He scares me, but still an interesting spirit nonetheless. ^^ Talk about this particular spirit here! By the way, does anyone know where/how/what the creators might have based this spirit on? Is there a spirit or creature from any Asian beliefs? I know that the original face of the Face Stealer, or so I believe, has great similiarity to Japanese Noh mask. The idea of this spirit stealing faces refer to me as Korean egg-face ghost (XP It's a ghost that supposedly has no face of its own, it's face is just one round surface, like an "egg" -_- but I'm interested to know more.

bleccchhh! That was the creepiest bloody thing I have ever seen in a cartoon. It freaked me out more than Gollum! *hee hee*
You have to hand it to the writers, they have some vivid imaginations!

I really hope (and expect to) for Koh to come back in a later episode.

The person or animal, that has a smooth surface where the face was is called A Nothing Women/Man/Child. In Japanese lore, they are nothing more than the vengeful spirits who have losts families to wars, battle or raids. In short their bad news. As for Koh, in the Translation Notes of XXX Holic, Volume #5 (it's a manga I'm rather fond of ;D), it spells Koh 'Ko' and this it what it says in the back "The kanji for Ko is made up of three insect kanji, and also means vermin, worm, bug, bad temper, or bad company." ...Frankly I think it fits Koh quite nicely. He is buggy, worm-like and is a bad company unless you DO want your face to be stolen

There was also a character in the anime "Inuyasha" named Muso who stole the faces of people until he settled for the face of a handsome monk. This character is really starting to grow on me, like a Hannibal Lecter of the Spirit World. I'm even trying to write a fanfic about the Avatar that he stole a face from.

"Hm... Anyone notice the Blue Spirit mask in there?" If you mean that blue face that Koh used when he tried to pounce Aang, not quite. But not far off. That was the face of a blue Oni. An ogre-like demon from Japanease folklore. No doubt it was one of these creatures that inspired the face of Zuko's mask. According to the legends, blue Oni are some of the strongest, which raises questions on just how powerful Koh really is.

I wouldn't be surprised if there was a Kitsune face in his collection, noting all the mythics has there.

It's like he wants you to come to him, rather than him coming to get you.
