp or something, to be able to know about it. He'd prolly recognize and remember it easily because it was oddly different from the normal bow hakoda and the rest of the world uses. Thats all.

This thing is so old but,
what I think the 'water tribe villain' was Hama. It's not going to be Hakoda, that's just so Star Wars. While Hama makes sense, She's Southern Water Tribe and she's a nutcase. Hakoda's secret isn't revealed, just yet I think. Maybe Hama's is his mom. I'm just pulling things out of my butt.

I'd like there to be something interesting revealed about Hakoda, but I doubt it. He probably just saw someone do that. I don't think that he'd be accepted as a Fire Nation Soldier. Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the majority of the Fire Nation have pale skin and fiery colored eyes? Hakoda has darker skin and blue eyes. The soldiers in The Awakening probably weren't smart enough to notice or they did and I just can't remember what happened in The Awakening. *hides in shame*
Ugh, that paragraph took me forever to type. I kept spelling things really wrong. When I tried to type pale, I typed place like three times. DX

^^I'm sure you're right, Hakoda has no secret. I also agree that the WT villian was Hama.
Hakoda's only secret is that he is a kick butt warrior, but it really isn't a secret. If he does have a secret, maybe it's that he knows who really killed his wife. Maybe he was present and could do nothing to stop it. We really have no idea what went down yet, maybe he's trying to hide that from his kid's. I honestly don't believe there could be any FN in that man, he's an honourable one, something that most FN soldiers seem to fall short on.

"I AM YOUR FATHER, KATARA...IT'S TRUE..." *ahem* I really hope this route isn't taken, because then George Lucas can sue for plagiarism. plagiarism is when you take somthing word for word, so your safe ...for now... but ill get you I meant making the main female character's dad the villain. ^^; But okay, no more direct quotes of 'Star Wars' from me. *bows* I just don't want them to make Hakoda evil, because Hakoda's way too cool for that. It'd be like suddenly deciding that Iroh is the villain instead of Ozai. -_-"
