Seeing as this is about Book 3, if you don't want to be spoiled stop here. blogs.wsj.com/speakeasy/2013/11/20/the-legend-of-korra-book-three-will-be-titled-change/?xid=LOKFB“The title of Book 3 is going to be called ‘Change,’” DiMartino said. “It’s all about Korra dealing with the change of the world in this point in time. At the end of Book 2 she says it’s a new era. And it really is and we’re going to show how Harmonic Convergence and her battle with Unalaq and Vaatu kind of shifted the world a bit.” This sounds super interesting. I'm chomping at the bit for Book 3 already! I'm really looking forward to seeing the expanded role of the Avatar. What are your thoughts?

I am still wondering if there is going to be another Equalist type movement that is dedicated to removing spirits from the mortal world. Kind of what Craig and Tamara claim to do to magic users in the ABC show Once Upon A Time.

Seeing those spirits flying in the air above the southern water tribe in season 2 finale, I immediately thought possible consequences. I didn't think about the world shifting. Of Course it probably will be shifting from the season 2 finale through book 3. Repercussions now that Vaatu's gone?

Vaatu is not truly gone. It remains to be seen in book 3 or not. But he either exists within Raava, as Raava existed in Vaatu (which Jinora exposed) and with return in 10,000 years. Or possibly sooner, that remains to be seen.
I don't think there will be any type of Equalist movements in the same way as there were anti benders in Book 1. I think there will definitely be conflicts between humans and spirits.
Korra has vastly expanded the role of the Avatar from what it was before. Before, Avatars were the "Bridge" that dealt briefly with spirits, but mostly tried to solve problems involving humans. Korra has expanded that to being a much more personal peacekeeper of the spirits and people.
I think we will see 2 sides of the coin.
Spirits and people getting along peacefully. They even create really great societies.
Conversely, humans and spirits clash, especially in such an industrialized world.

I'm definitely excited to see how the world will differ now that spirits and humans will be able to interact with ease. It is clear that many spirits are not overly fond of mortals, so I'm sure there will be plenty of conflict in the beginning. I mean when Wan closed the portal he did so because spirits and mortals were fighting. So, I think that the Avatar will still play an important role as a mediator.
