I remember in Harry Potter there was an editorial about Hermione becoming one evil chick and being headed for punishment. There was a lot of disagreement with it, although quite a few people saw where the writer was coming from.
I think Katara is very similar to Hermione in this case. She is a strong, passionate, fierce person, not just a sweetheart. But that doesn't make her bad or dislikable. She shows this side of herself from the very first chapter, when she's furious with Sokka and ends up breaking a whole iceberg while screaming at him.
Melloyello, I really like the comparison of the expressions in the two pictures. It shows how profound the show is, I think, that it can illustrate maturity so well.
