Now we know why Iroh is so keen to keep Zuko safe, and that he values the balance of nature and uses that in his fire bending.
Breath is very important in the martial arts, which is why he tried to teach Zuko to breath and focus rather than just attack and burn.

Iroh is my 2nd favorite character behind Zuko. Iroh is really funny. I felt bad for him when he was talking about his son.

I definitely like Uncle Iroh. I'm sure he has an intriguing backstory I'm sure but here are my thoughts from what I've watched... When Iroh saw Aang with Monk Gyatsu's (sp?) dragon, nobody else did. Either he has entered the spirit world before which was "rumoured" according to Zhao or it may be the art of foreshadowing thanks to the writers. In the Fortuneteller episode, Iroh states he has one more surprise in life. Well, he's old so yeah... foreshadowing again. I think Iroh will eventually die, but I feel that he may be Zuko's bridge. We all know Zuko wants the Avatar captured so he can restore his reputation the fire nation, however after another foreshadowing event (well I think it's foreshadowing) when he turned his back on the Fire Nation symbol. Anyway, when Iroh dies he would probably have some sort of emotional speech with Zuko prior to said event. This may cause Zuko to change his ways and help the Avatar save the world and take back his throne after defeating his father. Now I know my theory is more Zuko based, but I think Iroh is definitely an important figure. I even think Zuko sees Iroh more as a father figure then he did his own. Well, I'm done for now. heh heh

If there isn't a crapload of backstory with Iroh, I'll be ticked. I think Iroh is my favorite recurring character, mostly because he's funny, but still kicks Equus asinus. Everytime I watch the season finale, the part when he completely owns five firebenders at once makes my spine tingle from the pure awesomeness.

iroh- Why are you fighting when your own ship has set sail? zuko- Uncle! We have no time for your silly proverbs! iroh- It's not a proverb. pirate captian- My ship zuko- hahaha *pirates come by on zuko's boat* zuko- My boat! iroh- Maybe it should be a proverb? zuko- Come on Uncle! ((sry. I'm a freak)) Actually... Zuko and Pirate Captain: *fighting* Iroh: *stops them* Are you too busy fighting you can not see your ship has set sail? Zuko: We have no time for your proverbs, Uncle! Iroh: It's no proverb. Pirate Captain: Bleeding hog monkeys! *runs after boat* Zuko: *points and laughs* Pirates: *go by on Zuko's boat. The shirtless pirate with the nunchucks moons him*
