Wow. I really did not like this episode. Bad animation, lousy plot, filler, lousy characters, lousy decisions. Really. We've had two fillers this season. Sokka was completely and utterly right. Katara was stupid and thoughtles (although the Zutara shippers are going to love the "Did you even think this through" line.) Aang was completely immature, I mean more so than in The Headband. Toph had a decent role, though. And what was with the crazy dude? Too much pollution. Overall, I'm really upset that I waited a week for this. I hope season three improves.

Katara's line sounded a lot more dramatic in the Season 3 trailer than when it was actually used.
No Zuko? Not again! I'm part of the older crowd; I only started watching the show because of his side of the story.

It was nice to actually see the last two minutes of the episode, but it was still rather disappointing. Enough with the Captain Planet/anime episodes, please! Anyway, Katara was gorgeous as the Painted Lady. But I still think it was extremely risky that the Gaang revealed themselves to the village. I mean, what the heck? I completely agree! Gaoling->You just spawned major plot bunnies in my little head. >>

toph definitely stole the show, but katara was pretty intense. however, i didn't see much character development.... katara did go against sokka to help the village, but other than that, it felt a lot like a filler.
"he really does have a heart!!!" *silence* *toph punches aang*
yeah... when is combustion man gonna make another appearance?? the lack of zuko/iroh progression was slightly disconcerting

I got goosebumps when the "painted lady" was coming out of the mist. That music was creepy/awesome! All in all, it was a most excellent episode. TOPH DID SOMETHING YEAH! Anyway, I believe we may seeing some developing themes in season three (at least in the episodes so far), directed toward humanizing the fire nation citizens and performing deeds to change their opinion of the other nations (OMG! SHES A WATERBENDER?). If Aang and the others continue to help people, perhaps the fire nation public would be much less willing to support their monarchy and instead come to the aid of the avatar... I guess we will see

Meh, The Headband was actually great for many reasons. It had good animation for staters. It had important plot points(Iroh-Zuko). They showed us how FN molds young minds. And well choreographed fight scenes.

Did anyone else notice that Toph looked somewhat Jealous when Sokka went to go hug Katara? She even punched Aang in the arm.

I have a favorite scene. Aang's chasing Katara towards the village and he's ranting about how he's friends with Hei-Bai and how he's the Avatar and pulls down his headband to reveal his arrow. Although, it did seem very fillerish, but I think that's the entire point. The Gaang's biding their time until the invasion begins. Toph really did steal the show. I guess this makes up for her nearly not being in the last two episodes. (Toph appears from behind a woman) Toph: Maybe we can clean the river? (Toph vanishes from behind a woman) LOL! Um, did anyone notice in the beginning when Aang's swimming in the polluted water, he still has that open wound? Shouldn't the polluted river be infecting it or something? ; Who's to say Katara doesn't give Aang healing sessions in between episodes. (and from the couple of weeks Aang was in a coma) I didn't watch Naruto (Never have), so I couldn't exactly spot the Naruto-like things in this episode.

What a complete disapointment. I mean it was completely filler.

mentalmishaps: I agree. Seriously, that crazy multi-person guy was really getting on my nerves. The show is already funny enough without him and Katara was being so naive and unrealistic. She's totally forgetting the big picture and if she had her own way, she might've even stayed at that one single village until summer or something. And what was up with the whole "I know you're water tribe, but we won't tell" thing? They should've driven her out like how Zuko was driven out, then it would've been more realistic.

Did anyone else notice that Toph looked somewhat Jealous when Sokka went to go hug Katara? She even punched Aang in the arm. Well we all know she has a crush on him but I hardly doubt she was jealous. He was hugging his sister......not a girlfriend.

I loved the Kataang innuendoes in this one though...Sokka caught them out after being together at night....who knows what was going through his head I didn't think of it as a filler really. It really shows the hate that fire nation, even the lower class, have for other nations. It was actually interesting, especially the fact that the River Spirit made an appearance to Katara. Spirits normally only appear to the Avatar. I would have liked to see some Zuko and Iroh stuff though D:
