I think Aang was supposed to act dumb storyline wise to be taught that he does need the Avatar State. Personally I think he needs it spiritual wise because when he's in the Avatar State he is especially connected with his past lives. Katara honestly didn't know (sarcasically:though it is SO hard to misinterpret the hair color). Yeah, I was mad at the Earth King for blabbing but what can the Fire Nation do about a solar eclipse? Make the comet come sooner? *sighs* Panic and fear does make ya do stupid things.

The Earth King should've kept his mouth shut, but in a way it was Sokka's fault because he said, "The kyoshi warriors are trustworthy" But little did he know it was "Ozai's Angels"
Another thing I noticed that when the Earth King told Azula about it, I noticed fear in her eyes for a second, she seems worried thinking that no one was supposed to know, or how did the Avatar get that information.

If it really was Suki and friends you wouldn't have thought he should have kept his mouth closed. Plus Azula doesn't know the exact date of the eclipse right? How can she really plan against it if she doesn't know when it's going to happen?

Pretending to be the Kyoshi Warriors she could have probably gotten some more information out of the Earth King later as long as she acts like she's wondering because she wants to join the invasion.

I actually have other's.......... more just on dumbness on the person alone...... mainly Azula's line, "You can run, but I will catch you" was just a stupid line. Could have said something much more difinitive. However, I'll keep the rest to myself.

I'd also have to say that Aang WAS very dumb for not realizeing that he was vulnerable up in the air and all that. It ticked me off to see that as the ending of COD. It was like they just wanted a reason to say, well there the second season, bye!

Somehow, i always knew Aang was gonna get pwned with his "Rising in the air all god-like" in his Avatar State.
I hate to say this, but good thing Azula showed him a lesson in: "Don't expect us villians to stand there and gawk at you while you power-up and become almost god-like."
I don't root for Azula, but still, Aang should've known that in his world, vilians don't stand there with their mouths gaping open stupidly while he powers up in the Avatar State.

Well said zukofan, I actually would have been upset if he had wiped out Azula/all Dai Li after powering up for five minutes. That would scream lame plot device. This is Avatar, not DBZ. At any rate, I think Katara telling about Zuko/Iroh was the dumbest thing, or at least the most frustrating. I find it hard to blame her because she thought she could trust the Kyoshi warriors, but this information had the most negative effect on the whole group. Had it no happened, Katara would have been safe long enough for Aang to master the Avatar state and swoop in to save the day. At least Zuko could have continued his happy life awhile longer ...

Hey,
wow, this is my first post on this forum... I registered today. ;D
Well, I agree with the majority... definitely the Earth King telling Azula about the eclipse.
Though I can't really blame him, since Sokka told him that the Kyoshi Warriors are trustworthy. How could he know that it was actually Ozai's angels?
